View From The Top Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Too far north for many I reckon but a new ground for those of us concerned about such things. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/ticket-news-for-wigan-trip-588735.aspx
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Think we'll sell loads, no one has ever been there. Looking forward to it.
pap Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Just down the road from me. Will probs go, if only to see the completed stadium. Passed my driving test in Wigan and remember the roof struts being moved through the town. Stay somewhere else tho'
JRM Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 very very much looking forward to this one , will be my 78th ground out of the 92, top price as well , just shows it pick away games wisely the premier league is actually cheaper than the championship , £25 at Arsenal , £15 at west brom and I think it will be £20 at Newcastle as well. no rush to get tickets for this as we can have over 5000 , my guess is we won't take more than 2000 with man utd just a few days earlier . massive relegation 6 pointer.

Dan Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Every saints (ground hopper) geek I know is going to this one! With cheap tickets and its importance I can see us taking about 3000+ up there. Looking forward to this far more than United.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 I am dragging my weary bones up there to chalk another ground off
Nexstar Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Can't see me making this one, train is about £60 from Kent.
Dan Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Can't see me making this one, train is about £60 from Kent. Try looking at trains to Manchester and then paying for Manc to Wigan on the day.
Nexstar Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Try looking at trains to Manchester and then paying for Manc to Wigan on the day. Oohh £33.70, cheers! Now to contemplate the 12-hour round trip...

ladysaint Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Been looking forward to this fixture for years. Quite a few of us staying up for the weekend which has been booked for a few months now.
LGTL Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Had we ever met them in any competition before the game earlier this season?
ladysaint Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Think we have met them in the cup but that was at the Dell, don't think we have played them competitively away.
View From The Top Posted 9 January, 2013 Author Posted 9 January, 2013 I don't think I'm alone, for geek ground ticking off reasons, in having looked forward to this since promotion!

Dr Who? Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 I don't think I'm alone, for geek ground ticking off reasons, in having looked forward to this since promotion! Yep,it is the only reason I am going!

Barry Sanchez Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 I will probably go great day out on the ale.
Saint Keith Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 i'll be driving up and back from around gatwick if anyone wants a lift
John Boy Saint Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 I was looking forward to this then when the dates came out its one of 3 weekends I have to work this year. Booooooooooo!
pingwing Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Wow! First game in a while travel is more expensive than the ticket for the game! £26 return from MK plus a few quid getting there from here and a £20 game ticket is just amazing.
Badger Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Had we ever met them in any competition before the game earlier this season? FA Cup tie at The Dell in about 1985 I think. Won 3-0. Not sure of any previous cup games at Wigan though.
richie Posted 9 January, 2013 Posted 9 January, 2013 Going to this with the boy. Massive road trip. Very cheap prices but expected.......... that said Norwich will be charging us approx £42 for an adult when we go there in March!! Kid you not. They are charging Newcastle £45 and Spurs £50!! Was going to go but not at that price!!!

Pinwing I am going from MK - where did you see £26 return? (train?)
Saint Garrett Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 This one is doable I think. Weekend in Liverpool potentially as well. What is it about half hr train from Liverpool?! Don't think anyone needs to worry about this one selling out, can take loads there if demand is there!

ant Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 Great opportunity to turn this into a pseudo-home fixture.
pingwing Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 Pinwing I am going from MK - where did you see £26 return? (train?) The train line are doing deals on the virgin train routs that way, we change at Crew on the way out and get the direct line back, though I have realised the £26 reflects the student rail card price (1/3rd off). It's £40 without it.
rick1976.4.38 Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 good prices,we should take as many as we can but as north of london we wil lhave to see. mind you,our support has been good away this season
saint_bert Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 4 of us going and looking forward to it. We're going to the United game and staying up that way till the Wigan game. Massive game!
ericofarabia Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 I'm in. 30 minute bus journey from Leigh, 20 quid entry and all the pies you can eat and cheaper than south beer prices. Proper football day out!! Wonder if the squad will stay up north after the Man U game. If so I might have to do a bit of stalking whilst I'm back in UK based in Leigh. LOL
SFC Chris Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 Coming down from Glasgow for this one and taking my brother along for his first Saints experience. Really looking forward to it.
stcappy Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 A fixture I looked for as like others have said its a new ground. Sadly though my first miss of the season - mates wedding is same day. Have already warned them that I will be using the hotels wifi to find a stream for it during the reception!
This Charming Man Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 Not doing Chelsea or Man Utd due to ridiculous ticket prices but won't be missing this one. You just can't beat a cold away day in some grim Northern town. Plus it's a new ground!
shurlock Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 Another soulless stadium on a retail/industrial park - hardly living the dream or a badge of authenticity.
Barry Sanchez Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 Another soulless stadium on a retail/industrial park - hardly living the dream or a badge of authenticity. Good fans, good little town, friendly fans looking forward to it, I think me and the wife are going.
This Charming Man Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 I wonder if this could be the first time ever we take 3,000 past the Midlands?
Lets B Avenue Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 I wonder if this could be the first time ever we take 3,000 past the Midlands? Sheffield Wed. F.A Cup 1984. We had about 10k up there.
Saint Malc Posted 10 January, 2013 Posted 10 January, 2013 very very much looking forward to this one , will be my 78th ground out of the 92, top price as well , just shows it pick away games wisely the premier league is actually cheaper than the championship , £25 at Arsenal , £15 at west brom and I think it will be £20 at Newcastle as well. That is an amazing coincidence JRM as it will be my 79th (all involving Saints). However, I think that I may loose a couple at the end of the season with some of the clubs at the bottom of League 2 in trouble. I do want Luton to get promoted though in order to replace one of the grounds I am going to lose.
