Sharp Sold?

No idea if true or not but I always assumed it was a loan deal as we were hedging our bets as to what to do with him next summer when we see what division we'll be in next summer. Very valuable player in the Championship however I do understand why he is one of the promotion team / squad not given a chance in the Premier League given the sort of player he is and what we might need this season. Although that said if the club bombed him out to get Mayuka in then it was a pointless exercise.

If he has left for £4m then we've at least flipped a good profit on him and if the deal is confirmed in this transfer window then it may point to some decent activity from ourselves.

Big fan of Billy, both as a person and a footballer, and I'd welcome him back here next season.

That said, if Forest are willing to pay £4m to secure his services then that would be a great deal for us.

Signed for around £1.8m, scored the goals to get us over the line in our promotion bid and then sold on for more than double.

THAT'S how to do business!

I'd be amazed if we got £4m. Massive fan of the guy and he was vital for us last season, but I just don't think he's cut out for the level we're at now. If he becomes a good PL striker in the future I will be happy to admit I was wrong, but I don't think he has the all-round game required for this league. The player that 'comes alive' in the penalty area is a dying breed, they need to have much more to their game. Javier Hernandez, for example, has pace and the ability to beat a man as well as clinical finishing. You just wouldn't see the likes of Earnshaw or Chopra, for example, getting a sniff in this division anymore.

Rumours seem to be flying around that Sharp has joined Forest for £4m. Anyone??

well I noted that both Mc Goldrick and Mc´Lean have gone out on loan to Ipswich, so they must have " some sort of deal " lined up, and Billy has scored 10 times for Forest - so far..

silly for them not to bid for him - isn't it ?

as they have him for the season, I didn't think they needed to.

TRUE.., but we don't know the terms of the loan, (?) maybe we have the right to re-call him ?

it might be embarrassing for them to lose their top scorer if we do (?)......and ...it might be less expensive for them to buy him now, and be sure he's " on board ".

If he ends up as that League's top scorer..what price might he fetch, then ?

If we do go down I can't really see Rod or Lambert leaving, meaning he would still be 3rd choice striker. I'd love to see him here as those three would be a huge step towards getting promoted again. I'd prefer he stayed but I suspect Billy will want first team football.

Anyway, is there anything at all behind this rumour other thanthe OP saying, 'rumours flying around'. Or is this just a bunch of nobodies on twitter retweeting a load of nonesense.

£4 million was the figure my Forest supporting mate told me a couple of weeks ago...apparently they're resigned to losing Blackstock either now or the end of the season when his contract expires, so want to get a squad now to blend together & have a go for the top 2 next season (and if they creep into the play offs this season all the better).

Those people that think Sharp isn’t up to the Premiership may well be right; after all, they seem to include members of our coaching staff who I readily concede are better placed than me to judge these things. However, at the start of the season, people said the same thing about Fonte and one or two others. Personally, I’d like to have seen Sharp given more of a chance to prove himself at this level but following the summer transfers that was always going to be difficult.

Sadly, I can no longer see the point in us holding on to him. If we’re relegated, even allowing for the fact that Sharp has a great attitude, what motivation will he have to get us back to the Premiership when he knows that Saints will most likely reward success by loaning him back to the Championship again?

He can't be recalled. He insisted on that when he agreed to go. There is really no reason for NF to pay out until next summer.

Their owners want to make a statement though, they want to get the fans back on their side. It's fair to say that they've ****ed a fair few off after their dealings over the last month.

Their chairman is pretty vocal at the best of times via twitter etc, and is a known admirer of Sharp as a player. According to one of their fans, he's actually publicly said in one of the hospitality lounges that they will do all they can to sign him now.

Yep. Written off and f*cked off after two short subsitution appearances. A great reward for the bloke whose goals got us over the finish line.

Football is not about rewarding well paid and well looked after players, its a cut throat business, sometimes you aint wanted, tough! If they can do it to Lampard, then Billy Sharp aint going to be an exception.

Noodie, imo he wasnt even given the chance to show he wasnt up to it. Especially considering how the rest of the team was also performing at that time.

it could easily be said he nearly messed it up , after his pathetic penalty at Blackpool that turned the game to a loss. It could easily have cost us.

I like BS but I do not feel he is quick enough , we do not create chances that he needs, ie in the 6 yard box, is forever off-side.

He is CCC but i do not feel is the next grade up.
