Patrick Bateman Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 I think we've all had them. You're browsing a film in the video shop (in the 80s) or Blockbuster, or now online (Netflix, Lovefilm, Virgin Media etc.); there isn't much you fancy and you settle on something that sounds okay, not expecting much. I've just had one of those experiences with "Some guy who kills people". It was labelled as a horror with black humour, but it sounded intriguing and we gave it a go. Have to say, it wasn't a horror, but it was a very good film with a bit of black humour - really enjoyed it! Any other films like that? (Not well known, that you didn't expect much from, but were good)
trousers Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Had one of these 'random film' moments last night as it goes....In Time (Justin Timberlake). A film that will never trouble the Oscar nominations committee but was a decent watch.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Silver linings playbook..........thought it would be crap, but i liked it
tpbury Posted 13 January, 2013 Posted 13 January, 2013 Frequency (Denis McQuaid) is on tv here- remember picking this as a random years ago, don't recall seeing any pulicity about it at all. Anyway, I am watching it again, and yes, I seem to have got something in my eye!
Ewell Posted 13 January, 2013 Posted 13 January, 2013 Sideways, stumbled across it on TV and it is a brilliant comedy.

Essruu Posted 13 January, 2013 Posted 13 January, 2013 Sideways, stumbled across it on TV and it is a brilliant comedy. Aptly, I stumbled across this and watched this one evening after a vineyard & winery tour in the South of France. Great movie.
