Jones91 Posted 17 January, 2013 Share Posted 17 January, 2013 So basically anyone in our first 11 should be an international (apart from the goalie)
Turkish Posted 17 January, 2013 Share Posted 17 January, 2013 Teddy Sheringham? To be fair he was 27, but only made 5 caps before he was 30 and didn't really break through until Euro 96. He went on to earn 45 England caps between the ages of 30 and 36. Went to the 2002 World Cup at the age of 35. So the nearest we can get is someone who was 3 years younger, already a proven premier league striker and went on to play for Man United in their best side in 40 odd years. I'd love to see Rickie play for England and if it was based just on form and being a hero to a generation of Saints fans then he'd get one, sadly it isn't. Forget comparisons the man is class and deserves a chance. Scored the most with lampard and Defoe. If he was Spanish we'd be ****in over him

mulletsaint Posted 12 May, 2014 Share Posted 12 May, 2014 Quite a few of these kind of kind of threads doing the rounds before our English players began to get some recognition. I'm sure there were a few Rickie for England posts/threads back in our Championship days, unfortunately I didn't have the time to trawl that far back. Good to see Ricky and Roy proved a few of us wrong.
