Every game is different, as we've seen from Chelsea recently, but you can't polish a turd at the end of the day. - and that's what this Villa team is.

 

That villa team is full of complete and utter dross, not good enough for top level football. Players like Nathan Baker, Joe Bennett, Delph, Lowton, Bannan are championship at absolute best. It's painful trying to watch them play in the PL as a neutral, so what the Villa fans must feel is beyond me!

 

Defensively they are a shambles, it's not just a 1 off either. ''Oh we'll work on this in the training ground'' will be trotted out, I'm sure, but you can't make these players good in a week. Some of them will never make it.

 

This Villa team reminds me so much of our team under Port and Wotte, Young players given an opportunity when it's painfully obvious that the vast majority of them will not cut it and shouldn't be playing at that level.

 

How they won at Liverpool is beyond me, although being honest Liverpool should have been 4-0 up after their first half - so they used up a hell of a lot of luck there.

 

To put it simply, they are unadulterated trash.

I think we will win, personally

 

We should win if we play as we can play. We showed against them at St Mary's that when we turned it on against them, they had no answer.

 

However if we play crap, like we're capable of, it gives them an opportunity. But i seriously believe that if we play anywhere near our best, this will be a lot easier than many anticipate.

Such a massive game on Saturday. From Villa's point of view, after an awful run it's a chance to regain some confidence in a team that looks doomed. And for us, a chance to really crack on and distance ourselves at least a little from some of the crap down there. The last time we went away to a truly poor side on an awful run we put 3 past QPR. But this is later in the season and bigger. Much bigger. Excited about it already. Having seen that tonight, with respect to Bradford, that Villa team look clueless. If I was Lambert I'd be tempted to play as old a starting line up as poss against us, the kids look done for this season.

I fully expect a backlash from Villa on Saturday similar (although not the same) as Chelesea after their result v QPR. Hopefully we can still scrape a win, but it won't be easy.

 

Never underestimate the opposition.

 

I think there attack is dangerous, and will cause us problems, but our attack should be all over that defense. It's hopeless. No underestimating there.

do Liverpool have to readjust where they are as they lost at home to them? I think we'll win as well but if we have twenty shots to their one and lose 1 nil it doesn't mean we're relegated.

We just need to get right in their faces from the off, we did that v Newcastle and they looked super wobbly, Villa look like they could be ultra wobbly if we get into them and get a few in the back of the net early on.

Bradford looked very well organised, must be an ex Southampton thing.

Yeah, we need to start well. Put them under pressure from the off.

 

They will be nervous, and edgy after this result. The last thing they want us the fans turning on them, which they will do if we start quickly. If we have a strong start, it will probably be similar to QPR away.

Yes, I think Liverpool do need to readjust where they are. Liverpool have a midtable squad. We have a slightly better than bottom of the prem squad. The 2 squads that are arguably worse than ours are surely Reading and Villa. Their experienced players have all had their day and their kids are not good enough yet. These are the squads that get relegated. I would be massively disappointed if we lost to them at the moment and I think it would be a bit of a reality check. I personally think we have a better squad and manager than Villa. I would swap absolutely nothing at Villa Park for what we have at SMS. All very unbiased of course!

They are an awful side. Their defending is pathetic. We really must win up their. Benteke and Bent are the only players who would get in our side. Otherwise they are at championship level. Christ imagine this forum if we'd just lost 3-1 to a league two team.

Hate it when our expectations are sky high, usually the opposite happens. Really concerned about our defence with JF's injury, NA will probably move Cork to CB rather than bring in Jos.

Good result for us before the weekend, but its still going to be very tough with AL and JF out injured. Villa know how crucial the game is and if we think we are in for anything but a very challenging afternoon we are kidding ourselves.

So, IF Bradford hold on in the 2nd Leg and play Chelsea in the final at Wembley...

And Chelsea finish in the Top 4 & Qualify for the CL.....

 

Does that mean....

 

Bradford will all be going on a European Tour?

there is some absolute rubbish on this thread , writing off Villa as an "awful team" who we should beat comfortably if we "play as we can". do people need reminding that Villa are currently above us in the league and the team you are laughing at have got further in the league and FA Cup than we have. They are clearly inconsistent and their bad days are very bad , but they have had excellent results away at Liverpool and Norwich and drew with Arsenal just like we did. Villa have an attacking threat with pace that will target our weaknesses of a shaky defence without fonte and whichever dodgy keeper we decide to play. I really hope our game v them will be like QPR but equally will not be surprised by a defeat. if villa confidence is down from last night's defeat what will ours be like after a 5-1 home thrashing ?

Careful mate talking sense on this forum can cost you a s hit load of abuse! I think that Villa aare there for the taking and we should go all out to get in their faces and don't let them breathe. This has Stokeish scoreline on it as we are both prone to letting in the goals. May the points come back to St Mary's

What's all this readjusting of where you are bo*locks? We know where we are don't we? In a relegation battle with a squad full of decent young players that lack experience and depth and in need of a centre half, wide player and a goalkeeper. Same goes for Villa who as has already been pointed out and are above us in the league, so despite all the claims as to how terrible they are they are actually doing better than us and still only 90 minutes away from a cup final.

 

As for Liverpool even scousers now accept that they are rebuilding. After twenty years of claims every summer that this is their year. They have a very good young manager building a good young side and in Reina, Skertel, Gerrard and Surez have players who would get into most teams. Rodgers is buying quality youth but he's also got an experienced spine to blend it with.

 

They only people who need to "readjust where they" are are people on this forum who seem to think we are so much better and should easily smash out of sight a team who are above us in the league, especially considering we've only one once away all season.

Perhaps Villa think we are ripe for the taking after our defeat to Chelsea as we have only beaten QPR away and will probably be without key players.

 

I think we should be confident but not overly so a draw would be a reasonable result

There's 3 points definitely up for grabs here and looking at the upcoming fixtures (gulp) what a big 3 points it would be.

 

Their last 6 games (all competitions) are W 1, D1, L4 ; goals for 5, goals against 21 so their confidence should be nicely shattered.

 

However whilst Villa are still my pick for relegation some of the comments on here show real hubris, sure they blow cold but they can also blow hot as their victory against Liverpool and their draw at Swansea show.

 

Produce a QPR performance and we can win, do a Sunderland and it would be a draw at the very best.

 

Just hope our own recent tonking hasn't had any mental effect.

I have noticed this season that when we are confident of a win - we throw it away - the prime example was sunderland after a 2 week rest.

When we expect to get hammered we do ourselves proud more often than not - Stoke, arsenal (H), Man Utd+City.

 

People seem to have completley forgotten are abilty to not win games.... fulham, swansea, man utd and tbh city were actually there (somehow) for the taking! We are still at a point where we have to play well and the other team **** for it to be anything other than a fight. And if PL lets villa play like that against us then he'll be sacked afterwards.

 

Will be a good game, and we CAN win it... But my god do not go there expecting a walkover unless the team are on fire and well motivated! We are missing Adz, maybe clyne, maybe GR and definetly Fonte. Not brilliant in my honest opinion!

Villa look garbage. Bradford look League 2 garbage. Going with form so far. The whole thing is pretty embarrassing for the villa I'd of thought, but apparently not. Lambert celebrated the goal like they'd just won Champions League.

 

Its the closest they're going to get for at least 3 years.
