Stepgar Posted 20 January, 2013 Share Posted 20 January, 2013 How about NO, Shcott, NO! Just support the team. I am sure NA knows how much he was liked and loved by the fans. And also I am sure by now the NC also knows what is thought of him for the timing etc. BLUE LINE, MOVE ON!!
Saint Charlie Posted 20 January, 2013 Share Posted 20 January, 2013 Anybody who thinks the players will perform worse just because the crowd are praising their former manager, and for many the guy who brought them here, is a complete numpty IMO. Agree. But there will be a minority that will turn it into a negative atmosphere chanting for Cortese Out or booing a substitution or goal for Everton. Sour Mash Posted 20 January, 2013 Share Posted 20 January, 2013 With NA, after the Chelsea game, I had us down to win this game but now I'm not so certain and the bookies have cut the odds on us being relegated. Is that called taking the club forward? If MP is so great why didn't Real Madrid take him... I could well be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he was never interviewed by Real Madrid. Puddings and Monkeys Posted 20 January, 2013 Share Posted 20 January, 2013 To me its quite simple. Cortese wants this club to do well probably more than anyone on this board. He is an egotist and will want to be proved right for starters. I totally appreciate what Adkins has done for this club. But I reckon he was getting out of his depth. Weve all moaned about it. His faffing around with goalkeepers, his frankly bizzare substitutions. I mean for goodness sakes how many winning positions have we given away this season. I feel sorry for Adkins but we are in the Premier League now and Cortese has invested an enormous amount of money for us to be a couple of points above Reading. I am also getting ****ed off with all the ******s coming out of the woodwork as soon as there is some dissent amongst the supporters. I am fully behind Corteses decision ( we are not a ****inn charity) and I am fully behind the new manager. Whats wrong with that ? No ones died . Nige will get a good pay off and another good job. We have a manager that was interviewed by Real Madrid and we are still signing players. Whats the problem ? All this girly mass hysteria is the same as when Pardew got the push. How did that go ? I'm surprised you haven't been crucified for writing this herichy.......which btw, along with Alain Perrin's post on another thread is, IMHO, spot on. oracle saint Posted 20 January, 2013 Share Posted 20 January, 2013 Sing "One Nigel Adkins" by all means, but then follow up immediately with: "Welcome Mauricio" or "We've got Mauricio" (physio tune). Make the new manager feel welcome, he is not the bad guy here and deserves our support. Excellent suggestion. I've been a great believer in Nigel and his obvious passion for the club - but he has made significant errors this season and I can understand Cortese's action. Given that he probably made this decision several weeks ago when we were in the bottom three and haemorrhaging points from naive decision-making the timing appears odd - but it wasn't a knee-jerk reaction; it's been carefully orchestrated to provide continuity and credit to NC for that. Having said that, on a personal level, I'd like to say thanks to Nigel but also to let Pocchettino know that that we welcome him to SFC and bear no personal animosity against him. Ultimately we're all SFC supporters; we and/or the next generation will still be supporters when Cortese is long gone. We've also got to send a message to the players that we're still behind them - so I'm up for this excellent suggestion.

hypochondriac Posted 20 January, 2013 Share Posted 20 January, 2013 All these statements are correct. We should certainly support NA but not at the detriment of the team ie booing if we go a goal down etc All that is pr from the club. Davis will know exactly why we will be expressing our displeasure from the stands tomorrow and will privately know what is going on. Fans have to voice their displeasure and thankfully they will. Davis will know why the fans would chant for Adkins, of course. But he will also know that if we concede a goal and people boo, or chant you don't know what you're doing etc then it reduces our chances of getting points from the game which is ultimately what everyone wants. Singing for Adkins won't both the team but a negative atmosphere will.

Pilchards Posted 20 January, 2013 Share Posted 20 January, 2013 If people are going to sing something then why not 'Thank you very much Nigel Adkins, thank you very much etc.' One minute then move on and support the team & new manager for 90 minutes. I honestly believe we are onto a winner with MP but he needs our support from the off.

What an idiot you are What will it do? It's not his money he is an employee (although a very important one). Why don't you vent your anger at the owners and drive them out of the club. They seem perfectly happy to let NC do all this.... Unless of course, NC is acting under instructions But no one wants to think that What a plumb you are
September Saint Posted 20 January, 2013 Share Posted 20 January, 2013 I'll sing an alternative version: 'There's only one Mauricio Pochettino' How would he know what we're singing? He would not even recognise his name as it is pronounced differently by anglophones. Let's thank NA with a one minutes chant just before kick-off and then get behind the new guy. I hope this is a NC inspired move and the manager doesn't turn out to be a pendejo.

Saint Fan CaM Posted 21 January, 2013 Share Posted 21 January, 2013 You just know that there will be some utter tools that will boo and try to create a poor atmosphere to make their own juvenile little point. Personally, I think we should all wear cut out Nigel masks. That'll show 'em.
Jimmy_D Posted 21 January, 2013 Share Posted 21 January, 2013 Can I suggest an American style 'Thank You Nigel' chant? Gets the point across, but also accepts that he's gone and doesn't transfer any negativity to the new manager or the players we're relying on to avoid relegation. Saint Fan CaM Posted 21 January, 2013 Share Posted 21 January, 2013 Can I suggest we all wear black armbands AND wear Nigel masks? And what if we stand with our backs to the game for 90 minutes - that'll show them. Err, no - scrub that - coz then they won't see our masks. How about we sing a song like "We're not making plans for Nigel"? Yeah, that'll show 'em. There must be some other really cool stuff we can do...come on, don't be shy. Rasiak-9- Posted 21 January, 2013 Share Posted 21 January, 2013 In an ideal world, and were Saints fans able to co-ordinate this sort of thing, I think it'd be great if "one Nigel Adkins" was sung for the entirety of the first half with "Pock-e-tee-no's red'n'whitearrrrmy" (old Lawrie McMenemy chant) sung in the second. With massive cheering for any goals we score and a big encouraging roar when we kick off should we concede.
Wes Tender Posted 21 January, 2013 Share Posted 21 January, 2013 The reason that we lost matches in the past has now become clear. It was because we were chanting "one Nigel Adkins". The same was probably true when we sang the song for Markus Liebherr. After all, he is no longer with us either. So it's plain that if we chant for Nigel, the team will see it is a negative thing and realise that we no longer love them, their heads will drop and the match will be lost. In reality, it is not the same as booing or derisive whistling and is a positive, encouraging sound, which will only be a background noise anyway. As such, it will add to the atmosphere. So I will be chanting it loud and proud, as I'm sure most of the Northam will. If we do well in the match, then Cortese will get off lightly, but if we get tonked, then expect a lot of derision to heaped on his shoulders. It is human nature.
