Fans Protest - Everton Home

How can you say that the way I feel is total bo11ox? I just think that the club is more than bricks and mortar and the 11 players on the pitch, I liked it when our club was respected for doing things the right way and for me a part of what made Southampton FC dies today with such a disgraceful low blow.

OK. Now I'm sure that you're Neil Allen.

Remember we are not Chelsea!! we are not safe by a long way and we are in a relegation battle, this new guy has done nothing wrong and deserves our full support, there is nothing wrong with one nigeladkins chants but you have to give the new guy a chance.

We still have to get behind the team as nobody is bigger than Southampton FC and that includes Cortese

I totally agree.

Yes I have a lot of sympathy for Adkins and he did a wonderful job getting 2 promotions in 2 years but you have to look at the long term position. I would just love it if Saints had a team capable of getting into Europe. I don't want us just making up the numbers every season always being in a relegation battle. Lets think positive and see where this club can go.

Seconded. It is OUR club not Cortese's. But for those concerned Everton will be the LAST game I go to all season.

Actually the club belong to the estate of Markus - we are not like the PST and have a wonderful fans "buy a share" - would be funny if we hit champions league spot this season - I wonder who will be returning then ?

Unfortunatly I don't think there is a lot that can be done without destabalising the team? This is something we cannot afford to happen unless you want relegation?

True. As it happens I respect the players, they've worked hard and earned their chance. The likes of Lallana and Lambert deserve to be in the prem, they've been patient and worked hard. But I don't honestly feel I can be all happy clappy in the stands without it endorsing NC's decision. I think we all accept we're likely to have some conflicted emotions ;)

The business belongs to him, the "club" belongs to the fans. If we all decided to bugger off and reform our own AFC club then it'd be ours in every sense and they'd be left with a franchise akin to american sports where a team is moved around the country on whim. Champions league or not it's not all about the glory for some of us.

Exactly this. Sad to see how quickly some fans lap up the modern football business world.

Red my post again to ensure accuracy - if we were NOW currently rooted to teh bottom' date=' those same fans WOULD we looking for action... you know it, I know it so get over this emotional drivel FFS[/quote'] You're making stuff up for some reason and look a fool for doing so. I'm talking about facts. No-one got on Adkins back, he had great support even when results were very poor.

Its called illustrating a point...

I suggest those looking foolish are those that are reacting in the collective 'grief' and in some sort of desperate need to 'emote' publically....

I am embarrassed by the amount of our fans that are rolling over and taking this.

Are you really? The ones I thought would roll over are exactly those that are. All they give a **** about is success on the pitch and not that a great man and a more importantly a great manager has been shafted by that little **** of a chairman. What do we actually stand for as fans of our football club. Chelsea are showing they have more arsehole than we will ever have. We should protest and make our feelings known and not accept the chairman making crazy rash decisions like this.

I honestly hope we go down now. One Nigel Adkins.

+1. I couldn't give a f*ck about the rest of our season and couldn't care less if we get relegated.

No it's not. We can show our absolute disgust at this decision and I pray to god that's what the majority of people do on Monday night. The vast majority posting on here about rolling over and accepting it will probably be watching the game on Sky anyway.

I won't be, I'll be down at St. Mary's cheering on the lads.

Already decided I'm going to stand up and applaud Pochettino when he walks onto the pitch.

Keep making stuff up if you want. I don't think anyone takes you seriously anyway.

having been at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, sitting among Chelsea fans venting vitriol towards their mananger and players I really hope there's no protest as you can see the affect it's having on their home performances.

I'm sick to the stomach at what's been done to Adkins and potentionally to our chances of staying up, but stay up we must, and we must get behind the team during the game!

Whatever protest materialises at whatever time, please let's hope this idea doesn't take off: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/10172160.Saints_fans_plan_Adkins_protest/ :uhoh:

This is why he whole protest issue is ridiculous - Any protest is surely aimed at Cortese about his decision. He is Swiss Italian, so not sure he will get the white hankies thing... protesting in a Spanish way > What the feck is MacMillan (corrected) thinking... support the team on the pitch - this constant 'we are fans and we must have our say' is just selfish ******.

