saint_sinner Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 set to be released by Manure in the summer did we dodge a bullet?
alpine_saint Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 set to be released by Manure in the summer did we dodge a bullet? You mean Alex Buttner. Hopefully a kind mod will change the title for you. I thought he had been doing OK performance-wise. Disciplinary issues p*ssing Fergie off ?
Junior Mullet Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Decent player with potential. Attitude may be an issue.
Saint Charlie Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Bit of a misleading OP. They just want to loan him out apparantly to get some first team games as he has only played 1 league game this season. Of the two I would have Shaw any day of the week so not missing having him at all.
Barry Sanchez Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I would have him on loan, great for competition for places, get rid of Fox as well.
Bearsy Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 (edited) shut up bearsy! Edited 8 January, 2013 by Bearsy
Dig Dig Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I would have him on loan, great for competition for places, get rid of Fox as well. If they want him to get games, Saints isn't a good place to go at the moment. Especially if he's behind a 17 year old in the pecking order.
Barry Sanchez Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Shaw wont play every game and with Fox as back up he has to at the moment, Buttner would be competition for places, good move in my humble.
Crazy Diamond Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Where's the source on this? Also, he's not been given a great deal of chances to prove himself, so I don't think he can be judged on his time at United in all fairness. It does seem another one of Ferguson's dodgy agent friends giving him players though. Bebe anyone?
TopGun Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 He turned down Saints for the big "I am" at Man U. I see no reason to give him a second chance.
Saint Garrett Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I would have him on loan, great for competition for places, get rid of Fox as well. Why? He had his chance to come here and chose Man Utd, **** him
dubai_phil Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Why? He had his chance to come here and chose Man Utd, **** him Which will no doubt be the attitude of the club. Is he better than what we have? Then don't sign him even on loan. He is not match fit has only played 1 PL game - his 1st appearance at this level for us would be guaranteed almost Foxesque
Avenue Saint Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Shaw needs competition, can't expect a 17/18 year old to play out the best part of a whole season... Fox, isn't good enough. Buttner? No thanks, however someone else of a good level, would be a decent addition
Wes Tender Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 He had the chance to play for the mighty Saints and spurned it, thinking that he would be good enough for a regular starting place in United's team. Well, he wasn't and now he looks like a reject. Serves him right.
Mowgli Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 If I remember his Dad screwed his chances of coming here. Does seem to think a lot more of himself than others do though. We should not be looking to sign any player who is not substantially better than we have already. He's not.
saints-cris Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Think if he's said no to us we probably won't be looking at him again.
SaintNeil90 Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2013/01/08/3655205/manchester-uniteds-buttner-set-for-summer-loan-move He has been told he can go on loan next season to gain first team experience after only making one league start this season. Hardly 'set to be released'.

Turkish Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 He turned down Saints for the big "I am" at Man U. I see no reason to give him a second chance. To be fair not many players would choose us over Man United. *waits for someone to quote Nathaniel Clyne*
Barry Sanchez Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Shaw is not built like Cole though, and Cole did not start playing all the time for Arsenal until he was in his early 20's, he also went out on loan to gain experience, a bit like Buttner.
pingwing Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Buttner has looked more like a LW being forced to play LB (bit like Rafael to he honest). Best to be glad his agent wanted more money (or his dad if the stories were true) as he probably would have ended up like Fox on the scrap heap miles down the pecking order.
Dig Dig Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Buttner could have opted for us like Nathaniel Clyne did. Shows what a good decision it was from Clyne to choose a club for pure footballing reasons and not for the prestige.
This Charming Man Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Buttner could have opted for us like Nathaniel Clyne did. Shows what a good decision it was from Clyne to choose a club for pure footballing reasons and not for the prestige. Buttner could still end up with a Premiership medal, CL medal and an FA Cup medal at the end of the season, I'm sure he'll be gutted he missed out on a season long relegation battle.

It depends on whether he has any pride? If he just wants to sit on the bench, polishing the medals he made little or no contribution towards, then good luck to the man. Just maybe he'd like to be playing regular first team footbal and doing something meaningful on a weekly basis?

I wasn't serious CM, Turkish set it up above. Still though, sure he'd rather play football than get some medals you don't actully deserve. I know I would anyway.
Mowgli Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I can safely assume he is better than Fox. Assume away. I suspect you would be disappointed.
Crazy Diamond Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2013/01/08/3655205/manchester-uniteds-buttner-set-for-summer-loan-move He has been told he can go on loan next season to gain first team experience after only making one league start this season. Hardly 'set to be released'. Indeed.

Don't you have to play in at least 12 games or something to qualify for a PL medal? Buttner is unlike to manage half that at the moment
Barry Sanchez Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Assume away. I suspect you would be disappointed. One eyed approach ey? I far prefer a fair assessment, Fox is ****e and I am not sure about Buttner but surely he would be great on loan would be valid competition for Shaw?
Lord Duckhunter Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 It depends on whether he has any pride? Just maybe he'd like to be playing regular first team footbal and doing something meaningful on a weekly basis? Watching the Liverpool Mansfield game the commentator said that Daniel Sturridge was looking to add to his haul of 2 FA cup winners medals. Then went on to add, he was an unused sub last season and came on for the last 90 seconds against the Skates. Surely these guys have an empty feeling picking up medals that they've not really earnt?

captainchris Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I can safely assume he is better than Fox. Yes but that doesn't say much does it lol
