Colinjb Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Was Mauricio Pochettino in charge of Espanyol when he went there on loan? Yes, he was.
Alain Perrin Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 I can see this as a completely plausible reason for NC to meet with him.... to sound MP out about Coutinho?
trousers Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 @officialsaints: Southampton Football Club has appointed Mauricio Pochettino as First Team Manager having relieved Nigel Adkins of his duties. #saintsfc
Scummer Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Wonder if Adkins has been struggling to get people to sign for us (including this guy) and Pochettino's name cropped up. Must make it more likely that Coutinho joins us.

MOSaint Posted 20 January, 2013 Posted 20 January, 2013 I thought our bid was €10.5m? Also; Alex Goring Crook @alex_crook @deark3009 think Coutinho could be a target but they were keener on him in the summer. Been told Astori is a no go
Glasgow_Saint Posted 20 January, 2013 Posted 20 January, 2013 Pinocchio nose the player from his Espanyol days......... But did he play regularly while at Espanyol? Think he only played a total of 15 games in the 6 months he was there?

Glasgow_Saint Posted 20 January, 2013 Posted 20 January, 2013 16 games from february to may. 5 goals, 1 assist. Ok so he was a first choice? 1 assist seems low for a playmaker?
Olallana Posted 20 January, 2013 Posted 20 January, 2013 Ok so he was a first choice? 1 assist seems low for a playmaker? Yes, started every game, missed one due to suspension. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/philippe-coutinho-correia/leistungsdaten/spieler_80444_2011.html

Also; So according to Crook Astori is a no go, but according to this http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/southampton-sack-nigel-adkins-the-writing-1544510 he is likely to sign... Just shows that you have to take everything from the media with a pinch of salt.
Granite_City_Saint Posted 20 January, 2013 Posted 20 January, 2013 SSN reporting Liverpool in talks with Inter Milan re Coutinho
S-Clarke Posted 20 January, 2013 Posted 20 January, 2013 SSN reporting Liverpool in talks with Inter Milan re Coutinho I'd love to **** them off and nick him from under their noses as well. I'm sure we just wait for them to pep up their interest before we make our move...
Saint Charlie Posted 20 January, 2013 Posted 20 January, 2013 I'd love to **** them off and nick him from under their noses as well. I'm sure we just wait for them to pep up their interest before we make our move... We probably aren't in for him anymore.

SuperSAINT Posted 20 January, 2013 Posted 20 January, 2013 Sneijder now signed for Galatasary. I'd imagine Coutinho is now their No.1 target.
S-Clarke Posted 20 January, 2013 Posted 20 January, 2013 That's a real come down for Wesley. I'm sure he's better than that league......
SuperSAINT Posted 20 January, 2013 Posted 20 January, 2013 That's a real come down for Wesley. I'm sure he's better than that league...... Certainly an improvement over Colin Kazim-Richards...

for_heaven's_Saint Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 @GraemeBailey: Liverpool Echo claim Inter Milan's Philippe Coutinho will soon be signing for Brendan Rodgers's side. Oh good, he'll be coming here then.
Saint_clark Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 That's a real come down for Wesley. I'm sure he's better than that league...... But one of the few leagues that will pay him the £100k+ a week he wants. It was either there or Russia.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 But one of the few leagues that will pay him the £100k+ a week he wants. It was either there or Russia. Or QPR...
Saint Garrett Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Supposedly he wanted to go to Liverpool but not enough to drop his wages which is why he took a while to decided but the offer never came from them. He was on £240k a week at Inter which is why they wanted to get rid of him. Think Galatasaray are only paying something like £4m in transfer fees for him.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 There's also only 15% tax in Turkey I believe.
SuperSAINT Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 @GraemeBailey: Liverpool Echo claim Inter Milan's Philippe Coutinho will soon be signing for Brendan Rodgers's side. Are they still going to try and get Ince? Seems weird to think Coutinho would be 2nd choice.
Saint Garrett Posted 21 January, 2013 Posted 21 January, 2013 Tancredi Palmeri@tancredipalmeri For all those asking about Coutinho, there is no evidence of a second bid from Liverpool. The first,8m €,was turned down because it was surely too low but also because Inter not keen at all about selling. So,probably, raising just few millions won't make change mind to Inter.About his level, maybe won't be great but surely he will be very good, but most of all his level of improvement still has no limits
