Saints vs Chelsea Match & Reactions Thread

Troll, troll, troll. Everyone who doesnt see your blinkered view of supporting Saints is a troll. How completely lacking self-awareness you are, seeing as what you are doing is the real trolling around here.

The Ba deal, compared to our pratting about in the transfer market, is the perfect example to demonstrate the gulf between us and the powers of the PL.

Money talks, and we are second-rate. Therefore we employ a niggardly aggravating approach to transfer activity which almost certainly leads to most targets lost.

You really need to deal with this.

Not worth replying to, shouldn't have done so in the first place.

You'll have to find someone else to humour you and all that anger and frustration you carry

Not worth replying to, or unable to do so ? You disagree about our relative standing in the transfer market ? Elaborate on how I've got it so wrong...if you can.

Oh, the irony of questioning my intelligence...

We have known the squad shortcomings for MONTHS, so its safe to assume that the club management know them too (otherwise we have bigger problems with going forward than this season...)

Why does the effort of identifying targets, preparing proposals, clearing the way on the financials, not start until the window opens ?

The club should have a target list based on weak positions, back up targets should the clubs or individuals not agree to terms, numbers for fees and pay they are willing to go to, and this work should have been done weeks ago.

Then, when the window opens, the club should have been making the phone lines coming out of SMS glow red-hot, going through the target and back-up lists. If enough preparation had been done, I am 1000% certain this club would have a new CB by now.But no, the club is playing clever-d*ck games, trying to scrimp a few 100Ks on million-pound deals, despite risking a PL berth worth tens of millions.

If you really believe that transfer deals all have to be as complex as Gaston, when it is as plain as the nose on your face that its money that talks, as exemplified with the zero-fuss lightning speed by which Chelsea were able to sign Ba in good time to destroy us, than I contend it is YOU who has the intelligence problem.

Quote Adkins before the Chelsea game:

Adkins is still looking to strengthen his squad this month, with Cagliari defender Davide Astori among those linked with a move to St Mary's.

"I think you've always got to improve," Adkins said. "You can't stand still. Whatever we've done in the past is in the past. We've got to keep looking at the future.

"We've got to keep moving forward, moving on and everyone has got to keep striving to do that.

"We've had our recruitment meeting well before the January window has opened.

"We have a good recruitment department, we have targeted several players, we have had conversations about availability and non-availability.

"I would like to think that during the course of the window a couple of people will be coming in."

You can't just keep making up bull****. Lets face it, you know absolutely nothing about what is happening behind the scenes (as do none of us) and choose to ignore any evidence or quotes that don't back up what you say.

We had a recruitment meeting way in advance of the window opening, have made enquiries and offers for players. Some very good ones. These things always take time because many clubs, agents and the player are involved.

Be patient.

But stop spouting rubbish that you have zero evidence of. Unless you are part of the transfer committee?

Nope. Cant be patient. More and more games are slipping by. NAs comments sound a bit like lip service to me. "A meeting" ?

Yes, you are right, I know nothing for certain. But we have a dire track record, including last summer for identifying urgent areas and completing things quickly, which suggests a lack of proactivity.

So far one game of the window (a cup game) has "slipped by".

We have offers in, it takes two to do a deal.

You think NA is paying lip service? Expected that response. Much better to ignore what our Manager has said about the recruitment meeting happening in advance of the window, on the record, and instead think that the club are sitting around not doing much (because that fits with your argument).

No wonder nobody takes you seriously.

Frankly couldnt care who takes me seriously or not.

Our transfer track record is self-explanatory. We either dont take it seriously or dont have the clout to complete.

The fact of the matter is that if we were winning most weeks, you wouldn't hear from Alpine. That's been proven quite a lot. He seemed to go very quite during a decent spell recently. He'll use the reason that there's not much to talk about when we're winning, well there is, just not many negative things to talk about. Which is all he seems to want to talk about.

I feel sorry for him really, very depressed.

And however many times you whine this point incessantly, it still aint true. I am here after every match, giving my opinion.

Also, I reckon the mods could demonstrate that there is generally more traffic following a defeat than a victory. Its human nature to moan and focus more on the negatives.

Of course there is even more discussion during the transfer window, especially how we conduct it.

Sorry to butt in on your daily complaining fest but if it was "Human Nature" as you put it, virtually everyone would agree

with your drivel but as you can see they don`t...

Why don't we do role play so we can see how quick it can be done to buy players? Here is how it works:

Alpine can play role of Southampton Chairman trying to buy famous defender Davide Astori

Dig Dig can play role of Cagliari Chairman

Saint Charlie can play role of rival club interested in bidding on Davide Astori

Kraken can play role of Davide Astori's Agent

Delldays can play role of Davide Astori

Bearsy can play role of Davide Astori's wag, warning tho guys I may not be interested in moving to Southampton cos is sh!thole!

Come on guys! Let us see if we can get deal done before window close! Clock is ticking!

I'm up for this!

I'll have to wait for Alpine to start though if it's to be realistic although maybe I can mess about with the wag in the meantime?
