Glasgow_Saint Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 1st bid rejected apparently - could return with higher bid Shaw injury may block this?
SuperSAINT Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 1st bid rejected apparently - could return with higher bid Shaw injury may block this? ...and the fact we don't have another left back?
Lazlo78 Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Off to ruin things for Dan Harding once again?
Colinjb Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 (edited) I would reject all bids. The only cover we have for a 17 year old. Also, what does it say about Dan Harding's role at the City Ground? Edited 16 January, 2013 by Colinjb
Pilchards Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Clyne, Yoshida & if he signs Forren are good enough cover for Shaw.
red&white56 Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 I would reject all bids. The only cover we have for a 17 year old. Also, what does it say about Dan Harding's role at the County Ground? Agree with this
Pilchards Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Got to remember he's not exactly a good cover because he's crap.
richardc Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 maybe Adkins knows something we don't and someone else is being lined up
Colinjb Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 maybe Adkins knows something we don't and someone else is being lined up Hence the bid being rejected.
Saint Garrett Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 We all knew Harding wasn't good enough for us in the NPC, so why would he be good enough for Forest if they're going for promotion? Ideally the more of our promotion side they have the better for them! Fox is a great player to have in the NPC just for his dead ball delivery, and his defending doesn't get caught out really. Would be a good signing for them, but I don't think we should let him go unless we bring in another LB.
Dig Dig Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 maybe Adkins knows something we don't and someone else is being lined up Is this a joke? Adkins doesn't know anything which is not known on this forum.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Not adverse to him moving on if the bid was right however leaves us in an interesting situation at left back. How do you buy a good left back with him knowing he'll be second choice to a 17 year old? Then if you can't convince someone to come in with the required experience / quality how would you feel for Shaw's backup to be unproven? Then if we got relegated and Shaw left... All ifs and buts however is a difficult situation to manage.
Ampersound Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Perhaps with Riise being told he's free to leave Fulham, would he be better back up to shaw than fox?
Saint Charlie Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 AL wouldnt be happy with his best mate leaving. Don't see the point unless Fox is replaced.
SuperMikey Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Perhaps with Riise being told he's free to leave Fulham, would he be better back up to shaw than fox? If he was willing to take a pay-cut he'd be fantastic back up for Luke.
alpine_saint Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Only if we have another LB lined up. Shaw is injured.
alpine_saint Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Shaw is fit for tonight. No dislocated shoulder then ? Great news.
pingwing Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Just get rid and we can work on it quickly over the next 2 weeks. Has proven him self to categorically be unable to play LB in the premier league, maybe left wing but Shaw coming off against villa blew that chance. Take a decent price (at least what we paid for him) and move on. Thank's for the 18 months (12 of good service).
Thedelldays Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 No dislocated shoulder then ? Great news. Don't think it ever was. Just Nasty cuts on his legs with stud marks
Bucks Saint Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 No dislocated shoulder then ? Great news. I thought you paid attention to the Villa game. Apparently not. Gashed knee / leg
Saint Garrett Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 No dislocated shoulder then ? Great news. It was his knee anyway.
Saint Scott Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 No dislocated shoulder then ? Great news. It was a gashed knee. He was out partying the same night too.
Matthew Le God Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Shaw injury may block this? Shaw is injured. He trained yesterday and will likely play tonight. All he had was a cut on his knee.
Matthew Le God Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Perhaps with Riise being told he's free to leave Fulham, would he be better back up to shaw than fox? He is on large wages and unlikely to want to play second fiddle to a 17 year old.
VectisSaint Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Perhaps with Riise being told he's free to leave Fulham, would he be better back up to shaw than fox? Think it might be better to get Ashley Cole as backup for Shaw as he is looking likely to leave Chelski.
beatlesaint Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Got to remember he's not exactly a good cover because he's crap. Nail on head
VectisSaint Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Off to ruin things for Dan Harding once again? Maybe its an exchange deal, we get rid of Fox and get Harding back (as backup to Shaw, Riise and Cole).
Jonnyboy Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Think it might be better to get Ashley Cole as backup for Shaw as he is looking likely to leave Chelski. You just reminded me, I had a dream last night where I met Ashley Cole on a bus and tried to persuade him to join Saints. He seemed to find the idea a bit of a joke unfortunately.
krissyboy31 Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 You just reminded me, I had a dream last night where I met Ashley Cole on a bus and tried to persuade him to join Saints. He seemed to find the idea a bit of a joke unfortunately. Yes but that was just a dream. In real life however.......
