What a ridiculous thing to say, if I was not wanted at Inter - and they wanted to sell me I'd want to leave.

Safe to say I'd want to play for the club with the bigger reputation too... doesn't mean you'd not give your all at the new club.

Especially with Poche here.

**** me didn't realise we are already adopting lovey dovey names for the new manager. Aww come on Philipe come and sign for your lil Poche didykins

@tancredipalmeri: Few tweets to reply to a question that many gave:would Inter accept the Liverpool 8m if they won't get the raise they want from Saints?

@tancredipalmeri: Said that nobody has crystal ball, and that works especially with Inter which change often and suddenly strategy, let's say that is unlikely

@tancredipalmeri: that Inter would accept first Liverpool offer as was already outbid by second Southampton offer, and that would take two steps back for Inter

@tancredipalmeri: It is also true that Coutinho wants Liverpool(but,so far, doesn't mean an absolute no to Saints)but it is very very difficult that Inter,

@tancredipalmeri: totally linked to Paulinho:who,so far, didn't say yes,and for whom Inter is gathering the money through Coutinho.Only if Paulinho would say

@tancredipalmeri: 'I'm ready to sign' so in that case Inter -in case of stalement with Saints- to make money the quickest possible, would accept that 8m

@tancredipalmeri: This is how exactly is the situation in this moment. And it is how many times works these transfers intrigues, situation evolving day by day

Who the bloody hell do Inter think they are coming over here asking for an extra million?

To be honest with you that could of been done over the phone so it's bull****.

If the player wants to be at Liverpool then I totally understand as they are a bigger club (history blah blah) but I do believe that he has a friend of his at the club called Lucas who has sold the club to him.

I honestly believe Inter are playing a game with us to raise the figure from Liverpool, If not then the player has a difficult decision to make with Saints.

I'm pretty sure Cortese & co have got other options out there.

True that they can make it over the phone. What they can´t do over the phone is to sign papers so THAT might be the reason they would come over....

Of course they´re trying to get the most out of it, I expect the same from us if we were selling a player.

Well let´s see if the story ends today...

player prefers Liverpool then let him go there, no point throwing cash at him qpr style, much rather we move on from this stalemate to secure our wide option, we only have a week to go! why not look locally, there's a certain Tom ince at blackpool? or is that not glamorous for NC and his champions league dream

Inter haven't changed their asking price. The value of the pound vs the euro has changed significantly recently. It'll cost us more pounds to meet their Euro valuation.

Ungrateful little sh*t ... Southampton gave your country football, learn some respect.

I find it a little strange that everyone is so hung up on the rumour that this chap prefers Liverpool. It's an assumption that says to saints if you don't give us more we'll let him go for less to Liverpool. Do you think NC would still be near this deal if that was the case? More likely US or Liverpool are already out. BTW, paperwork done over the phone is called a fax, or, can be scanned and emailed, posted later. Good stuff this technology!

He is no way worth 13m, we could get Biglia+Ince for that, which would be better anyway

This , and I still can't believe I'm writing this about Saints !

For what seemed like years transfer windows were all about trying desparately to keep ahold of players - I was actually glad when they brought in the the windows as it meant everyone would leave us alone for a few months. Used to be the case that one of our players had a good run of form over a few matches and the next week one of the big boys came knocking as they had injury problems.

Happy days :)

Why are people assuming Ince is better? This lad is currently playing for Inter Milan and has a full Brazil cap, i'm not quite sure how people are working that one out. not that i dont rate Ince but a 20 year old Inter Milan player with a cap for one of the best international teams in the world sounds in a different league, no?

I agree. And I think that if we can bring in Coutinho that will open up our possibilites in the summer to attract better players. If you show that by making two marque signings (Gaston and Coutinho) other players will notice the ambitions a lot more than just to have one signing of that type.

Sorry to do an MLG but think Courinho is only 18

we are in danger of taking our eye off the ball again, as we did with Ramirez in the summer.

Other targets out there will not sit about waiting whilst we throw everything into getting this lad from Inter.

If it goes tits up, we will be left with nothing and only a few days of the window to go.

A perfect recipe for panic buying at the last minute

I don't think Ince is better, Coutinho is the better player now and I think has more potential. However, I think he (Ince) is a decent prospect which could potentially improve our squad, fits what we need (versatile wide man with pace and trickery) and being English will take less time to settle and adapt than Coutinho.

I also think he should be cheaper and might be easier (quicker) to acquire as seemingly no one else is after him. I also think he's better than Zaha who Man Utd have jsut paid £15 million for.

Why do you assume Saints can't do more than one deal at a time?
