Zlavik Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 Fonte got injured and we have some good players that might be tired for the villa game. Could the choice to play a decent side cost us our place in the premier league?
Thedelldays Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 it was not a problem a few years ago in the JPT...when we went on that cup run that cost us a playoff spot well, at least we are out now lol
Saint Charlie Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 If we had put out a worse side we could have got beaten by 10 versus Chelsea's first choice XI. Injuries just happen.
Matthew Le God Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 Fonte got injured and we have some good players that might be tired for the villa game. Could the choice to play a decent side cost us our place in the premier league? The Villa game is a week away. Villa play in the League Cup semi final on Tuesday, they will be more tired than us. Looks like we might have Astori to replace Fonte.
Turkish Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 Yes. Losing at home to the European champions without 4 of our best players on the first Saturday in January in a different competition will definitely mean we will be relegated in May.
Stu Man Do Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 No, this result won't effect the next 18 results. We lost Adam Lallana in a league game against Reading, seems more likely that will help us get relegated than this result. As others have said if we'd played a reserve team against that Chelsea team we'd have lost by 10.
WealdSaint Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 The Fonte injury is a real worry, but we had to put out a half decent side. DeRidder & Lee both had a good run out which was a good thing.
Zlavik Posted 5 January, 2013 Author Posted 5 January, 2013 'kin bed wetting drama queens. Just because I ask a question, doesn't mean that I agree with the question. I don't think that we'll get relegated thanks to this game, but I think it's a good discussion to have.
saint_bert Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 Villa away is a week away. If any player that played today, cannot play in that game because they are tired, they should seek medical help.
Leicestersaint Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 Fonte got injured and we have some good players that might be tired for the villa game. Could the choice to play a decent side cost us our place in the premier league? I think this is ridiculous - if they can't manage two games in a week there is something wrong with them. Last time the players had a fortnight off they were dreadful against Sunderland - better to play more often not less.
alpine_saint Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 F**ked confidence F**ked CB I should say so..

Turkish Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 Why does everyone keep going on about our confidence being f*cked. How about looking at it th other way that some players will be out to put this right and have a point to prove next week.
VectisSaint Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 F**ked confidence F**ked CB I should say so.. Predictable

How about looking at it th other way that some players will be out to put this right and have a point to prove next week. Or how about it teaches Adkins that Jack Cork is not a right back, that he was missed at CM, that it gives him more of an idea about how Rodriguez can play up front on his own, and more of a nod to the specific frailities and things to work upon without some of our first choice players and the best ways to combat those in their continued absence.
S-Clarke Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 Villa away is a week away. If any player that played today, cannot play in that game because they are tired, they should seek medical help. Pretty much this.

Yep, and that we have zero strength in depth. At the end we had on 2 17 year olds, Cork out of position, Guly who was awful and our subs were average championship players.

Exactly my thinking. Plus he would have noticed the rust hasn't come off our goalkeeper yet.
the stain Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 Fonte got injured and we have some good players that might be tired for the villa game. Could the choice to play a decent side cost us our place in the premier league? Yes. We will now, without doubt, be relegated. Well done Nigel.
Saints boy in Leeds Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 'kin bed wetting drama queens. Agree, I obviously want the best for my team but if we do go down I will still support saints, saints will still be in a great league (championship) and we won't be in a position like Leeds were a few years back by having loads of panic buys on silly wages. I'm enjoying this season as its good for our clubs profile, even if it is only for 1 season (IMO)
St Chalet Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 Boruc Richardson Hooiveld Yoshida Fox Chaplow Davis Jwp Mayuka Lee Jrod Does show how short of cover we are at CB.
Junction 9 Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 I can confirm that the F.A cup is an entirely seperate competition from the Premier league. Regardless of any result you achieve in a the cup, it has no baring on league position at all. The league table will be exactly as it was until the next set of Premier league fixtures are played out.
St Chalet Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 You never know, Benitez might rest a few players against us on the 16th now.
SaintNeil90 Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 Pointless question. Who knows. Wait and see?
SaintSteve Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 Yep, and that we have zero strength in depth. At the end we had on 2 17 year olds, Cork out of position, Guly who was awful and our subs were average championship players. Exactly why it was somewhat depressing.. our squad's lack of depth was clear to everyone watching this match, as well as square pegs...but with Clyne back. Cork in central MField + Lambert/Ramirez we are a Premiership outfit.
LeBenali Posted 5 January, 2013 Posted 5 January, 2013 If we do end up getting relegated, it won't be due to anything that happened today (unless we sell Ramirez, Lallana, Lambert, Shaw & Schneiderlin before midnight)
