Saint Charlie Posted 9 January, 2013 Share Posted 9 January, 2013 http://www.gianlucadimarzio.com/calciomercato/bologna-rifiutata-unofferta-del-southampton-per-sorensen/ Basically says we made a bid which they turned down. Perhaps we will go back? I don't know much about the player but respect to Dig Dig who started the thread saying we are targetting Italy and hinted at a move for a Scandanavian defender via PM. Saint Charlie Posted 9 January, 2013 Author Share Posted 9 January, 2013 Fine to mock so long as there's consistency and you believe similar about Newcastle and the French market. I'd assume it makes sense for clubs to utilize any markets they have an advantage in. Exactly. Plus the "Office boy" thing is bizarre. Surely thats what most Chairman are? Saint Charlie Posted 9 January, 2013 Author Share Posted 9 January, 2013 Possibly players the managers wants not what the executive chairman wants? No small coincidence that all the players are from Italy, why not Spain, Germany? But its not like we always sign Italians. In fact we havent signed any yet. Does it matter where the player is from? No. All that matters is how good they are. So far the we have signed a Senegalise, Brazilian and Uruguyan and are linked with an Italian, Brazilian and Danish player. No bias there for me. We clearly feel that Italy has some good deals due to the economic situation and NC's ability to negotiate there because of language, knowledge etc so should keep going. In any case, this is about the player - the policy is being discussed here: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?42214-Raiding-Italy

Saint Charlie Posted 9 January, 2013 Author Share Posted 9 January, 2013 Was Guly a good deal? How much Ramirez? £12 Million and add on to £15? Has he been worth that so far? Carry on. Guly has been a good signing, was cheap and has offered more over 3 seasons than say Chaplow has. Scored some vital goals for us and generally done a decent job. Ramirez is a class act. Not sure what your point is? You suggested we had a bias towards Italy, but we have only brought in 3 players from there, and none of them are Italian. Why does it matter, you get players from where you feel the best deals are. We can get first team players from Serie A there, a fringe italy Intl - we couldn't do the same in England. Barry Sanchez Posted 9 January, 2013 Share Posted 9 January, 2013 So because our chairman is Italian we decide to buy Italian? Sorry but are we for real on here? Is that what I am reading? Its laughable and naive to think we good knock a couple of Euro's off as old Nicky boy speaks the lingo, is this the reason we are spending Millions or possibly in Italy? We save £200 on a Spanish translator which is great as we shall send our Italian accountant to Italy to buy millions of £'s of players as he is sweet with the language......... Saint Garrett Posted 9 January, 2013 Share Posted 9 January, 2013 Was Guly a good deal? How much Ramirez? £12 Million and add on to £15? Has he been worth that so far? Carry on. Was Guly a good deal? Absolutely YES! We signed him in LEAGUE ONE...something that you skates can only dream of signing. After playing a huge part in our two promotions, he's now playing for us in the Prem and we paid what, 500k for him? Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Gaston? Clearly our best player and most talented, costing us £11.8m from what I read, and won't lose much of that value. Scored 3 goals despite being injured and then having his personal problems. Will be key to whether we stay up or not IMO. This defender is an interesting one, does it mean that Astori has fallen through? Or are we just checking out potentials? pingwing Posted 9 January, 2013 Share Posted 9 January, 2013 Cool! A bid for a 20 year old Danish CB! Co-ownership isn't too much of a problem, just have to make a bid to the dominant club (Juventus I think) and then the other club has to accept an equal bid for the other 50% of his contract. Nothing like the mess from Gaston which we did eventually sort out anyway. Interesting bid either way. Was Guly a good deal? How much Ramirez? £12 Million and add on to £15? Has he been worth that so far? Guly was a good deal... He's been an important part of the team since he turned up... Class above L1 and arguably better than the champ! He has learnt a lot with us, especially how to play many different positions. Can't really see what he has done that is bad. Gaston may not quite look a £12m player, but then again very few who get that sort of fee do straight away. Considering he is in his early 20's there is a lot to come from him... Verbal Kint Posted 9 January, 2013 Share Posted 9 January, 2013 Possibly players the managers wants not what the executive chairman wants? No small coincidence that all the players are from Italy, why not Spain, Germany? Because player salaries are not very big in Italy these days and it is therefore possible for a club like us to attract quality players from there. Players who if they were playing in Spain and Germany and earning significantly more we would be unable to attract here.
