Surprisingly tough considering we are only out of the relegation zone on GD.

Who do you think has been our player of the season so far?

I'd be inclined to say Fonte, shaky start but been an ever present solid performer and a leader on the pitch.

Jack Cork. He's made the midfield noticeably stronger since he returned and put in 8/10 performances in pretty much every game he's played.

Rickie Lambert has stepped up to the PL really well too, plus Morgan, so they'd be my top three.

Cork, very closely followed by Morgan, Lambert and Fonte.

Very impressed by how those 4 have stepped up, they look Premier League quality all the way.

Hmmm, think I'll go for Luke Shaw to be honest. I think Cork's made a difference but not as much as Shaw.

To be fair most of the team have impressed me how they have stepped up to the mark and improved as the season has progressed. I am going for Fonte as he was my main "not up to the job" at the beginning of the season but he has proved me wrong.

I hate to agree with The Krackpot but I agree with her

3 stand out to me. Fonte, Cork and Morgan. Probably in that order.

Even when we were shipping goals all over the place, I still thought Fonte looked our better CB out there.

Im not really into dating footballers.

You should do. They buy you loads of stuff encrusted with diamonds and invite all their mates over for a go each every now and then.

So tough to pick one name out - decent cases for all of the above. I'd go with Fonte (just). If Cork/Shaw had played from the start then would probably say one of those two. Morgan has impressed massively too, as has Punch.

The difference in our team since Cork and Shaw became regular starters has been amazing. Which of those has made the most difference is hard to say, but the job that the manager has done in getting the team playing solidly shouldn't be underestimated. The fact that so many get an honourable mention is testament to a great team ethic and overall improvement.

Gotta be Jack Cork in my view.

Since he recovered from injury he has been selected every game; our team looks a lot more secure, has stopped shipping goals (like we were early on) and we look like a team with a whole new level of composure.

Partly because he plays a largely unsung role, but has been really consistent, he gets overlooked a lot of the time...... we take what he does for granted. In addition, because of how well he's doing what he does, there is less pressure on Morgan who can operate in a freer role.

Quite a few choices.

Clyne, for stepping up to the Premier League with ease and making the right back slot his own.

Fonte, for improving when he had to and becoming a solid Premiership defender.

Cork, for solidifying the defence.

Shaw, for mature, almost exceptional performances at left back.

Lambert, for getting goals and proving a handful for defences.

For me, and I say with this with forgiveness in my voice, it's Puncheon. He's won us points and has proven a huge asset on the wing.

.

TBH I thought Cork looked better at right back on Tuesday than Clyne has on a couple of occasions of late. Doesn't get forward as much perhaps but positionally better. I know JC doesn't want to play at RB but it's a distinct possibility.

Yoshida for me, shaky start, played out of position but looked excellent since, was immense against QPR away and again showed his class against Arsenal. He has made a world of difference to Fonte IMO, who I can't include in this list as he was very poor at the start.

Then Shaw, Cork and Lambert in no particular order.

Morgan was the best player at the start but has faded a bit and he 'does a nasri' when trying to block a shot which annoys me.

Puncheon is still too up and down as well and is too one dimensional

Lallana has looked dangerous but needs more goals.

For me:

First would be Luke Shaw - from nowhere to certain starter at left back and coveted by the top 4 even more now he has shown he CAN play in the EPL.

Second would be Morgan and Cork equally, both showing consistent class and ability at EPL level.

Third would be Puncheon - most improved player for sure.

Fourth would be Yoshida and Clyne, progressively improving.

Cork for me. But the fact that there are so many diverse nominations speaks volumes of how far we've come this season. Surprising that Lallana and Ramirez are hardly mentioned, but testament to the solid contribution that has been made by midfielders and defenders who have made us harder to beat or who provide the ammunition for us to score goals.

Can you blame him? He could die if one of those shots hits him in the head.

Thought Cork was class at RB but we did miss his energy in midfield to a certain extent.

Yoshida. It was clearly difficult to settle in but it shows true steel to improve the way he has particularly bearing in mind some of the results we have had to endure.

It depends what you're looking for:

Most valuable player (on the pitch but not in money terms): Cork

Hardest working player: Morgan

Most improved player: Puncheon

Best technical player: Ramierez

Best youngster: Shaw

Player I'd most miss if he left: Lambert

Player I most hope stays: Shaw

Lambert, Lallana, Cork, and Spiderman always looked looked like potential PL players - their success really should come as no big surprise to anyone on here. Fonte however I would describe as a borderline case - a pretty dodgy start for sure, but now looking every inch the accomplished PL defender I hoped he'd become.

For that reason he just pips Morgan for player of the Season for me - but ask me again in May.

Cork.

Since his return from injury we have looked a fer better side

This, most definitely.

But have also been very impressed by Morgan.

Puncheon for me. Fair to say a year ago I'd have laughed at the idea

If Cork had started the season then he'd be very close, but he's missed half the season so far. If he keeps his performances up for the rest of the season then he'll probably get my vote.
