saintfully Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Looking at these guys track record, this has unmitigated disaster written all over it. Still, life in the NPC was fun and even L1 had its upsides. Down we go................................................ again.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 So, very similar to what I've been told by another journo this moring except he gathered it was happening today. if Nc going to do this why do it on day of a home game when he will get pelters and the fans will sing adkins name the whole game. just doesnt add up.
alpine_saint Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Wait... what? I thought he'd made a terrible hash of everything? Who said that ? I have generally been always supportive (though I imagine he is a right pain on the transfer front). The only minor positive to come out here is at least he has someone lined up, unlike Rupert "Irons in the Fire, but appoints Wigley cos he's cheap and malleable" Lowe
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Unfortunately this follows what I was told at the end of October, that Adkins was working his 'notice' whilst Cortese searched for the Manager he wanted and that it didn't matter how Adkins performed, he would be replaced.
georgeweahscousin Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Betting sites reporting Adkins is gone.
alpine_saint Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 if Nc going to do this why do it on day of a home game when he will get pelters and the fans will sing adkins name the whole game. 'Cos hes a perv too. Seriously, that sort of attention to his decision just feeds his power trip.
alpine_saint Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Seems to me that this was writing on the wall since his post-match interview against Coventry.
Saint Garrett Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Goal.com say he's been sacked. This is utter madness.
Tom8558 Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Really hope that this is the effect of all being stuck at home because of the snow and rumours snowballing. Changing managers now would have the reverse effect and we would end up getting relegated. Keep NA and get Forren and we can look forward to continued improvement in the second half of the table and a lower mid-table finish. My thought is that NC sounded out Pochettino earlier in the season in case we continued to slide and NA was sacked, and that the rumour has gone from there.
Saint Scott Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Time to form an angry mob and start throwing some snowballs at Saint Mary's in protest!
Webby Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 I feel sick in the stomach. Don't like this at all.
itchen_dan Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Just been told this by the same journo i spoke to earlier: "Forren was meant to be done on Tuesday. Cortese hasn't been around + Forren might change his mind if Adkins goes. Busy day... "
Saint Garrett Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Betting suspended on skybet. And Paddy Power. crazy times.

itchen_dan Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 I am shaking with shock. Absolute shock. Speechless.
Colinjb Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Only one emotion right now. Fury, absolute and total fury.
Suhari Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Can't be related....? Guillem Balague @GuillemBalague I have been told 2day a great friend of mine will get his dream come true! U will all be talking about it later. What a clever replacement! Guillem BalagueVerified @GuillemBalague People might think its a bit left field but two of the cleaverest guys are about to be given a superjob. We'll celebrate later
Katalinic Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 I am shaking with shock. Absolute shock. Speechless. I can't say I am - nothing surprises me anymore with football and something has not been right with NA/NC for a while - the post-match comments after the Coventry promotion game were bizarre.
alpine_saint Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Even as someone who was at times skeptical of NAs ability to reach this level, this has got to rate as one of the worst decisions in our history, up along side Lowes decision not to re-employ Hoddle.
jayrivers Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 I'm holding onto hope that this hasn't been reported by BBC or Sky Sports yet? Maybe there is just a little hope until then?

It will only be a bad decision if Pochettino doesn't perform. If he does we will all be happy and NA forgotten - thats football fans for you.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 FFS I really hope this isn't true. The best manager we have had in my lifetime.
alpine_saint Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Oh great so lose a Manager and a potential signing on the same day. Along with any other signings in this window. After carefully drafting lists of targets by committee, the reset button has just been pressed on the whole process.
derry Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 I would have thought that if there was any mileage in a change the manager is already there today. If a change after 18 points in 12 games and playing well is the solution then NC is an idiot. I don't believe that anyone in their right mind would go for a change at such a vital time. The managerial bounce could just as easily end up a nosedive if the players don't respond.
lillyflo Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Does Cortese not hear us sing "One Nigel Adkins" at every match, surely the fans opinions should be taken into account to a degree....if (and i hope it doesn't) Nigel does go, we have got to somehow let him know how important he was to us and that he will be missed....Hopefully this is all a load of crap and wum have convinced people of the crap.
trousers Posted 18 January, 2013 Author Posted 18 January, 2013 "Nigel Adkins" now trending on Twitter

You dont really believe that, do you ? The story has too much legs. Somethings happened
Colinjb Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Boycott everton game? I was really looking forward to that game.... not so much now. A boycott wouldn't do any good.... the team need to know we are behind them.
jayrivers Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 People calling NC all sorts when nothing has happened is a bit premature. There is still the chance this is not happening? Is there any proof as to when the meeting was? Could it have been after 10 games? Denial is the best policy here!
trousers Posted 18 January, 2013 Author Posted 18 January, 2013 Boycott everton game? How would cutting off nose to spite face help? That's what Chelsea fans have done. We're cleverer than that.
supergoose Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Insane if true. Another very lucky club will get a great manager in NA.
Clunge Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 As crazy as this decision seems and unfair on Adkins everyone freaked out when cortese did the same to pardew and look where we are now…
MOSaint Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 From a guy who works on the spanish website (todomercadoweb) that broke the news: Alex de Llano @AlexDeLlano @incongruousm I understand that Pochettino will be announced as Soton's manager on Monday. View conversation He later amended it to say: Alex de Llano @AlexDeLlano @incongruousm Monday or the following days. Diabolical. Adkins is doing as good a job as anyone could with the players we have. Pochettino, while his managerial record at Espanyol, this season aside, is OK, NA is the only man for the job IMO.
