Draw a line under it.....and move on

However you are in a small minority.

Sorry Hypo, but you can't know that.

Many fans will be more concerned that the team starts winning games rather than worrying about what Nigel Adkins does next, which will probably be to work for another lower league club. Whatever he does, good luck to him, but it is also true that like the Chairman, some fans were not convinced by NA. Despite the two promotions he didn't actually win either L1 or the Championship on the way and last year's promotion almost slipped away towards the end. His record on transfers-in is not brilliant as several have been used only as substitutes. His record this season is not without blemishes, even with all the drawn games recently, because we are still just on course for 38 points and possible relegation. But like it or not, we have to move on and any fan who wants to see the Saints in the top half of the Prem or just comfortable mid-table, can play their part by supporting the team regardless of who is manager. It does look like MP is someone with all the right credentials so to adopt NA's own approach, we should draw a Blue Line and move on.

I'd suggest you look at the poll at the top of this board. It's pretty clear.

I am firmly against the NA sacking. I loved having him here, best Manager of my 25 years of life.

I will support the new Manager and hope he does better than Adkins was doing. It isnt his fault he is here and I will give him a fair chance rather than being against him from the start.

I want the team to win and push on in this league so dont want a Chelsea style atmosphere at SMS.

Ah right, you must have missed our whole away support at West Brom, QPR the Northam most home games singing his name throughout.

I'm not saying its on mass, but there were lots of people doubting NA's tactical decisions after making substitutions which cost us the games earlier in the season. Even people I go home and away with who before the EPL were behind him 100%.

Recently the fans have been backing him vocally because things have turned around, a few losses and they would soon turn again.

NC pulled us from the edge of extintion, he appointed NA, he now sees this move as neccesary,

so Im willing to trust his decision. Thanks to NA for all he has done but its NC that saved us - dont forget

People always question managerial decisions, I don't think he got everything right and have stated that at the time. You get Man Utd fans moaning about some of Fergie's decisions, doesn't mean they want him out.

And you're trying to rewrite history there - the loud vocal backing of Adkins came when we were at our absolute lowest this season - it was first class support and what supporting a football club should be all about.

We were never going to be extinct. Is there ANY decision from Cortese you wouldn't be happy with?

Chelsea style atmosphere? Are we going to be booing our striker? No. Are many suggesting booing the new manager? No.

Has Man Utd's protests against their board affected their performances on the pitch? No.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, on the whole, our club is in a fantastic place. Cortese had a lot to do with that!

MY opinion.

To which I respect. Try respecting opinions different to yours and being a little less insulting to other posters.

I am still stunned this morning but I know we just have to deal with it,what probably makes it all worse for me is that we will never know why now and for what reason ? our club has become so secretive on everything transfers/injurys/ etc it sometimes feel like we have no idea on whats going on?,Cortese needs to come out and explain his new goals and ambitions for the club and try and get the supporters back on side.

I feel like this new guy is facing a uphill struggle as we are no better than a bottom half team,if NC wants top half/European football we need a lot of players and unless he is going to invest tens of millions we are not going to get there that is a fact.I would be surprised if MP made it to the start of next season.

I respect the OP's sentiments, but it will take me quite a long time to get over how my club has treated Adkins, who I have the upmost respect for. That said, if I could make it to the game on Monday I would not boo, but sing plenty of Adkins songs whilst also supporting the team. COYR

Last time Adkins future was really in doubt, couldn't vote either way on the poll.

Haven't voted either way in this one either.

Likewise. I'm pretty sure the "Don't knows" are in the majority.

I firmly believe we should take our lead from Adkins' philosophically outlook on life....."draw a line and and move on...."

The poll asked in the other thread was asking whether it was the right decision to get rid of NA, but that's not the subject the original post was about.

Was getting rid of Adkins the wrong decision? Yes, I believe it's one of the most farcical sackings in PL history and feel incredibly sorry for NA who will now be a club legend in my eyes

Do I want to move on from this and support the team? Yes, because I believe wallowing in self pity and thinking if I hate Cortese enough it'll bring NA back is ultimately a waste of time.

I'd suggest you look at the poll at the top of this board. It's pretty clear.

About a quarter (500) of the active SWF members voted "No". That leaves c.75% of the active membership who haven't voted, a significant proportion of which would probably vote "don't know" if that option was available, myself included. (so, roughly the same sort of proportion of the country that voted for David Cameron in 2012.... ;) )

I would also venture that a significant percentage of the "No" votes would be "Don't know" if that option was available. In the equivalent "Pardew Sacked" poll the 95% figure came down to 55% as there was a "don't know" option (which attracted c.35% of the vote).

Gosh....I think I'm turning into MLG.... ;)

Yep, you're making stuff up to suit your point of view, when the actual facts are pretty clear.

Which bit was made up?

Pretty much your whole post was made up. You've got no idea how many people would vote "Don't know", so you've made up a figure to suit your argument. The results of the poll are pretty clear.

Probably best to go back to posting twitter or wikipedia links than just making stuff up yourself.
