Turkish Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Linked with a move for him tonight on SSN. Apparantly recommended by Ramirez and a Urugayan international. Never heard of him bit looks like a forward and has 13 caps for Uruguay. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/8393550/Sebastian-Fernandez-could-be-set-for-a-move-to-England-this-month
Saint Charlie Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 God, I hope not Is he bad? Ive not heard of him before.
Give it to Ron Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 God, I hope not Why not...are you happy with our bench today then...have you seen him play?
Thedelldays Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Because, watching Ramirez go missing again completely today. We need to add a few battlers with a touch of quality. Dare I say. British players who have played top flight. Even of it is for a 6 month loan We have firepower to score against anyone. But another exotic foreigner will need time to settle and not used to games like today..... Which there will be plenty more of Just my opinion.

ottery st mary Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 film video etc.......Come on boyz and girlz:D God would be a useful aquisition:rolleyes: ....but not seen Fernendez play....
Thedelldays Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Who would you like? Huddlestone Gallas For example... Even if on loan Maybe Danny graham
Saint Charlie Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Huddlestone Gallas For example... Even if on loan Maybe Danny graham But this Fernandez dude have you not seen him? Ive not heard of him but must be decent to get a look in for Uruguay and we were very light on attacking options from the bench today. Depends what type of forward he is really.

RonManager Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Huddlestone Gallas For example... Even if on loan Maybe Danny graham So it's really all about Xenophobia?
Thedelldays Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Joe Barton then...he meets your criteria Take away his odd attitude. He would be excellent for half a season
Give it to Ron Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Take away his odd attitude. He would be excellent for half a season So who would you drop Morgan or Cork? If Puncheon is injured who plays wide right ....you would rather we didn't sign a Uruguyan international who scored in Champions League?
CWD Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Take away his odd attitude. He would be excellent for half a season So basically, if he wasn't Joey Barton, he'd be excellent for half a season? The bloke is a tool and not someone we want in the squad. Not heard of this guy and the article doesn't say where he plays, so I really have nothing to contribute to the conversation.
ottery st mary Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 (edited) Just so you know.... Gallas is injured again....Legs have gone walk abouts.... Huddlestone is on way back from injury...not match fit and no guarantee will last full 45 mins.. Spurs will be unloading both as soon as possible.. plus Saints have better players at Centre Back.......Fonte , Yosh , Jos and Astori.... AND Midfield Morgan , Corky , JWP , Davis and Fernandez when he gets here:p Edited 12 January, 2013 by ottery st mary
Wade Garrett Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Take away his odd attitude. He would be excellent for half a season Vastly overrated player in my opinion.
Elias Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Not got a great record and he's about the same height as a decapitated Shaun Wright-Phillips.
Crab Lungs Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 The reason why we've won more games than the likes of QPR, Reading is because we've got players like Lallana, Ramirez etc. No need to fill your entire team up with Leigertwood's and Derry's... and especially not a Joey Barton.

But we have those players IMO. Reading this does not fill me with confidence that he could come and make an immediate impact. Which is what we need I may be wrong but odds are with a Uruguayan who is alright, playing overseas... Suggest he may need time to settle
Turkish Posted 12 January, 2013 Author Posted 12 January, 2013 Does anything think this signing would be a real statement of intent?

Suggest he may need time to settle I do agree, no point in bloating the squad out on players that wouldn't improve it. That's why I'd rather have one or two quality players over four or five so-so players. And ffs, hurry up Astori before Seaborne gets a look in
Give it to Ron Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Does anything think this signing would be a real statement of intent? Is Fergie interested yet?
The Kraken Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Does anything think this signing would be a real statement of intent? Is he young and hungry? I'd hope so, because if he is he'll be bound to improve and would therefore be a great signing.
Spudders Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Does anything think this signing would be a real statement of intent? We really need a YouTube complication to make this decision!
Winchester Red Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 (edited) Not pahars or ekelund or golac then - we don't want that sort of unknown. No exotic foreigners with no PL experience. Only average PL guys who can't get in other PL teams will be accepted A sure route to averageness and eventual failure Edited 12 January, 2013 by Winchester Red
Olallana Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Well looking at the bench today and we hade only 3 players out should be enough to convince people that we could need a few more players. If it is a loan first until the summer then it´s minimal risk to get him in here.
Turkish Posted 12 January, 2013 Author Posted 12 January, 2013 We really need a YouTube complication to make this decision! ask and you shall recieve my friend. Bit out of date this mind, he looks amazing though.
Olallana Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 ask and you shall recieve my friend. Bit out of date this mind, he looks amazing though. Funny that in the video it says he is born 1989, but on transfermarkt.co.uk it says 1985. And the video claims him to be 175cm tall, transfermarkt.co.uk says 168cm.... http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/sebastian-fernandez/profil/spieler_64545.html
Matthew Le God Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 ask and you shall recieve my friend. Bit out of date this mind, he looks amazing though. That is a different "Sebastian Fernandez" Turkish. The video is for a player that plays for Universitario de Deportes in Peru, not the one linked with Saints.

