I am just surprized he managed to crawl past Hypo' date=' extract himself long enough from within your bowels to actually read posts and reply... must be getting a bit crowded in there Turks, suggest you take something for it.[/quote']

What a strange post.

After taking charge tonight will be to take the team to Barcelona for a few days team building and training.

Good thing or bad thing saintsweb?

Is he missing home already? Can he handle the attention on him at the moment? Does this have echoes of Sturrock and the constant bleating about how they did things at his old club which annoyed the players.

Or is it a great idea to get the team away for a bit, get to know the players and have a few says training in a decent climate?

Will you believe this? Will franks cousin demand evidence of this? Over to the mongboard to discuss......

Considering home is Argentina (and not the Falklands), and that he has played the top level in France... I doubt he is homesick. He probably just doesn't like the snow!

Find it strange this is even an issue - If anyone thinks that there would NOT be players confused or angered by Adkins departure then their are naive - THAT is NORMAL and to be expected - as is the new boss RECOGNISING this as a potential issue, taking the team away out of the spotlight and using the time to get to know them... its a non-story really as its nothing out of the ordinary.

good move, from what I have heard he needs every opportunity to bond with them

Dear Moderator Mike, thats a very negative remark which needs to be validated in case its just hearsay by a pro-Adkins source who simply wants to undermine our new manager. Other reports say that Pochittino got on well with the players at the first training session and in the long run that is the interests of Southampton FC and the future of the club. Today and tomorrow matter whereas NA, having been thanked for the achievements whilst he was here, is now history.

There may well have been a trip away arranged for this week after we lost in the cup and maybe if the club had already taken the decision to replace NA with MP, they may have fixed it for Spain but it would have made sense not to announce it until after the managerial change had taken place. If it is true that our next league opponents, Man U, are doing the same by going to Qatar we will have shown our players that we value them as much as Man U value theirs and that we are behaving like a Premier Club. I'm just not sure its right to credit Pochettino with the decision to take the squad away but he may have played a part in deciding the destination.

A touch off topic but if we come from behind tonight we could run with this..

Ooooooo the Pochettino Oooooo the Pochettino,

You put a Striker on

You take a Defender off

We pass it from the back and we pass it all about

You do the Pochettino and we turn it around

That's what he's all about...hey!

oooooooo the Pochettino

Made me laugh that did

Didn't Adkins alude to the players going away for a few days in the sun after we got knocked out of the FA Cup against Chelsea? Pretty sure he did. Weird coincidence it is Barcelona though.

This is one of the sad things about being left out of the loop before getting fired.

NA will now be smacking his forehead. "Of course! Barce-bloody-ona! No wonder Nicola insisted on booking that trip to Spain instead of my Bognor Regis suggestion!" DOH!!!

I'm making light of it, but I'm still hurting for NA.
