Sour Mash Posted 13 January, 2013 Share Posted 13 January, 2013 Was a good turnout numbers wise, but it was quiet over where I was (furthest right, lower tier). Didn't think we were that loud at all - see Fulham away 2nd half for what was outstanding support.
Sour Mash Posted 13 January, 2013 Share Posted 13 January, 2013 He was mocking TCWTB so was going for the complete gimp look. As for OP, our support was OK, good numbers but for 3,000 probably not as "fantastic" as maybe it should have been. Good at times but having lost a number of chants from the promotion years now very limited. "Yellows, Yellows" and "OWTS" every 5 minutes is a bit lame and tbh, boring. And now we only seem to get the lazy slow rendition, OK when we're cruising but not particularly inspiring support for the players out on the pitch when we're still in a contest. Small rant but takes nothing away from a top result. Things are on the up. What a found odd was after the final whistle, once the home end was nearly empty and players going off the pitch, we suddenly livened up and made an absolute racket. Griffo Posted 13 January, 2013 Share Posted 13 January, 2013 You post this every week! Why do you go to games? What do you think's going to happen if you buy one tkt at random and go on your own? Where do you sit at home games that's so much better? I wasn't there today but our support came over really good on the stream I watched; reaction on here fro those that were there is overwhelmingly positive. I really would advise you find something better to do with your time and money if you really don't enjoy it. I don't go to games on my own. I stand in the Itchen North where the atmosphere is sh*t unless we're winning. All we seem to want to sing is 'Yellows' and OWTS. Round and round and round. We were silent for most of the second half really. At Fulham we managed to spur the team on and our support was good there. Yesterday most of the people in the bottom tier were just standing there with their arms folded pretty much.

The split upper/lower didn't help but the upper at the back were quite noisy but us at the front upper less so, perhaps due to the enforced sitting? The lower certainly sounded in good voice. Isn't that usually the case when a team's hanging on i.e. people are too nervous to sustain any kind of noise which then followed by the outpouring of relief at final whistle? By contrast, the best atmospheres are usually when we're on the front foot and pushing for a goal e.g. Fulham on Boxing Day. Have never known it any different. saints-cris Posted 13 January, 2013 Share Posted 13 January, 2013 Thought it was very loud in the top tier at the end when we were hanging on.

Not really as it was pretty much the same for the whole 90mins. Look at Leeds away last season how much effort our support put into getting behind the side when we were seriously hanging onto a lead in a 'nervous' situation. ericb Posted 13 January, 2013 Share Posted 13 January, 2013 Only watched a stream but the support sounded very loud through out. Guess it just shows how you can't tell when you're in the middle of it
red&white56 Posted 13 January, 2013 Share Posted 13 January, 2013 We were in the bottom tier and we were singing and so were most folks around us. Our support was fine. Villa fans we spoke to were friendly as well.
