Saint-Armstrong Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tensions-over-transfers-saw-nigel-1546179 Interesting....
Turkish Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Oh look, another story which confirms what some of us said and were shouted down about.
Crab Lungs Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Well, exactly what I was told by someone on here months ago. Not surprised. Cortese and his boardroom mafia, what tw4ts.
Colinjb Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Bram Nuytinck Finally our mystery desired centre back from the summer has a name. Interesting that it claims our lack of recruitment between the sticks was down to Adkins.
The Kraken Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 "Cortese is understood to want new boss Mauricio Pochettino to form a transfer committee, with himself, head of football development Les Reed and head of recruitment Paul Mitchell." That'll be a nice change.
The Kraken Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Oh look, another story which confirms what some of us said and were shouted down about. Adkins not getting his way over transfers? Wow, who could have predicted that?!
The Kraken Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Yyyaaawwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnn Go to bed Milt, you sorry old soap.
trousers Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Oh look, another story which confirms what some of us said and were shouted down about. Wasn't it you trying to convince people the pope was Catholic too...?
.comsaint Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 I doubt the new gaffer will get to pick who he buys either...
manji Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Cortese tried to sign Theo Walcott. Shocking behaviour.
Turkish Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Adkins not getting his way over transfers? Wow, who could have predicted that?! No no no!! It was the committee. Adkins agreed to them all and knew about them all.
MongoNeil Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Makes some sense and adds credence to some of the rumours on here. Filling the squad with foreign imports though doesn't fit with the policy of bringing players through the academy.
St Chalet Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Cortese tried to sign Theo Walcott. Shocking behaviour. And a goalkeeper, what a ******! I think many on here would agree our failure to bring in a new goalkeeper / loyalty to Kelvin cost us deaf at the start of the season. Anyone know anything about Bram Nuytick?
The Kraken Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 No no no!! It was the committee. Adkins agreed to them all and knew about them all. Yep. Despite approaching another manager to replace him in the summer, and despite our current manager having been approached weeks ago, Nigel Adkins had full control over our transfer policy. Of course he did. Or at least Frankie's cousin and his pals would probably try and still cling to. Glad the truth is finally out, even for those who never wanted to see.
The Kraken Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 And a goalkeeper, what a ******! I think many on here would agree our failure to bring in a new goalkeeper / loyalty to Kelvin cost us deaf at the start of the season. Anyone know anything about Bram Nuytick? Which goalkeeper are you talking about?
Miltonroader07 Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 We will never know the truth, accept it and move on !!
Crab Lungs Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Yep. Once a staunch Cortese advocate and will never deny the good he's done and may continue to do so, but for me he's always going to be a horrible little g1t.
Colinjb Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 And a goalkeeper, what a ******! I think many on here would agree our failure to bring in a new goalkeeper / loyalty to Kelvin cost us deaf at the start of the season. Anyone know anything about Bram Nuytick? Netherlands U21. Plays for Anderlecht. His name is also spelt Nuytinck not Nuytick... silly mirror.
manji Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 I doubt the new gaffer will get to pick who he buys either... Stupid comment. Of course he will it will just have to be verified. Common practise in Italian football. Pochettino will be perfectly aware about how our club is run.
Turkish Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 And a goalkeeper, what a ******! I think many on here would agree our failure to bring in a new goalkeeper / loyalty to Kelvin cost us deaf at the start of the season. Anyone know anything about Bram Nuytick? As some of us said, Adkins wanted to bring in a keeper, then when 'the committee' realised we'd f*cked up we got Boruc as a panic signing as some of us said. It's not been a good day for the CoC. I look forward to an apology, or seeing them try to worm their way our of it, either will do.
St Chalet Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Which goalkeeper are you talking about? "Cortese is believed to have disagreed with the decision of Adkins not to sign a top-class goalkeeper in the summer, particularly as he was forced to make an emergency move for *Artur Boruc outside the transfer window."
Webby Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Netherlands U21. Plays for Anderlecht. His name is also spelt Nuytinck not Nuytick... silly mirror. Not British then, and Adkins wanted him, and now our players are worried about foreigners coming in? Doesn't add up that bit.
St Chalet Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 As some of us said, Adkins wanted to bring in a keeper, then when 'the committee' realised we'd f*cked up we got Boruc as a panic signing as some of us said. It's not been a good day for the CoC. I look forward to an apology, or seeing them try to worm their way our of it, either will do. The article implies NC wanted us to sign a keeper.
The Kraken Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 "Cortese is believed to have disagreed with the decision of Adkins not to sign a top-class goalkeeper in the summer, particularly as he was forced to make an emergency move for *Artur Boruc outside the transfer window." So I assume you're talking about Gazzaniga? Why did they let him sign a million-plus goalkeeper then if "the committee" disagreed with it so much? Weird.
Colinjb Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 The article implies NC wanted us to sign a keeper. Yep. It was Adkins' getting it wrong on that occasion. And seeing as our only backup for Davis was Tommy Forecast, Gazzaniga's signing was a no-brainer.
