I dont think newcastle will go down at all....

I think this is wigans year...they cant keep selling their best players and stay up...Martinez has done a remarkable job

I still think reading will fight till the end...they have very favourable home fixtures in the 2nd half of the season

QPR...well, 4 points from chelsea away and spurs at home is definitely a corner turned

Villa...they are going down I think

shout towards norwich and fulham as they are slipping

sunderland wont go down either

West Ham must be big odds' date=' I'd have a punt on them if only Reading, QPR and Villa weren't so bloody awful. Really don't think QPR have turned a corner, battered by Spurs and battered by a half strength Chelsea outfit, very very fortunate to pick up 4 points. That luck won't last.[/quote']

There is often one club that drops like a stone the second half of the season, it happened to us in the seventies, sixth at Christmas then relegated. More recently newly promoted clubs like Hull and Blackpool. West Ham are not very good, teams get worked out at this level as the season progresses. But as you say are they worse than the current bottom three?

I have a conspiracy theory about QPR... Nearly all there points have come against London clubs.. I half wonder if there is some sort of "let's give them a hand so we can have more local derbies" thing going on.

Probably nothing in it but very strange

West Ham currently as likely to go down as Man United are.

This is bound to be true. All the London clubs will throw games against them as to keep them in the premier league. Chelsea certainly did this and Spurs played for a draw as neither of them need the points for their own champions league challenge as they'd rather play QPR twice a season.

There is most certainly nothing in that, would the Island dwellers give us something? We could of given them 6 points last year?

because west ham wont be going down...which was clearly his point

I know it is fashionable to think many teams above us are so rubbish..but west ham will not be going down

Once the rot sets in then it's hard to stop it, Norwich & Newcastle are having a wobble & so could West Ham.

So the answer is they have every chance of relegation.

Unfortunately, I think the bookies are right - we are one of five teams facing relegation. QPR do look to be playing for "Arry; Reading are going to dig in with favourable home games to come; Aston Vila are not going to roll over and Wigan have a track record of shrugging off relegation fears. Hope we are safe before the last two or so fixtures but it looks like a tight finish as May approaches. It's hard to imagine the Newcastles' and Sunderlands' being drawn in.

I have to say that I feel there is a chance, they were very poor on MOTD - Joe Cole not looking great either, and do they have much money to get in some more players? C, Cole is not doing to well is he.

West Ham have 26 points, if they were to be on a loosing run they will be in the fight. I just hope we can keep out of it!!!!

10 points is the difference between 16/15th and 8th, with WBA just above. This is a very close league!

If any of the sides just above us (West Ham, Norwich, Sunderland & Fulham) are likely going to be dragged into the relegation battle, it's Fulham. They started the season quite well, but have won Been shocking since late October.

Norwich only have 1 point from 5 games and on paper a side that isnt packed full of quality.

League Table after 22 games last season:

Bolton went down on 36 points.

Villa have amassed 30 points from their last 38 league games. QPR 31.

Wigan gained 28 points in their last 16 of last season. 37 points in their last 38 PL games.

No idea what it all tells us.

It tells us the teams on 26 points after that many games did not go down.

And that the bottom three teams came from the bottom four then.

The brains trust on this forum can talk about collapses and mega surges of form but the brutal truth is very little will change between now and May.

West Ham are as likely as Man United to go down. They aint going down.

If that was Saints in that position right now Les Wender and gang would be crowing about Champions League and 50,000 stadiums and sneering at anyone saying we were scrapping to stay up.

It also tells us that any team with more than 20 points didn't go down, so I take comfort from the fact we are as safe as Man Utd.

Stick to skulking around the training ground car park or whatever it is you do.

WHU aren't going down you absolute spanner.

It's very unlikely that West Ham will go down (maybe 3% or 4%?)

But your claim was their chance of relegation was the same as Man Utd's.

It isn't.

That's nuts.

If any of the teams in that table on points in the mid to high 20's had a 2nd half run like the one wigan had first half they would probably go down! True it is unlikely and the candidates are likely to be lower down but it is just as likely as Wigans escape and that happened!

It doesn't matter how you try and dress it up, it is still the most ludicrous thing that you have said on this forum in my memory. You might as well say that West Ham have an equal chance to Manchester United of being champions. That is equally as barmy. Sometimes you're just really barking.

If you think WHU are going down, good for you. Lets see who's right in May.

11th place. 26 points. Half the season gone. And suggesting they definitely won't go down is "ludicrous". You're a joke.

There's nearly always a "free-fall team" and there are several candidates this year, including ourselves.

Newcastle have lost Ba, and if they lose Coloccini as well they could be in deep sh*t. He's the one who holds their rather dodgy defence together. The Cabaye/Tiote propensity for red cards really hurts their midfield. I don't think they'll go down because they have a lot of home games against fellow strugglers, but it could be very close.

If Reading's win against WBA starts a good home run, they could do themselves a lot of good in home games against fellow strugglers.

Wigan have the fewest games against the Elite 4.

Our five home games against the Middle 8 (Everton, Liverpool, West Ham, Stoke and West Brom) look really, really important.

Would you be willing to bet your house on it?

If offered evens say, I'd be happy to bet my house on Manure not going down (assuming no Juventus type punishments for corruption).

But if offered evens on West Ham not going down, no way I'd risk wagering my house (even though I'd likely win).

So no, the odds of West Ham going down are not the same as Manure's.

I really do pity your lack of comprehension. I'd better clarify my position on this, so that the likes of you, CB Fry and Turkish can understand it once and for all; that is, if you are all capable of the feat, or if indeed you are at all receptive to trying to understand something really quite simple.

Regarding the possibility of us ever playing in the Champions League, mooted as an ambition by Messrs Cortese and Liebherr:-

My position is and has always been that although unlikely, it is not impossible.

Is that clear?

As an illustration as to other things that were once upon a time deemed to be impossible, I cited landing a man on the moon, or climbing Everest. Adkins, has used as an example the seeming impossibility many years ago of a man being capable of running a mile in under 4 minutes. No doubt if he posted on here, he would be ridiculed by the intellectual pygmies on here for that too.

Not a surprise that you don't know what I'm on about. You often find it difficult to understand what others are saying. I turned your stupid statement upside down and said that by your reasoning West Ham would have an equal chance to Manchester United of becoming champions.

Neither did I forecast that West Ham would be relegated. I just pointed out how ridiculaous it was saying that they had an equal chance of relegation to Man Utd.

This explains very well many of the factors that can or do come into play in a relegation struggle. It is very difficult indeed to predict who might go down at this stage of the season with any certainty. We as a club have confounded the statisticians on more than one occasion.

You do realise that seventeen teams don't get relegated and only one becomes champions?

And you do realise that seventeen is a much bigger number than one?

And you do realise I haven't used the phrase "equal chance" at any point on this thread? You can put it in bold as much as you like.

And you do realise you are a moron?
