Weston Super Saint Posted 25 November, 2008 Posted 25 November, 2008 It is suggested that ALL Dorset pubs will have to stock a locally produced Dorset Real Ale. Now I can see where they're coming from with the idea of keeping local businesses going, but I have two issues... 1. Not all pubs are aimed at the kind of market that attracts real ale drinkers. 2. Not all landlords are able to look after real ale, which requires a lot more work and effort than fizzy euro pop beer does. If the ale does get ****ed up by a landlord that hasn't got a clue what they're doing, the customers may think it is the beer that is no good, and thus have a detrimental effect on the local brewers...
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 25 November, 2008 Posted 25 November, 2008 Any kind of link to this suggestion? Somewhere here.
jawillwill Posted 25 November, 2008 Posted 25 November, 2008 Somewhere here. That's pretty much exactly what I was thinking! Of course that would never happen! Although, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea! :drinkers:
Weston Super Saint Posted 25 November, 2008 Author Posted 25 November, 2008 Any kind of link to this suggestion? It was on BBC news at lunch time today. Can't find anything on the BBC website though.
TopGun Posted 26 November, 2008 Posted 26 November, 2008 Can't see how it could be made mandatory anyway. Sure to break some form of competition or cartel law.
