Vegard Forren - Signs

Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod

Take a look at this board today - the number of threads, the over emotive BS - its getting a bit pathetic frankly....

********, if you can't get emotional about football what's the point of supporting a team? We have always had a reputation for being a classy, friendly club that did things the right way. Today we look like we have joined the crazy circus of modern football and waved goodbye to the last traces of the "old Southampton". Adkins has done a fantastic job here, he was learning fast about life in the PL and gradually turning things around, and he has been treated shabbily. He, and we as fans, deserve better from the club. NC has proven once and for all today that he doesn't give a flying f**k what the fanbase thinks.

FFS what bunch of over emotive drama queens - did you lot all cry in public when Diana died - publically emoting in collective national grief?

Adkins was great, did great and did his job - we are proud of him for sure, but the reaction on here today is commical...

Welcome Vegard - hope you do well fo us lad.

Actually no, because I couldn't give a shiny sh01te if she was alive or not and it didn't affect my life in any way. This however, this impacts on what I do most weekends, and right now I am tangibly disillusioned with the whole charade.

I generally look out for your posts. A sensible guy with a balanced view and an understanding of the realities of life today.

Have to say you've lost it today. I suggest you don't review your posts from today tomorrow.

;-)

It's hard to have a balanced view today to be honest. Just feel we've gone about everything the wrong way.

To be honest, I think we knew this before today's announcement re NA.

Great news about the signing. Welcome to Southampton, Vegard, I hope you do as well as your Scandinavian predecessor, Michael Svensson of Sweden.

Whilst its very sad for Nigel Adkins that he should have gone just as you have come in, it does mean there's more chance of you getting a start in the team, which has not been the case with some of the club's previous signings, who have mostly been used to warm the bench.

"We always had a reputation for..." ********.

We always had a reputation for playing Association Football while wearing red and white stripes somewhere within the boundaries of the City of Southampton, is about all you can say...

Or, if you insist on taking a more romantic, melodramatic view of things: this kind of upset and drama - banishing the hero, forces of evil appearing to prevail, etc etc - you should be as happy as Larry today - because the dictates of narrative structure mean that something or someone will save the day (but not until the last minute.

Now... has anyone got Roy Race's phone number?

Not being melodramatic and not saying Cortese is evil - just a ruthless b*****d. And narrative structure is for works of fiction whereas this is real life, and I don't think MP will save the day so much as get us relegated to the Championship. Is it romantic and melodramatic to expect NA to be given the chance to at least finish one season in the PL. He was clearly showing signs that he and the team were getting to grips with the division, and I think he deserved a chance based on everything he has achieved at Saints to date.

First of all, it seems strange for somebody not following Soton that you need to change management when things are looking "better than it could be". Shame, if

you do a good job, future has to wait.

Having said that, I truly believe you should be happier than you seem about this signing. I do not support Southampton. Liverpool, in fact, but I am from Molde and

almost never misses a match they play.

Forren is not a big guy (compared to Hangeland), he is not too fast (compared to Welbeck), not too ugly (compared to Rooney), but he is a top class defender - style-wise

close to Agger (left footed, moderne style, calm with the ball, tough when needed - most of all, breaks the attack before it becomes dangerous).

Make up your own opinion.

Hangeland is rated Norway top defender (and captain of the national team), but I would not be surprised if his partner in CB national team has a better carreer.

Best.

Tor, you'll just have to excuse us, normally we would be bigging up a new signing but today? Well, suddenly losing a good manager has overshadowed the (long drawn-out) arrival of Mr Forren.

We're probably all looking forward to seeing him out on the pitch in a game or two and hope he lives up to your praise but unfortunately there's only one talking point today for most.