Clifford Nelson Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Have everybody forgotten about Ben Reeves? He was originally a left back who we re-schooled to CM. His progress is hampered there and he has once been subbed in as LB. Has always acquitted himself well, so why not be first back-up for Shaw?
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 I thought you paid attention to the Villa game. Apparently not. Gashed knee / legThis is Alpine Skate we are talking about, he only frequents the match threads if Saints are losing, and NEVER goes to home games. He's not a Saints supporter by any stretch of the imagination., he's just a grizzling fat tart.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Ben Reeves perhaps, but we have an extremely promising 17-yr old LB coming through the Academy ranks hot on Shaw's heels. Can't remember his name off-hand.
saint_ed Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Ben Reeves perhaps, but we have an extremely promising 17-yr old LB coming through the Academy ranks hot on Shaw's heels. Can't remember his name off-hand. Targett

Chez Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Warnock at Villa is available and linked with Fulham. I'm not a huge fan, but he had a spell at Villa when England cap was talked about.
Crazy Diamond Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 This is it lads - Fox out, we bring back Wayne Bridge. Ramirez back to Italy? Brian Howard/Stock!!! Lambert to West Ham? Lukas Jutkiewicz!!!
Chez Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Clyne, Yoshida & if he signs Forren are good enough cover for Shaw. are they? One decent half against Villa doesn't convince me that Clyne can do it. One woeful showing at West Ham convinced me Yoshida can't. Reeves might fit the bill, but could be sure.
Turkish Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 This is it lads - Fox out, we bring back Wayne Bridge. Ramirez back to Italy? Brian Howard/Stock!!! Lambert to West Ham? Lukas Jutkiewicz!!! James Beattie could still do a job for us IMO. And don't forget we need a wide player and Wade Elliot would surely be available and up for the move.
captainchris Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Got to remember he's not exactly a good cover because he's crap. Agree - don't care what the bid is take it! He's useless....
Appy Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 I would reject all bids. The only cover we have for a 17 year old. Also, what does it say about Dan Harding's role at the County Ground? Harding signed for Swindon?
Window Cleaner Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 This is it lads - Fox out, we bring back Wayne Bridge. Ramirez back to Italy? Brian Howard/Stock!!! Lambert to West Ham? Lukas Jutkiewicz!!! Good thinking, nowhere near enough Saints fans in the side. So bugger the playing ability, let's have some fans in.
Saint Scott Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Good thinking, nowhere near enough Saints fans in the side. So bugger the playing ability, let's have some fans in. Craig David could do a job as cover for Shaw. Get Lucy Pinder in the side and we're winning.
Saint Garrett Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Craig David could do a job as cover for Shaw. Get Lucy Pinder in the side and we're winning. I heard shes pretty special up the front....
Colinjb Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Harding signed for Swindon? Ahhhh, good spot.
Leicestersaint Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Fox did well last year but he is not PL standard - he was one of the main reasons we leaked so many goals early on this season. i would let him go.
Fan The Flames Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 How do you buy a good left back with him knowing he'll be second choice to a 17 year old? Then if you can't convince someone to come in with the required experience / quality how would you feel for Shaw's backup to be unproven? Then if we got relegated and Shaw left... All ifs and buts however is a difficult situation to manage. You get someone in who would be first choice and Shaw goes back to being cover and you bring him on more slowly.
Dazza82 Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 You get someone in who would be first choice and Shaw goes back to being cover and you bring him on more slowly. No he is ready now, Shaw is 1st choice we need cover for him
dubai_phil Posted 16 January, 2013 Posted 16 January, 2013 Shaw is rated amongst the top 10 hottest properties in world football. The 17 year old Taggert/Targett? is rated as being better than Shaw but less advanced in terms of gamebrain. Why bring in another player.... When we have Seabourne and Fox....... Clyne & Cork then

Clyne & Cork then Why bring in another player? Because he's 17. Are you also suggesting playing Cork at LB? And do you really think Seabourne is good enough to play LB in the premier? I don't think that would be a good idea.