Hopefully it's like Doncaster at home in the Championship. Fans trying to get on the pitch and people trying to get into the directors box to have a pop at Rupert Lowe. Nothing would please me more today than seeing Cortese get a smack.

What's it got to do with Nick Illingsworth, who's not mentioned once in the article? Did you even read it? :?

i am happy to join the Nigel chants but I will not boo the team, the new manager or Cortese. We are better than Chelsea.

This this and this.

I will join in on the Adkins chants to pay tribute. I do not want the sour atmosphere we have experienced in the past. It's vile and effects the team. Get behind the new manager and players.

Would love to see reaction on here if this new guy does well. Reminds me a bit of those two knobs moaning about the parking where people are saying the won't go to St Mary's again this season. Get a bloody life.

NA had a win ratio of just over 54% - how about one minutes applause on 54 minutes?

Ridiculous, I hate all this ****ing clapping on certain minutes, if there is a protest it should be done at half time, so what what if the sky cameras are there, the protest shouldn't be for their benefit, it's to let Cortese know people are ****ed off. ooh look at us sky tv we're not happy

Anyone booing or protesting through the game are ******s and should **** off home, what a great idea, lets all create a horrible toxic atmosphere for the players to play in, sounds like a cracking idea, whilst we're at it we could boo some of the players we don't like just to let them know, that should help us win games.

Like it or not he's here, we need to make him welcome and judge him on results without making his job impossible because if he fails Southampton fail

Whilst its a massive shame that Adkins has gone and the timing is terrible, is Cortese's decision to get rid of him any different that Nigel getting rid of Sharp...or dropping Davis, Chaplow, Fox etc.

Nigel got rid of those players because he wanted to improve and progress the team, I guess Nicola feels he is doing the same.

Nigel will always be a legend in our eyes and we should let him know during the live game, but please don't protest during the game, have we not learnt anything from Chelsea and Blackburn....it just doesn't work.

Spot on, 100% agree.

Chelsea have won 6 games in a row away from home, home record is awful............

I agree with you, but some may say it was NC who picked the team, and therefore he is responsible for dropping players or getting rid.

They always say no one man is bigger than the club, but obviously this was in the days before NC and the Chelsea chairman.

We need someway of showing our feelings, but can't think how this can be achieved without affecting the players, perhaps if everyone were to boycott the food and drink kiosks for the rest of the season?

I agree with the above and other posters like blakey, golac and marsdinho. Fact is protesting will change nothing if you don't like it then don't turn up on monday just to sit there booing or shout insults.

We can either go one of two ways one be like Chelsea,Blackburn and Newcastle fans and spread a atmosphere full of negativity that will seep throughout the whole club which would ultimately see us suffer.

Or like adkins always said we now on monday thank nigel and move on with everyone together, fully behind the new manager and his staff.

We must now show our greatest support to the management and players for the rest of the season but more so over the next month as we can really have a effect as to how this plays out.

Chelseas home support has only hindered them since Benitez was installed, all the booing the manager dies nothing for the team

one of the things I love about football is how out of my hands it is, win lose, or draw, relegation or cl football, I can't do ****, just gotta enjoy the ride.

Cortese has got us this far, I'll start hating him if this doesnt work n we go down and lose key players. I didnt wanna see Nigel go but if NC says so I'm happy to back him, for now....

Anyone who stages a protest should be ignored by real fans simply because protests can only help the opposing team. Any so called Saints' fan who wants to do that should examine their motives. As others have said, the decision has been taken and is irreversible therefore nothing can be achieved by protesting. The new manager played no part in the decision and his objectives are the same as the fans, to have a successful team. Only Saints' fans who are as stupid as some of the ignorant individuals amongst the Chelsea support should protest, so let the rest of us ignore them and support the team.