Bakovnetski Posted 14 January, 2013 Posted 14 January, 2013 A repeat of earlier news? http://sportsbyte.sunderland.ac.uk/?p=26947 Dont know why it's a Sunderland webpage.
tajjuk Posted 14 January, 2013 Posted 14 January, 2013 Hmmmn, sounds a bit of a Imants Bleidelis to me.
Thedelldays Posted 14 January, 2013 Posted 14 January, 2013 Davenport Camara Bernard Redknapp Quashie What's is your point? Are you saying gallas, etc are just as good as the list you gave? Really odd post. I like to think I posted good quality player I would like us to go for who are seemingly available! Not once did I suggest players at the standard or Bernard!!!

I like to think I posted good quality player I would like us to go for who are seemingly available! Not once did I suggest players at the standard or Bernard!!! Its the standard Spaz board response that when anyone says we want anyone with experience they automatically either list sh*t current premier league players or sh*t players we've signed in the past. You should know that now Jamie. tsk.

I like to think I posted good quality player I would like us to go for who are seemingly available! Not once did I suggest players at the standard or Bernard!!! Gallas would be good, Huddlestone isn't anything better than we have, in fact he's far less mobile than either Morgan or Cork. If we are going to add in that area we need someone with pace, power and aerial ability IMO. On a side note I saw Bernard the other day on SSN, think he's a spokeperson for 'Show Racism the Red Card'.

Look what happened when cork was out for a few weeks. He is a great deal better in that position than Davis or (currently) JWP
Quickfire Double Posted 14 January, 2013 Posted 14 January, 2013 Has anyone mentioned Kleber Chala yet?!

Look what happened when cork was out for a few weeks. He is a great deal better in that position than Davis or (currently) JWP Doubt he's much of an improvement on Davis IMO, and he's just not very defensively minded. He's a worse version of Carrick and is more in the playmaker mould than the defensive midfielder we need. He would also probably cost a lot and have high wages for a position that's not a priority.
trousers Posted 14 January, 2013 Posted 14 January, 2013 I think this is him: Blatant dive at 02:13 - he'll fit in nicely...
LeBenali Posted 14 January, 2013 Posted 14 January, 2013 Huddlestone Gallas For example... Even if on loan Maybe Danny graham Yeah, because Danny Graham will go from sitting on the bench at Swansea to sitting on the bench here....
Thedelldays Posted 14 January, 2013 Posted 14 January, 2013 Yeah, because Danny Graham will go from sitting on the bench at Swansea to sitting on the bench here.... Why would he sit on the bench here? Get in the team ahead of Rodriguez, for sure
Saint Charlie Posted 14 January, 2013 Posted 14 January, 2013 Why would he sit on the bench here? Get in the team ahead of Rodriguez, for sure Adkins picks the team, pretty sure Graham would be behind Lambert, JR and Gaston.
dubai_phil Posted 14 January, 2013 Posted 14 January, 2013 Damn you Turkish Uruguay were on telly in a bar in Phuket just before the Villa game. If only you had posted this earlier I could have given you a scouting report. All I can say is that a number of the Uruguay players looked awful Luckily none that I noticed had blonde (ish) hair
Thedelldays Posted 14 January, 2013 Posted 14 January, 2013 Adkins picks the team, pretty sure Graham would be behind Lambert, JR and Gaston. Yeah. But with lallana out, gaston on the left and his times out... Would be a great addition IMO
Saint Charlie Posted 14 January, 2013 Posted 14 January, 2013 Yeah. But with lallana out, gaston on the left and his times out... Would be a great addition IMO Not sure. I've never been overly impressed with Graham - has scored a few decent goals but Swansea don't seem overly keen to keep him and for the 5m fee they would want it wouldn't excite me at all.

I've never been overly impressed with Graham - has scored a few decent goals but Swansea don't seem overly keen to keep him and for the 5m fee they would want it wouldn't excite me at all. His only good season where he consistently got goals was the one with Watford which got him the move. Been hit and miss at Swansea, 15 goals in 52 games for them.
