Wasn't it Dickson who went on loan and played at Wemberleeeeee last season? He only plays at wemberleee

Lee Holmes at Swindon. Deprived by Coventry (oh F**KING YES!!! Great game!!) whilst playing for Preston tonight.

Good luck to Dickson.

Football is indeed very unfair.

An absolute mercenary who was lucky to be dragged into a PL pay-check, spends half a season doing absolutely nothing but running around for 2 hours a day, and walks into a team on the verge of history (let's hope they can achieve so).

Hope he's going there as a sub player and never makes the list for any of their remaining LC fixtures (probably what they have in mind, given they're going for a lot of things squad rotation becomes key for a L2 team currently just surviving above its weight).

'Absolute mercenary', are you sure. Are you in the habit of volunteering to take a pay cut, I'm not. Does that make me a mercenary as well?

He would have left ages ago if we were willing to do a deal on his contract. Not his fault.

Think he wanted to play elsewhere but other clubs couldnt afford his wages, so we were asked to either buy out his remaining contract to let him leave or subsidise his wages at another club but we refused, it was put down as a "Business decission"

I suspect the pay rises he got when we got promoted twice over put him in that situation. If he was on £3000 a week when he signed he's probably on nearly £4500 now, thats nearly an extra £80k a year.

For someone who potentially will be out of work at 35 & who will never earn that kind of money again you can hardly blame him. We all have financial commitments to meet. Just because he's a footballer & on good money doesnt make his commitments any less pressing than ours.

If he was on 10-15k a week it would be different, but I highly doubt that!

Well I dunno about your financial situation, but unless he is on a serious tart, cocaine, and camouflage painted Bentley habit, then I think it safe to say his financial problems are probably quite a bit less pressing than the average forum member's are.

I agree. He wasn't first choice when we signed him .....in L1 days (when he was one of the best in that league) and after having Harding / Fox at LB last season, he dropped further down the pecking order.

I really hope he can kick start his career. For any athlete who has talent and wants to compete it's frustrating when you're not in action regularly......the money is one thing but, not very satisfying to have to sit on the bench... .or even get on the bench and then not play.

This (hopefully) will be a fresh start and good luck to him. Certainly not as glamorous as SMS, but he'll enjoy playing regular games I'm sure.....

How is he a mercenary, when his twitter pre-season suggested he wanted to go on loan but the club wouldn't let him ?

Also, football wages are absolutely the fairest thing about the sport, which is a meritocracy - generally overall people find a level which reflects their usefulness to the club and the team's results also usually reflect the cost and abilities of the players they are paying. You get anomalies but they even out over time (eg Anthony Pulis) and due to the massive number of alternative options for every position on the pitch / in the squad, worldwide player wages can be almost a pure market.

Michael Chopra, who has spent all of his career until last season employed by a club above Dickson's, seems to have managed to spend all his money purely on gambling, so...

what was the score?

1-0 to Saints, the McCalliog chip over the wall with the Ossie have some of that header behind it. Nope other way round

 Error  : Ossie flips it up almost vertically. McCalliog half volleys it over the wall and into the net.

Never understood why many fans didn't take to him. Another case of a `Mistake on TV make fans mind up' I guess. Bradford have got one hell of a signing there IMO. He's no premiership player but once he gets match fit he'll be far too good for that league. Watch Bradford's league form improve in a couple of weeks time.

I am with you Chez...Dickson is the one full back we had that would actually try and get to the byeline and deliver a cross unlike some of the others that belt it from just in their half.

Bradford have a very good player.

An excellent pick up for a League 2 Club - I'm convinced it was his defensive blunder in the FA Cup match v Man U which cost him his career at Saints in Nigel's eyes and many fans as a result. He is not a Prem standard LB but would be well at home in most Championship sides and at the risk of opening old wounds, Dickson appeals to me as a superior LB to Dan Harding and may still get the chance to prove his worth at Championship level.
