Kingsland Red Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Here's hoping it's something trivial, as he has been awesome at left back since coming in.
S-Clarke Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Commentators said dislocated shoulder? Can be quite straight forward if they pop back in, however if it's torn ligaments etc then you could be looking at a month +.

Unless our medics told a pitch side reporter that is just conjecture surely ?
S-Clarke Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Unless our medics told a pitch side reporter that is just conjecture surely ? They were probably just assuming, based on what it looked like. Hopefully won't be too serious.
SNSUN Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 We'd be gutted to lose Lallana, then Fonte, then Shaw, all three of our better players this season. Cruel, especially as we're all aware the strength in depth isn't there. Fingers crossed it's a minor thing, and that the other two come back soon too.
Ken Tone Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Certainly looked like a shoulder injury. Might be dislocated or could be a collar bone? Could be serious or virtually nothing!

Polaroid Saint Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Fox can do the job at left back for a few games, but I hope he doesn't have to. I think Adkins is handling the two of them on the left side really well. The fact that Fox was already on the pitch at LM highlights, if it were needed, how badly we need a winger to add depth and options.
sfc4prem Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Ramirez also went off with a knock today. Yeah but he was poor today.
SNSUN Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Ramirez also went off with a knock today. Crud. Thank God the window is open. (I'm not saying sign ten new players but at least that's an option with regards to loans.)

If he is out for a while I would rather have Clyne at left back and bring Richardson in at right back. To me Richardson is the lesser of the two evils but I'm sure NA wont see it that way :-D
Saint Charlie Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 If he is out for a while I would rather have Clyne at left back and bring Richardson in at right back. To me Richardson is the lesser of the two evils but I'm sure NA wont see it that way :-D Richardson is nowhere near the quality needed and certainly not worth messing with Clyne to accommodate in the team. If Fox has to play the odd game it's no disaster. He isn't as good as Shaw but could slot in. The defence as a whole is better and calmer and more protected now.

To me Richardson is the lesser of the two evils but I'm sure NA wont see it that way :-D This. Wasn't this the change that was made at half time, 1-0 down to Villa when we came back and won 4-1 for our first points of the season?

Saint Garrett Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Hope he's ok. Was fantastic today. Our bench today highlighted our lack of depth though
Suomi Saint Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Looked like a knee injury to me, but I hope not. He will be hugely missed. If it's a lengthy one then we must switch Clyne to left back. Fox was invisible when he came on - he can't read the game at all.
kpturner Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Cut/bruises on the knee. Might not be serious with any luck.

Saint Charlie Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 on the stretcher with his arms crossed over his chest= shoulder or arm injury. Adkins: 'Knee injury' Clear enough?
Georgie Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Took a whack to the knee and has a couple of cuts/gashes. Hmm hopefully not serious
Saint Garrett Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 I originally thought knee. Hope it's not 'Adam/Fonte' bad
tisspahars Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Given that it was a head injury, definitely something to do with his shoulder, a cut knee and also an internal knee problem, the truth seems clear - was going to be subbed anyway and wasted five minutes coming off instead of 30 seconds. Wink wink.
SNSUN Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 If he is out for a while I would rather have Clyne at left back and bring Richardson in at right back. To me Richardson is the lesser of the two evils but I'm sure NA wont see it that way :-D The Frazer Richardson that couldn't even get a right back slot ahead of Jack Cork, who played out of position, yet was named on the bench? Perhaps Adkins doesn't see him as Premier League quality. Keep Clyne at his best position. Yes I don't rate Fox, but if it were for a couple of games, at least he'd come in trying to prove something to his manager. I still hope Shaw isn't out for long though.
Matthew Le God Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport So, Nigel Adkins says Luke Shaw's injury looks like tissue damage - cuts & gashes - good early sign for him #saintsfc That won't keep him out for long, if at all.

NA did say the knee had a bang and they would have to assess correctly. However, he did leave the ground without crutches which is obviously good. Possibly worth giving him a rest vs Chelsea anyway, don't want to burn him out.
miserableoldgit Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Ramirez also went off with a knock today. According to Adkins it was cramp.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 It can't be that bad as Shaw has just tweeted "great 3 points"
Saint Stimp Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Think the Villa fans who decided to boo a 17 year old going off on a stretcher need to have a word with themselves.
Saint Stimp Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Southampton FC @officialsaints Nigel on @Luke_shaw3's injury: "There are gashes on his leg. There's been a blow to his knee but we'd like to think it's nothing." #saintsfc
ottery st mary Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Think the Villa fans who decided to boo a 17 year old going off on a stretcher need to have a word with themselves. 100% CORRECT.....Ball should have been kicked out when they were on the half way line... Then to boo.......pathetic..
Saintandy666 Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 I would imagine given his age and such they are just being very very careful.
Turkish Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Gash on his knee from studs. Nothing too serious apparantly. But don't tell Chelsea as they won't be sure if they should prepare for him or not.
Legod Third Coming Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Studs down his knee. Swollen, no problem.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 List is growing Lallana Fonte Shaw Guly Ramirez
Greenridge Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 It can't be that bad as Shaw has just tweeted "great 3 points" It's not a finger injury then. Excellent news
Matthew Le God Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 List is growing Lallana Fonte Shaw Guly Ramirez Ramirez came off with cramp. Not exactly serious.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Ramirez came off with cramp. Not exactly serious. Good. 1 down 4 to go
beatlesaint Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 List is growing Lallana Fonte Shaw Guly Ramirez wind up merchant
Dig Dig Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Gash on his knee from studs. Nothing too serious apparantly. But don't tell Chelsea as they won't be sure if they should prepare for him or not. Benitez won't know what to do. Our silence will play havoc to his prep of the game.
Under Weststand Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Certainly sounding like its not to serious, that will be a relief, after the run of injuries we've had lately.
Turkish Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Benitez won't know what to do. Our silence will play havoc to his prep of the game. Especially after the deliberately leaked pictures of Lallana back in training. Clever tactic from Adkins to get Ramirez to come off with an 'injury' obviously to confuse them further. Bentiez head must be all over the place.
sammysaint Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Looks like he will miss Chelsea but be back for Everton which is the more realistic game were win or get something from since were at home and seem to have more players back, as i heard Lallana is back for that game.
Horton Heath Saint Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Cottee on Sky Sports was a disgrace today, saying 'not that injured, probably be up and running in the next minute.' He never mentioned Luke being carried off after that. ****.

Stop it, you'll get everyone's hopes up we can get something out of the game!
Roger Posted 12 January, 2013 Posted 12 January, 2013 Mate spoke to him after. Should be back for weds.
david in sweden Posted 13 January, 2013 Posted 13 January, 2013 looking at the incident again, both players were going at pace and chasing the ball, Shaw tumbled and fell hitting hitting his head, shoulder ...and then he clutches his knee.... Glad if it's not serious, but he must have had a few pains all over at the time.....safety first to come off on a strether.. and the ref. did add on more time, too.
Barry Sanchez Posted 13 January, 2013 Posted 13 January, 2013 Is it just me or has no one mentioned Boruc's throw was a hospital pass/throw that put Shaw in a lose lose situation? If he stayed where he was Weimann could of gone around him so he had to go into a needless 50/50 and through poor luck got a belt.
