Elias Posted 17 January, 2013 Posted 17 January, 2013 It seems strange that JWP hasn't had a go at U21 level really, at least in the squad. I'd imagine we'll be seeing Shaw in the U21 squad.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 17 January, 2013 Posted 17 January, 2013 Actually I am in some respects more surprised not to see Calum Chambers getting a sniff of 1st team action. The games I've seen him play in leave me very impressed indeed - he has a great eye for a killer pass.
Professor Posted 17 January, 2013 Posted 17 January, 2013 Why is Luke Shaw not in the squad? Maybe there are age limits that prevent his selection, otherwise as a regular first choice LB for a Prem side, surely he would be a strong candidate unless his selection is blocked by a qualification rule?

U21 call up I would assume.

Hodgson keeping him back for the senior friendly vs Brazil in a few weeks...
trousers Posted 5 February, 2013 Posted 5 February, 2013 @SouthamptonFC: Calum Chambers on as a 67th-minute substitute with England U19s 3-1 up against Denmark at the Keepmoat Stadium. #saintsfc
Lazlo78 Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 Nice assist from JWP for the first goal (I assume he's the No. 4):
Saint Garrett Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 Looks like he has carried that high tempo pressing to international level!
Lazlo78 Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 Looks like he has carried that high tempo pressing to international level! A bit much to conclude from a 5 second highlight, but I can't say I didn't think that myself
david in sweden Posted 6 February, 2013 Posted 6 February, 2013 England goalie made a mess of dropping the ball for the Danish goal.
Saint Garrett Posted 21 March, 2013 Posted 21 March, 2013 Chambers has opened the scoring tonight vs Turkey. JWP is captain.
Jimmy_D Posted 21 March, 2013 Posted 21 March, 2013 Chambers has opened the scoring tonight vs Turkey. JWP is captain. And it proved to be the winning goal http://www.thefa.com/England/mens-u19s/News/2013/turkey-report-210313.aspx
david in sweden Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 Calum Chambers seems to be quite versatile. Every time I read a report on him, he's playing in yet another role in the team. Even putting him at RB...... England U20's couldn't find a striker from " a big club " who was capable of scoring a goal. Why didn't they try the U18's Ryan Seager?...........18 goals this seson so far.
tajjuk Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 That Akpom lad from Arsenal looks a bit handy. Very highly rated probably the best young english forward in amongst the under age teams but might struggle at Arsenal to get game time.
rudi7s Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 Why didn't they try the U18's Ryan Seager?...........18 goals this seson so far. Every highlight I see of Seager he looks class, so calm in front of goal and not greedy either, often creating chances through good vision + sliding through passes.
Saint Garrett Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 Excited to see how Ryan Seager progresses. Would be great to bring a striker through our ranks, as goalscorers are so difficult to come across.
Saint_clark Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 Excited to see how Ryan Seager progresses. Would be great to bring a striker through our ranks, as goalscorers are so difficult to come across. All the reports seem to liken him to Lambert, which is definitely exciting.
Turkish Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 All the reports seem to liken him to Lambert, which is definitely exciting. Slow, lazy, fat and only scores from penalties?
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 All the reports seem to liken him to Lambert, which is definitely exciting. He's nothing like Lambert. Seager is shorter, quicker, and sits on the shoulder of the last defender shoulders looking to make little runs in behind. Seager is the sort of player who will get his chance in the first team on the wing before he does up front on his own. Sam Gallagher is more comprable to Lambert, but only through his size and height.
spyinthesky Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 Not directly Saints related but what ever happened to the Youth team lad from Nottm Forest who destroyed our youngsters in the FA Youth Cup last year and subsequently got a big money move to Chelsea?
Pugwash Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 Not directly Saints related but what ever happened to the Youth team lad from Nottm Forest who destroyed our youngsters in the FA Youth Cup last year and subsequently got a big money move to Chelsea?
