Monk Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 Can anyone confirm if this is the same Fran from Saints foundation?
Saint Charlie Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 Not sure, I know he had been doing some coaching for Saints in the Community. Basically he is a Spanish football coach who is mainly there to be a translator for Gaston. Nice guy - helping out on the training ground rather than coaching the team. He has been helping in the warm up the last few games.
Monk Posted 3 January, 2013 Author Posted 3 January, 2013 That's the one, he was my partner on my youth modules around 6 months ago.
stevegrant Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 Where was Javi when they needed him? Mopping toilets again, I expect.
This Charming Man Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 Where was Javi when they needed him? Surely he's been sectioned by now?
Saint Charlie Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 Where was Javi when they needed him? If you can find Jacinta Ela Eyena then you will find Javi nearby (and probably a signed photo of Javi de Pedro).
Saint Garrett Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 Bit like that Japanese fella who was Lee's translator and now part of the coaching set up!?
This Charming Man Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 Bit like that Japanese fella who was Lee's translator and now part of the coaching set up!? We must be on the look out for the new Mourinho.
buctootim Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 If you can find Jacinta Ela Eyena then you will find Javi nearby (and probably a signed photo of Javi de Pedro). No need. He's here. http://www.javierigeno.com/j/
Saint Charlie Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 Bit like that Japanese fella who was Lee's translator and now part of the coaching set up!? That guy is actually a genuine coach but yes, they help around the training ground and act as translators/helpers for certain players to help them settle. Pretty reasonable really.
sotonjoe Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 No need. He's here. http://www.javierigeno.com/j/ Christ. Looks like Javi made a career out of his courting of players.
stevegrant Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 Christ. Looks like Javi made a career out of his courting of players. Absolutely terrifying.
Monk Posted 3 January, 2013 Author Posted 3 January, 2013 Fran is a genuine coach as well, typically Spanish in his methods but nonetheless a very good coach.
The9 Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 If you can find Jacinta Ela Eyena then you will find Javi nearby (and probably a signed photo of Javi de Pedro). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacinto_El%C3%A1 Still couldn't tell you where he was.
The9 Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 Christ. Looks like Javi made a career out of his courting of players. Judging from the amount of stuff he's stuck on there about marketing which is lifted from the public domain, I'd be inclined to think he's trying to pass himself off as someone he's not. The bit about "hotel management training" stashed under the bullsh111t about what he did when in Southampton and at Hoddle's Academy is probably nearer the truth, along with something about speaking two languages and that being handy to give the players someone to talk to in their own language for a bit.
The9 Posted 3 January, 2013 Posted 3 January, 2013 That guy is actually a genuine coach but yes, they help around the training ground and act as translators/helpers for certain players to help them settle. Pretty reasonable really. And this is why Javi is no kind of "Football Consultant" - because all of the integration people nowadays also have other directly useful football-related skills.

But the two former Southampton managers now seemingly have a disciple of their own. Lewes Women boss Fran Alonso describes his years alongside the pair in the Premier League as "like being at the best university in the world", having initially worked under Pochettino at Saints, before moving with Koeman to Everton.
