out of interest DD, when you get a new commander even though you liked the old one you don't work any less well do you?

It's exactly the same with footballers I expect, there's a structure and change happens.

new Head Chef would be more appropriate i think.

Well someone has made Shaw delete his "tweet" from yesterday. Make of that what you will.

which one was that?

Sadly you'll never get to see this controversial tweet now Turkish, unless of course some scallywag is able to view it still on their mobile and get a screenshot, but that would never happen would it?..............................

Surely you're not suggesting that football fans are as fickle as our chairman....? ;)

I am, although I'm not the sort of person to exclude myself from such a charge. I had serious doubts about Nige in the depths of November; everyone did. I was happy enough with NA before all this turmoil. I agree with other posters that he seemed to be finding his feet. At the same time though, I think everyone needs to appreciate that we're only a game away from being in the mire again. I watched the Villa and the Chelsea game. The record will show 3pts gained, but damn, we rode our luck. It was not a convincing victory. Benteke missed chances he should have put away.

Chelsea was superb, but again, questions were being asked by commentators ( not by me ) about our lack of cutting edge.

I was shocked at NA's exit, but it's not like the new bloke is Poortvielt standard, or that there weren't weaknesses in NA's game. I can see why some see it as harsh, but I can see where it fits in with the overall plan.

People bang on about getting no information from the club, yet they've been upfront about the grand plan since day one. Forge a new style of football and use the youth team to produce a side that challenges for trophies. Everything about this decision seems consistent with their day one objectives.

We wanna be in a position to challenge for trophies and/or European places? We need players; the market is full of buyers with deep pockets or clubs with more money than sense. Most fans would be happy merely to survive in the Premiership. Survival is vitally important, I agree - but if we just scrape it, we'll be billed exactly the same way as we were this year - potential relegation candidates.

No idea whether this is the correct decision. No one does, really. However, if the gamble pays off, we get that winning mentality back again and show some sort of upward trajectory in the latter half of the season, we'll be seen as something else.

The Players are Professionals and paid a lot of money by the club not the manager. Whatever their views of Adkins they will be keen to impress the new boss. I think it's just Echo propaganda.

But the very young players might get confused mighten they ? Silly boy, they should just all be banned from tweeting, stupid idea anyway.

I'm sure if the club hadn't published any video or photos of this training session some people would be accusing them of concealing how upset the players were...

Just like if Nige had been canned without a replacement, they'd be moaning about that too.

Do you know what would have stopped anyone moaning about anything? That rat faced c u nt not sacking our manager.

Your "some people are never satisfied" routine doesn't really work here boys.

FERK ME! Does it matter who manages the team, as long as we are successful!!

So you'd be happy if Jimmy Savile had led us to promotion from the Championship? Or if Josef Fritzl had been in charge when we won the JPT? I think it does matter.

Id like to see Adkins release his own video, showing him being happy as he goes about his new life. Maybe a shot of him going into Waitrose, flashing his compensation and buying some good wine. Or maybe of him running around the snow or making a Richard chaplow snowman.

Mate of mine is friends with Adam Lallana from school and he wrote "WTF Southampton" on facebook after news broke about Nigel.

Adam commented on the post saying "Everyone is surprised, sad and gutted"

Make of that what you will

Err that he's sad, surprised and gutted? I expect he has already put in a transfer request and is on strike.

Sounds like cast iron fact to me....even without a screen shot to back it up. Keep the insights coming...

Few games time, could all have been different - people could be calling for his head. We'll never know.

Pretty clear now that there was a rift between Cortese and Adkins. Would it have been better for them to continue to work together despite communication breakdown?

Sorry fella, but you well-meaning Saints fans who know how to run a football club had your chance in 2009. The administrators were actively seeking buyers, and I didn't see any Saints fans weighing in with the millions to save us from oblivion.

We were taken over outright, turned back into a private enterprise, losing the transparency that we used to have as a PLC, but had all our debt wiped out, investment year on year and delivery to plan ahead of schedule. Premiership in five years? We got here in three.

But no, let's have it all ways, shall we? Thanks for the money and the investment and all that, but don't you dare make recruitment decisions we don't like. I knew from day one we'd have to take the rough with the smooth. Rough on NA? Definitely. Rough on the team? Remains to be seen.

Had about 7 million in internet pledges though, most of them from 5 year old kids.

You are getting boring mate. If you are devoting a whole login and thousands of posts to being a WUM at least try to be a good WUM.

You have wummed for a while but been overtaken by new more creative WUMs now.
