from Sparsholt College Football Academy. Nehemie was released by Palace last summer but following his enrolment at Sparsholt he caught the eye of Saints and has signed a full-time scholarship arrangement up to 2014. He is a left-sided player.

He sounds young, hungry, and is bound to improve.

He has a young skeletal body though, we need to nuture him at the club, with the excellent medical and coaching staff, plus the recruitment department lead by Paul Mitchell.

All overseen by Les Reed who once wrote the FA coaching manual dontcha know. If there is anyone who can nuture him and enable this young, hungry player who is guarenteed to improve, its him.

Agree. Reed seems to have had the impact Cortese wanted which is good. With Hunter as well we do have a well respected coaching setup, plus some ex Saints in Dodd and Williams which is good to see.

There is a photo in the Echo of him signing which includes Neil Benson who is the manager of Sparsholt Football Academy. Says Neil was once in Saints academy. Apparently Isaac has already trained with the club and been a guest at a couple of games.

Pretty sure he has also played some U18 games already - I have seen him name in the reports.

Neil Benson is a ****ing pratt.

You don't like him? His name is familiar but can't think why - certainly don't remember him being on Saints books?

Ive done a few courses with him.

He was involved with Saints during the Clifford/Prost era's.

Coaching wise you think 'wow thats fantastic' then he'll rumble a load of ******** after.

He has indeed - Matt Targett getting a run of games for the u21's gave Nehemie a chance to start several U18 games. I saw him first hand in Manchester at the Trafford Training Centre and he didn't look out of place. Has a long way to go but with Shaw now a staple of the first team and Targett taking his opportunity for the u21's this is a good opportunity for Nehemie.

Absolutely hilarious that you'd dismiss a 17 year old using that logic. You've shown yourself up a treat.

Exactly. Think about Stuart Pearce and Ian Wright to name just two.

This is the type of post I like. Straightforward, clear, no room for misunderstanding. We should have more like this.

Let's give him a chance, bloody hell plenty of people turn into world beaters after initial rejection

I'd still like to know Palace's reasons though - temperament maybe?

This sort of thing happens all the time. One academy sees something in a player another doesn't. Beckham couldn't get beyond Spurs' centre of excellence but Man U snapped him up.

Know the scout who spotted him and recommended him to the club. He was released by Palace as they have an England School boy in same position and didn't want to block his path. He will slot in to the position left by Luke Shaw stepping up to first team squad.

Unlikely, as there's already someone else in that position.

The 17 yr old, 2 months younger than Shaw is seen as the long term successor of Shaw

Lol

That's just crazy - rather goes against the idea of having a successor when he is only two months younger. When Shaw retires at age 37, the 36-but-37-in-two-months Targett will finally get his time in the sun after waiting patiently for 20 years :D

Hmm... something about cultivated play... something about being a workhorse... something about agricultural challenges... any more?

Will he end up with the tractor boys?

This was my thoughts, but then a season takes a lot out of professionals these days, bless 'em

Fwiw Targett is said to be as good as Shaw at least.

On another note, can we have some variety ? Right back ? Striker ? Bloody goalie ?!?!?

Yep. We have to start sourcing other positions to get to to the 50% academy to first team mark!
