Stepgar Posted 17 January, 2013 Posted 17 January, 2013 I have emailed the TO to try and find out how many tickets we have been allocated yet they haven't come back to me. Does anybody know or have an idea?? I think this is a 100% winnable game and would love to see us take over the stadium like we did against Wimbledon all those years ago. This is propbably my one opportunity to go to an away game in years due to work and family commitment so would love the chance to go.
oldsarum Posted 17 January, 2013 Posted 17 January, 2013 Away fans are located in the North Stand at one end of the stadium, where up to 5,400 visiting supporters can be accommodated. http://www.footballgroundguide.com/wigan_athletic/
Sour Mash Posted 17 January, 2013 Posted 17 January, 2013 I think it's something like 5,400, the whole away end. Plenty of tickets anyway.
pingwing Posted 17 January, 2013 Posted 17 January, 2013 They didn't say but the general implication from Wigan is "HERE'S ALL OF THEM COME TO WIGAN PLEASE! we need money" Pretty reasonable as its only 20 a pop
krissyboy31 Posted 17 January, 2013 Posted 17 January, 2013 Would good to have a really big turn out there. I'm guessing (sine we've never played there) that it's a new ground to most.
Stepgar Posted 17 January, 2013 Author Posted 17 January, 2013 Let's take over this dump Grab yah pitch forks I tell ye!
Dr Who? Posted 17 January, 2013 Posted 17 January, 2013 I will go if I can buy tickets on the day for me and the little ones.
Shroppie Posted 17 January, 2013 Posted 17 January, 2013 Got my ticket and cheap train. Looking forward to a fun day out and hopefully a win.
SaintBobby Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 I'm so up for this one. New stadium for me, massive game and (I'm guessing) biggest away following since Derby in the play-off semi?
Appy Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 I'm so up for this one. New stadium for me, massive game and (I'm guessing) biggest away following since Derby in the play-off semi? Palace away last year was bigger.
Matthew Le God Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 New stadium for me, massive game and (I'm guessing) biggest away following since Derby in the play-off semi? We took 6,000 to Palace last season.
SaintBobby Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 What did we take to Derby? Thought it was 6.5K?
Appy Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 What did we take to Derby? Thought it was 6.5K? 5 thousand.
SaintBobby Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 5 thousand. Really? Felt like much more...I stand corrected!
saints triumph Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Having a w/e in wigan. Taking me whippet and flatcap to blend in with the locals. Hay up
Stepgar Posted 28 January, 2013 Author Posted 28 January, 2013 As Wigan is less than a week away and I know we have the small trip to Manchester on Wednesday but we raise the profile of this game. This is clearly a winnable game and should take as many fans as possible. At 20 quid a pop. The coach up is 26. Not bad. Does anybody live up that way as weather could impact the game?
bangkoksaint Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 I do and it is and will be fine. I'm in the Wigan end as typical saints they couldn't deal with selling the tickets efficiently. Same on Wednesday when I'm in the Stretford end.
SFC Chris Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 I do and it is and will be fine. I'm in the Wigan end as typical saints they couldn't deal with selling the tickets efficiently. Same on Wednesday when I'm in the Stretford end. What was the issue with tickets? I ordered mine online on Wednesday and received them in the post on Friday?

Same on Wednesday when I'm in the Stretford end. Ordered on Tuesday for Wigan, delivered on Thursday. So unsure why you had problems getting a ticket in Saints end.
shirleysfc Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 I went to the stadium and got four on Saturday, no problem.
Saint Garrett Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Be great to get 3k up there for this, Huge game for both sides, and we can turn this into a 'home' fixture. Support will be huge and tickets are cheap. If you're a maybe, just get yourselves a ticket the team needs YOU!!!

I live in Liverpool and the weather will be fine, well looking forward to this, new stadium, good place for a **** up and pies, you have to have to have the pies. As a Southerner I can honestly say our fish and chips are crap, absolute ****e compared to the chippys up here.
Wiggles31 Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 How many was Orient? That was over 6k wasn't it? Awesome day that was.
Ken Tone Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Used to live near Wigan many years ago, when they were a 3th or 4th division club with a ground that made Fratton Park look like Wembley. Hard to adjust to them being a fairly well-established premier league club (Well, up to this year of course!) Wigan is historically a rubgy league town, not a football one, and only a small place anyway with lots of other football clubs locally competing for fans. If ever there was a genuine case of "your ground's too big for you", it's Wigan.
Barry Sanchez Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 I think its a great place though, friendly and the trains stations are right in the town centre so easy to go on the lash, better than Preston, Warrington and other towns around there for the ale.
jasonb Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Can you pay on the day in the prem at away games?? Got it into my head that you can't for some reason.
Barry Sanchez Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Can you pay on the day in the prem at away games?? Got it into my head that you can't for some reason. Only for the home end.
jasonb Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Hmm. As I suspected. Want to take my son but realised he has to have a customer number to get one online now. Shame as its very cheap. Suppose I could sit in the home end with him like I will be at OT on Wednesday.
Shroppie Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Can you pay on the day in the prem at away games?? Got it into my head that you can't for some reason. I did at Stoke, but that's the only place I've seen it. It wasn't even advertised but their ticket office confirmed I could do it.
Shroppie Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Can you pay on the day in the prem at away games?? Got it into my head that you can't for some reason. Just checked with Wigan ticket office. "Highly likely there WILL be a cash turnstile for away fans" Decision on Thursday - phone then for confirmation. Number is 0871 66 33 552, options 1,1,2.

