Here's an interesting one for you. Spoke to someone at SFC last night and they said this isn't an NC, NA or LR signing and is actually a transfer commitee signing.

 

Apparantly they actually sat down and agreed on the type of player they wanted and ran through all the options provided by Paul Mitchell and the scouting team. NA had his input and then NC approached Molde's Chairman to begin talks.

 

Probably bull**** but thought I would post.

 

I thought that's how most of our signings came about?

So did I so was nice to hear that. Might help dispell this NC signing, NA signing myth.

 

Lets hope the lad doesn't find the art of defending Forren to him.

This. His game might have seriously regressed in the month he hasn't played to the point where he is a shadow of his former self.

 

It's not just that he hasnt played, but this is the Christmas period we're talking about, so he probably would have had some mince pies and booze.

If he's anything like me he'll have spent the festive season drinking red wine, smoking pot and playing computer games. Definitely not the sort of player we're after. Also, he really needs to stop masturbating so much.

This thread has gone downhill since it was unstuck. Nicola out FFS.

 

On the Liverpool trial front I suspect it was less about trialing him, more about selling the club to him. It is stated that he wants to be starting / close to a starting place and Liverpool are only really in the market for a squad player (Skrtl and Agger being their vowel depleted first choices). I suspect they wanted to get him over and try and sell it to him but, when the offer came in from Saints, there didn't seem much point - he'll be much closer to first team action at SMS.

 

If it was a straight choice between Liverpool and Saints, I suspect most players would chose Liverpool.

Today's update on Vegard (the d is not usually pronounced) Forren from my classes: My twenty 18 year old Oil well Technician students (supposedly the brightest) generally agreed that he is the best defender in Norway, but would not be good enough for the premier league.

 

The e in Molde is pronounced like the e in egg, by the way. Another not very interesting fact, did you know the owner of molde is also the same Norwegian who made a bit of a mess of Wimbledon some years back?

Well, after watching that youtube you have to say the jury is out on this guy. For a positive you could say he is reasonably comfortable on the ball. First touch looked average though, not much evidence either way on the important things. Can pick a pass if given time on the ball, but he won't get that time often. Used to a very different style of play. One's gut feeling is that it is a bit of a risk for 4 million and you can understand why liverpool only offered him a trial. Certainly going to need time to adjust to the premier league!

No, not so far. Biggest news of the day is that this was moved from being a sticky to not being a sticky and that chalet is stains puppet and does what he says.

It is starting to look that way, yes.

 

Edit - probably more Sibley and Cortese, no one knows if Turkish was 100% accurate. He has never knowingly been accurate about anything before so it is unlikely.

In principle this seems the right way to go, but imo if NA has doubts it should act like a veto. He has to train and work with the player.

Where is there any suggestion NA had any doubts. The post says NA had his input (he is part of the committee) and as a result NC entered into negotiations with Molde. Reading that would suggest that NA gave his blessing, not that he had doubts. But then I guess I am not a negative like you.

Considering how big a club we are now, do you think the management will start doing `Welcome to Madrid Ronaldo' style presentations to the fans at the stadium, with 40k turning up to see Forren juggle a ball for two minutes, followed by a quick stage managed interview and some fireworks to round things off? Imagine the revene from the car park.

I think he travels with the first team. Even if it was complete right now I would not be surprised to see it formally announced by the club tomorrow - just easier for everyone and if we were to lose tonight it would be a welcome shift in distraction.
