Chelsea v SAINTS: Match Thread

Hooiveld is having a shocker, pretty much everything Chelsea have created is going through his side of the pitch.

Colour me surprised.

What do people expect? He simply isn't a Premier League quality player, and especially against better sides will more than often get found out and exploited.

THIS! One thousand times.

We are ok but Jos is getting done every time...

We should have had another CB in on January 1st.

Hate to sound like Alpine but with another better CB we wouldn't be behind...

Yes, we have played quite well but the same things are killing us - no delivery, and certainly no quick delivery, in the final third. And ball-watching/marking space at the back.

Davis is nothing more than a plodding journeyman with the lethal combo of poor concentration and slow reactions.

Oh, what is funny. When some seem shocked that we are getting beat at Chelsea

DD I don't mind a hiding from a decent side. But this Chelsea is not Barcelona.

We've gifted them two goals. And they don't need the help!

Disappointing, because we're actually a match for them playing football, but we can't defend against decent sides and that's been an issue from game one...

Turning out every bit as hopeless as we expected, Probably will end up as bad as the FA Cup score, with accompanying dent to new-found though mis-placed post-Villa confidence.

Our CB solution is now 8 months overdue and counting.......

Evening!

So who do you think we should have bought that would have accepted our offer and immediately fitted into the side? Honest question.

I blame Leicestersaint for the second goal.

Guilty as charged. I actually think we're lucky it isn't more - they had 3 or 4 other good chances thanks to our panic stations at the back. I also blame our midfield for not providing more supprot and controling things - why can't we pour forwards like Chelski do?

Well what a surprise.. when will NA learn that we cannot put out a team to stop opposition from playing. We have to attack and to do that we have to play lambert.

Guly has been anonymous so w eahve no-one with the skill to put Rodriques through 1 on 1 which is the only way we will score with this shambolic set up.

The first goal was class from ba. The second was an unfortunate slip by yoshida otherwise it's cleared before ramires even shoots. Slightly negative team. Think j rod had to play after scoring fa cup and then Lambert or Ramirez behind but not all 3. Rickie more likely to impact as sub think Ramirez only shines when no top players are on the pitch.

Not shocked, just abit disappointed at our lack of invention and balls!!

we arent expected to get anything so why not go out there and give it a good go, QPR proved that it can be done and i think we are better than that collection of overpriced mercenaries.

Exactly. Why you complain about getting beaten away to one of the best teams in world football I have no idea. I would be pleased to only lose two nil.

Sadly the paucity of our squad means that any chance of doing a QPR and getting something from this game was an entirely unrealistic aspiration.

Having a £12M flair player who is too sh*te away from home to make the first XI is a sad indictment too.

Chelsea are not even trying. We are in top gear and they are in neutral

I hope they don't crank it up as we will see a route

He will bring Torres on and that will be a disaster as he will be gunning to impress and bang in a few.

If we are not going to try and compete against every team in the premier league and guild are best players then there is no point what so ever being in it.

Davis and gully are not fit to wear a saints shirt.

How any professional footballer can produce a corner like that is beyond me.

I wouldn't expect that from a Hampshire league player let alone a ****ing saints player.

lambert and Ramirez ???? God only knows.

Newcastle 10 million lambert in the coming weeks me thinks

We are not losing this game because of a centre back.

defense playing like they did against arsenal away, incredible how one jos hooiveld can change the dynamics of our defense so much. Ramirez and lambert on for Davis and jrod, need to convert our possession into chances. nth we can do about the defense except hope that forren guy signs soon

I hate the PL.. so boring and predictable... I hope we can stay up so we can strive for mid table obscurity next season.

Tonight I'd agree. In the Championship there were lots of difficult games, but you never went into a game fully expecting a defeat. Tonight it's just hopeless - sensibly we've set our stall out to defend and predictably Chelsea find a way to chalk up a few goals anyway. Stamford Bridge is silent as a grave as the football isn't very attractive from either side.

Bah. We take 45 minutes more, but this is just plain boring compared to e.g. the Villa game...

Too much is being read into this QPR game, they had a lot of lives in that game and used them up. Chelsea were tosh, and they just defended well and scored with their only shot. It can happen, it doesn't mean it'll happen again.
