I'm sure this must of been mentioned before, available on a free, prem experience, loves saints, would of been good whilst shaw was developing, looking good for Brighton today

I think this is the first time anyone's mentioned him on here since we sold him to Chelsea.

I'm sure I read that he's still on 90k pw, but Brighton are only paying a bit of that while he's on loan from Citeh.

Not really the sort of deal we go after. And you say prem experience delldays - the only experience he's had in the last 4 years was sitting on the bench and picking up his ridiculous wages.

That said, he does look decent enough today.

Was pretty good for west ham according to my mates. The problem when they got relegated, in their defence was Jacobsen and Upson who were dreadful, and Tomkins who wasn't ready.

Think he could have done a decent job for us and would have been a better back up than Fox, but like other have said, we don't really go for 30+'s or loans from the 'big boys'

because it's definitely possible for us to speak directly to the manager whenever we want isn't it...

So instead lets ask the question of a bunch of clueless fans who have nothing better to do than to second guess the management on an internet forum.

Have you thought that he might just have been trying to promote a discussion about whether Wayne Bridge would have been a good signing or not..? Do you have nothing better to do than come and troll on here?

i think management thought that fox would be up to more in the prem and at that point wouldve been seen very much seen as buying an old hand whos not amazing and getting in the way of shaw with two people above him in the squad. Bit of hindsight and maybe bridge would provide good support to shaw but i cant imagine a situation where we couldve sold fox in the summer

He looked good today. I went to watch Brighton v Newcastle, who were toothless. Good reminder why we got rid of Hammond. We'd have beaten both sides, although Brighton had a goo midfielder called Birdcutt or something. Was trying to stay awake. Hard being in other club grounds.

I watched it on the telly and thought Hammond was alright. Newcastle was a reserve side and they were terrible until the sending off. Embarassing seeing Brighton fans give themselves a round of applause when the attendance was announced.

I thought the applause came when the Newcastle attendance was announced and I assumed that Brighton were applauding Newcastle for bringing a sizeable support especially considering the distances involved.

Brighton only pay 30% of his wages and Mancini described him as the least motivated professional player he'd ever experienced. I think that says it all.

My view is that he never quite recovered his form after that horrendous Shearer tackle that broke his ankle (in two places I think) and then the whole Terry debacle.

Why the hell would they do that?! The camera was also on the Newcastle fans when it happened and you could see a few of them taking the p*ss.

they were taking the wee. the atmosphere wasn't great, and it was a bit dreary. and hammond was very slow indeed - not popular in the stands near me at least. ground's okay - good park and ride, but bit soulless. one thing they did do which i quite liked was put a video on before kick-off of big moments for the club right through the ages. Bit marketingy but seemed popular. Suspect newcastle coudln't give a toss about going out.

Thats what happens when you pay a average player £90k a week. Why would he be motivated to go and permanently play for anyone else on lower wages.

Oh do grow up mate. The only people who know the reason do not spend time on here but they clearly didn't want him so why bother speculating about why when there are offers being made on other players who we clearly do want?

Were the Buttner transfer rumours really true?I was surprised we were looking for a left back seeing as it was clear Shaw was going to get games. Maybe they weren't ever looking for a left back, hence no interest in Bridge. I'd of taken him. He only looked poor when dropped in at teh deep end having played no games at all. Most players need games to get fully match fit.

Was it clear? I doubt they were certain Shaw would be as comfortable as he is so early.
