Where should the away fans sit

It's something the club has explored, but there's so many complications in it. One of the area's they could move them to is the Itchen/Chapel Corner, the Megastore in that area would go...and that would be the ''enclosed'' away turnstiles.

They want to move the mega store to it's own building, as shown in some of the diagrams over the summer. So it may well be that this is a consideration (also aided by the fact that the home fans gained access to the Chapel end '''above ground level'', thus keeping the fans separated). I think that would work.

Today was a joke, why cant we just put them in the Chapel, singing fans in opposite sides of the ground, like the old days, if we dont do something it wont be our form that takes us down it will be the atmosphere FFS

Why should they. that is the saints home. end.

A sensible reaction and I agree. I recall when away fans were barred from the Milton, it was great banter and singing between the Milton and the Archers

because the fans in the northam would move to the chapel to taunt the away fans...

Ecept for ALL Ticket games the vocal side of Saints support also moved to the Archers, Milton was never the same again

Completely agree with the OP. The atmosphere in the ground today was absolutely DIRE. To give so many tickets to Chelski is one thing, but to give them a significant area of seats where our most vocal home supporters are situated was almost like giving them an extra player. It certainly didn't provide an 'FA Cup' type atmosphere - it was as flat as pancake and the team needed lifting by the crowd after their 2nd goal. Huge gaff IMO.

Frankly if that's what we've got to look forward to win or lose, I'm just not going to bother spending my hard earned - if the club can't be arsed to sort it out why the hell should I bother?

The huge area behind the goal doesn't help. But it seems its also a big factor that a lot of the core support doesn't go. Of the ST lads I go with, none went today. Lots of others I know who didn't. I was in West Quay car park and some day trippers asked me the way to the ground.

With a 32K stadium an enhanced FA Cup allocation is always going to make a significant row. There's not really anywhere you can put a crowd that size without noticing it. I also think having block 42 ST holders relocate doesn't help.

Its not a huge gaff by the Club. The number of tickets for away supporters is governed by the FA, 15% if I recall correctly, as opposed to 10% in the PL. Where they sit is governed by the Hampshire Old Bill. Now, if you are talking about making this different in the future then I agree. But this was discussed before and many were against the obvious suggestions such as moving the away supporters to the Kingsland/Chapel corner because "it would ruin the atmosphere", in any case the OB would never agree. In my opinion we should organise for the home support to relocate to the Chapel en masse, it should have been our Kop in the first place. Maybe in time when we expand we can put the away supporters in the top tier of the Northam.

That move must have been in about 78 - I remember in 77 seeing Saints V Millwall as a 10 year old with my dad in the Archers. There was a single line of coppers separating the 2 sets of fans in the Milton, with 'Wall on the western, Hill Lane side. Needless to say punches rained over and between the coppers' heads between the two groups and lots of seething ebb and flow in the crowd. Far more entertaining than the match, which was dire. We lost 0-2.
