Reading the posts on the Villa game, I am impressed with the numbers at the game but sympathetic towards one or two comments from the more vocal supporters who are frustrated at the 'non participants'

For many years I enjoyed regular away days but, as you get past a certain age, other considerations come into play and my away attendance is much more limited now.

However when I do go, my legs won't take standing for the duration and I don't have the energy to shout and sing as was the case in my younger days.

I wonder therefore if away ticket distribution, particularly for the big games, could be organised so that those who wish to sing and stand could be separated from those who sit and stare.

I am a season ticket holder so choose to sit in the more 'sedate' part of St Marys.

However I enjoy a good atmosphere and if anything that can be done to maximise youthful enthusiasm then perhaps something could be considered.

Or would this be too difficult from an admin perspective?

I suppose this is the drawback with all seating.

Years ago, people my age could pay a premium for a stand seat, whereas the hard core support could congregate with their mates on the terraces and sing and shout to their hearts content.

You get what you are given for away games. Anything over and above this is probably beyond the capacbility of the TO. Ignore the moaners. It was a good atmosphere in the lower tier yesterday.

bring back terraces with safe standing , everyone would be happy then , I encourage you to write to your .mp requesting they support the motion bad write to the club asking them to back it. over 20 clubs have already come out in support of it , I think Villa may be one of them.

Villa have already said the part of the ground they'd use for the trial. They are very much up for it.

I support that. Football grounds badly needed improvement in the wake of Bradford and Hiilsborough but we seem to have thrown out the baby with the bath water in dispensing entirely with terraces. there seems to have been an agenda to gentrify football and it's never been quite the same since.

Imagine how confusing it would be for the ticket office where club X allocates us with 4 blocks, to be able to allocate tickets to our fans giving an option of which block they sit, with block 1 & 2 being the quiet blocks and 3 & 4 being the vocal supporting blocks. Why this kind of futuristic forward thinking idea would need some sort of mega super computer!

Surely it wouldn't be that difficult to organise, split the batches in two and then ask people which they prefer, a bit of extra admin maybe but the amount of favour it's win from everyone would be superb customer service. Guess the only problem would be the online sales as the system probably wouldn't cater for an extra field so would cost more to implement.

Simplest thing is to get the tickets, then ask someone to swap seats once you get there so you can sit down. I have seen this at a couple of away games recently.

thats why i enjoy going away. You can stand all through the match without any hassel.

 

BUT did anyone else notice how the Home fans at Villa Park , the ones directly to the right of us, were allowed to stand all match without ANY interferance from the stewards.

Shame we dont get that down StMarys eh?

Just don't sit in your allocated seat. Stand where you want and with who you want and that should help generate a bit more atmosphere if more like minded people are stood together.

 

I think I've only sat in my allocated seat once this season and I've done every away game.

Away games it's a lot easier to just go wherever you like. I hardly bother to look at my ticket and just head towards the back of the stand.

 

If we were to have 'safe standing' at SMS, where would it go? Top half of the Northam?

Guess it would be the whole of the "home" part of the Northam since demand would be huge.