Frank's cousin Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Yep. Please.. at least get your facts straight, I dont think you will find any post of mine where I say Nigel is in full control of transfers... If the content of this article is accurate, then teh level of disconnect between Nigel and NC on this is surprizing, but NIge not wanting a keeper seems a bit of a mistake...
The Kraken Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 The article implies NC wanted us to sign a keeper. And we did. Three, in fact, over the summer. But then they were probably all "Adkins signings" rather than "committee signings", I suppose.
Turkish Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 The article implies NC wanted us to sign a keeper. Adkins said he wanted to bring in 'one maybe two keepers'
buctootim Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 They are really pushing pedal down on the PR drive - briefings bigging up Ponchettino and trying to blame NA for his own sacking. Sound rattled by the outcry to me.
The Kraken Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Please.. at least get your facts straight' date=' I dont think you will find any post of mine where I say Nigel is in full control of transfers... manji Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Once a staunch Cortese advocate and will never deny the good he's done and may continue to do so, but for me he's always going to be a horrible little g1t. Id expect better from you. Why has he got to be nice ? As long as he achieves results. Which he has. Ive worked with many managers over the years and without fail the "good blokes" are schitt and the tough bastards are good at thier job.
Frank's cousin Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Yep. It was Adkins' getting it wrong on that occasion. And seeing as our only backup for Davis was Tommy Forecast, Gazzaniga's signing was a no-brainer. Ssshhh Turks making a bit of a mess of that one, must be kept quiet.
The Kraken Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Adkins said he wanted to bring in 'one maybe two keepers' Indeed he did. So the committee must take the blame for that.
Webby Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 "Cortese is believed to have disagreed with the decision of Adkins not to sign a top-class goalkeeper in the summer, particularly as he was forced to make an emergency move for *Artur Boruc outside the transfer window." So Adkins didn't want to replace Davis and Cortese did. However, we still needed to buy a backup keeper, gazza, as we'd let Bart go.
Smirking_Saint Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Cortese tried to sign Theo Walcott. Shocking behaviour. As I said in the summer and this window, Saints going for targets out of reach. This is shocking if true though, but fair play to Adkins he kept it from coming out, certainly wasnt well known
harvey Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Well, exactly what I was told by someone on here months ago. Not surprised. Cortese and his boardroom mafia, what tw4ts. I'm not happy with the way things were done yesterday either but life sucks so deal with it................some of you lot are like a buch of big girls blouses!
St Chalet Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Teh truht is taht we signed 3 keepers in the summer Frank. Two U21 keepers, Boruc was signed after the window shut - the assumption must have been that we didn't need a new #1
Turkish Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Ssshhh Turks making a bit of a mess of that one' date=' must be kept quiet.[/quote'] Not at all. Adkins is on record as saying he wanted to bring in possibly two keepers. I assume wasnt talking about Cody Cropper as the second. Ether way, more evidence that had little to no input.
Frank's cousin Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Teh truht is taht we signed 3 keepers in the summer Frank. Well maybe when you have RA in your hands your typing may get worse too... So do you believe the article or not - clearly states a 'TOP CLASS' keeper that NA did NOT want to sign - its either correct or made up... or do you just want to pick and choose which bits add up to support your version?
The Kraken Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Well maybe when you have RA in your hands your typing may get worse too... I just wonder why Cortese is said to have disagreed with Adkins refusal to sign a top keeper yet sanctioned a million pound plus agreement for a keeper. Especially so when £12M Ramirez and this latest Norwegian clearly had minimal imput from the manager.
harvey Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 As some of us said, Adkins wanted to bring in a keeper, then when 'the committee' realised we'd f*cked up we got Boruc as a panic signing as some of us said. Why should they apologise to you?, you're just another nonentity on a 'mongboard'.

The Kraken Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Two U21 keepers, Boruc was signed after the window shut - the assumption must have been that we didn't need a new #1 Assumption by who? We do things by committee, don't we?

I think many on here would agree our failure to bring in a new goalkeeper / loyalty to Kelvin cost us deaf at the start of the season. Anyone know anything about Bram Nuytick? This for me shows that we DO need a committee but it HAS to involve the manager. I am a staunch believer in the committee but everyone needs to pull the same way. This for me shows that A. Adkins probably didnt have his finger on the pulse recruitment wise, some of his signings (forte) werent good enough etc B. A committee HAS to involve the manager as ultimately he has to utilise the players
The Kraken Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Cos we still needed a backup keeper didn't we? I guess we didn't need to spend that much but..... Adkins saying in the press "we need one, maybe two keepers" doesn't suggest to me that we needed backup.
Colinjb Posted 19 January, 2013 Posted 19 January, 2013 Assumption by who? We do things by committee, don't we? According to that article... Nigel. And as for committee... taking the article on face it looks to have been a key point of friction.