Suppose I could sit in the home end with him like I will be at OT on Wednesday. Have you tried calling the Southampton ticket office and explaining that you want to take your lad ? There is also an option, if you have a customer number, to get more than one ticket through your number?

Shroppie Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 That dastardly woman! I thought she was quite pleasant.
Barry Sanchez Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 She was to be honest but she said no about sales on the day, no bother as I got tickets sent up but I wish she knew.
Shroppie Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Got mine too, but thought the info could be useful as there seem to be quite a few without tickets thinking they might try to turn up on the day. Which would be good. We can make this like a home game.
Red Alert Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 I am there, with my Liverpool supporting mate. Villa away was his first ever game with me so i insisted he came to this too, just in case.
Stepgar Posted 28 January, 2013 Author Posted 28 January, 2013 I am there, with my Liverpool supporting mate. Villa away was his first ever game with me so i insisted he came to this too, just in case. Ooooo.....good thinking. Anyone else got a good luck thingy? Who went to QPR?
jasonb Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Just checked with Wigan ticket office. Nice one cheers :-) There is also an option, if you have a customer number, to get more than one ticket through your number? Tried to do just that today... only to discover I can only buy myself a ticket on my customer number now. The option to add my "friends" and "family" to my account was there... I'll need to get him a number at some point by the looks of it. Got mine too, but thought the info could be useful as there seem to be quite a few without tickets thinking they might try to turn up on the day. Which would be good. We can make this like a home game. Very useful info, thanks for taking time to post ! Agreed, massive game and would be awesome to get as many as poss up there. As I said I have cheap tickets for Man U in the upper North (binoculars at the ready) but would love to let my son sample the atmos in the Saints end.. he loved Burnley away last year.. I even caught him singing towards the end of that game as we pushed for the winner!!
sotonjoe Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Ticket office procedures are a joke. Went down there today and brought total of 16 tickets in four separate transactions without anybody stopping me. I even made the last two transactions with Becky Goodyear just to rub it in, but she didn't have a clue. So now I'm the proud owner of 16 tickets for this fixture. Pm me if you want to buy one.
Saint Garrett Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Ooooo.....good thinking. Anyone else got a good luck thingy? Who went to QPR? I'm staying with a uni mate from Manchester, who is a city fan. Only ever time he's seen Southampton was when I took him to that 1-0 at hillsborough, think it was Adkins first game? Or first win anyway.

JustinR Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Ooooo.....good thinking. Anyone else got a good luck thingy? Who went to QPR? I have an unbeaten away record this season.. went to Fulham and Villa. I'm going to Wigan. In fact Ive only ever seen one defeat away from home and that was Bristol City (and that technically was at home coz I live in Bristol . Went to Millwall, Coventry and City last season. So I guess we're due a defeat
sotonjoe Posted 28 January, 2013 Posted 28 January, 2013 Jasonb will be your man!! He needs two! Lol Really? Get him to pm me. I don't want to rip anyone off, but think it's only a fair to make a bob or two. Tickets are £25 face value so £30 each?

"Highly likely there WILL be a cash turnstile for away fans" Decision on Thursday - phone then for confirmation. Number is 0871 66 33 552, options 1,1,2. Cheers for this - our ticket office was very doubtful that this would be the case. Not sure if I'll be finished work in time so it may be my only option...I can't do away ends!
Lets B Avenue Posted 29 January, 2013 Posted 29 January, 2013 Really? Get him to pm me. I don't want to rip anyone off, but think it's only a fair to make a bob or two. Tickets are £25 face value so £30 each? They are £20 plus Cortese tax.

Tickets are £25 face value so £30 each? Haha! After an email to the TO it appears you can register online (a link I had failed to spot). Upshot is my son is now registered and linked to me and we're off to Wigan for the princely sum of £28! Bargain! Even better is train fair is £6.50 return for the pair of us as well.
