Who will be leaving (players from NA's era)?

Given that Nigel is gone and although he didn't admit to it it's clear that MP will bring his own signings along who do we expect to fall down the pecking order and move away from the club, either now (unlikely) or in the summer?

While it has become quite clear for some of them, new signings may see other more popular players definitely fall out of favour.

GK: I suspect Kelvin will leave at the end of the season. Could see us getting a new keeper from La Liga (definitely an interesting market), to give Boruc a run for his money and allow Gazzaniga to finally have some much-needed game time on loan in the Championship to keep progressing.

Defenders: While Seabourne will be off, I suspect Aaron Martin is out of the club's plans and if we do sign another CB I could see Hooiveld leaving too. This may become our most settled position for years to come, with Fonte/Yoshida/Forren/new signing a potentially strong quartet (and one we can probably manage to keep together for a long time). As for full-backs, Richardson will probably be off in the summer, alongside Butterfield (retire?) and we'll probably try to bargain with a NPC club for Danny Fox. With Clyne and Shaw looking to stick around, and a couple of youngsters around their positions as well, I suspect we will sign another RB and rely on Clyne to do a job on the left (which he did without much trouble) should Shaw get injured, assuming their progression carries on at such high levels.

Midfield: Schneiderlin, Cork and Davis will remain and JWP seems to be a safe bet in a few years (loaned out for a short time may be good?). In fact I think it all depends on how the rest of the season goes for Steven, because I suspect he wants first-team football and will leave if MP does not give him that chance/prefers a new signing of his. Ramirez will definitely be a big part of his plans and Lallana is of a very high standard as well and I'm sure he will appreciate Adam's flair. While most people don't think so I expect Guly to leave, as will De Ridder and here I can see at least two La Liga/Serie A signings (or at least players of Hispanic origin coming in). Chaplow I reckon will be off as well. I expect Isgrove, Chambers and a couple of other academy starlets to get their respective chances.

Puncheon is a very big question mark for me. More than the fans, MP has a big challenge in getting the best out of him just like NA until now. Let's see if he'll even bother.

Strikers: Rodriguez is a bet for the future and will feature more and more. Lambert will carry on featuring but I can see a traditional PL mid-tabler lining up an offer for him (Stoke, West Ham or the like) and we won't say no. I expect us to bring in a heavy sounding signing should RL leave.

What do you people reckon? These are all predictions so feel free to discuss...

I don't see the change in manager having an impact on the names leaving. We know there are some who aren't good enough, some who just aren't going to get game time and some younger players that might not make the grade. I don't see MP coming onboard changing this really.

Those who are good enough will have a part to play. If we achieve the success we're aiming for, even better players will come in and may push out currently good enough players, but that would be the case with Adkins as much as MP.

Time will tell I guess.

It will be interesting to see how RL is used now MP is coaching. We may find out if the decision to drop him for some games/substitute him was down to Adkins' tactics or was an edit passed down by NC & friends to phase him out of the team.

Seemed odd that he was being linked with moves to Championship clubs towards the end of the summer window.

If you're to believe one of the articles in the tabloids which said that Cortese told the squad they weren't good enough, what's to stop someone like Lambert leaving? He wasn't good enough for lower league clubs once, and had to fight tooth and nail for a contract with the likes of Macclesfield.

This could well be the start of some massive changes in our team.

Cant see the 'phasing out of Lambert' being an NC choice. He remains the best NC signing and NC will be aware he is a very key reason for his arrival in the Prem. Team selections were NA's and Lambert started 20/22 which is fairly high IMO.

Yes, those are two players that are currently a grey area. Especially, Mayuka. We spent, what, £3.5M on him and have hardly played him. I'm intrigued to know why, although we probably never will. Was he a Cortese-driven signing that Adkins went along with?

Tadanari - highly thought of last year, but hardly featuring this season. I know he has been injured, and you could say his place has gone to Gaston.

Of all our players, these two are maybe at risk of being released or loaned out.

Of course, if Mayuka plays a fantastic ACoN, then we'll have the option to sell or retain and play him.

Mayuka is a young player part of the first team plans.

Lee should probably look for a move elsewhere given his age and lack of impact here plus other options we have.

The position in the team of Sir Rickie is a worry. Raeding about MP he likes to play from the back, use the full width of the pitch and close the oposition down high up the pitch. Not one of Rickies strong points. But without him playing we are a lessor team.

I can see Rickie becoming a heroic super sub putting all of energy into 30 min cameo appearances similar to man city & Chelsea

His strengths are in order

Strength ( although to strong for his own good at times )

Heading

Holding play up

Bringing others into game

Passing

Shooting

Drifting into space

Using all his energy for the team

Not to mention pens

Lambert will continue to play until we can find somebody who is as good on the ball, in the air and in front of goal but also more mobile. That's not going to be cheap because lambert is an astonishingly good footballer.

Good call; if SRL was more mobile he really would be an England candidate and I cannot imagine MP discarding him. I'll stick my neck out and say MP will get the best out of Mayuka who we have not seen the best of yet.

Tandanari, Mayuka and Yoshida were all bought primarily for commercial reasons - to open up markets in Africa and Japan for sponsorship deals and generate revenue.

As previously discussed, the changes we will see will come at the back in terms of defensive shape and up top in terms of players who have pace and ball skills. I think Puncheon will now stay. De Ridder may actually be given an opportunity to shine. Gaston will play. Lallana may keep his place if he can stay fit. We will see more of JRod and less of Lambert until the Manager starts to panic. We will see more youth like Ward-Prowse. We may see a new foreign playmaker to replace Davis or even Cork (who are not getting into advanced positions enough and scoring goals). Not sure where Lee or Mayuka will fit in one maybe covers for Gaston? I can see Gazza being given another shot in goal.

Tadanari, yes. Mayuka and Yoshida however were already in Europe so I believe there was a footballing sense behind their signings (particularly Yoshida who has been good IMO).

As for Lee, I think he is not providing us with much now as while the mere occurrence of a signing attracts a lot of people from the country/region of the globe, once the hype from that does not transfer to him featuring regularly there's not a lot for the club to gain from keeping the player and it's clear there are others in front of him. I expect him to fly back to Japan soon enough.
