The Kraken Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Only a matter of time. QPR are nowhere near as bad a team as their position would indicate, and 'Arry will get them together. They'll also spend a fortune this month, I think they'll stay up comfortably. And if we're going to stay up we should only rely upon ourselves and not get all emotional with what happens between other teams. If we can't finish the season with more points than sides like Reading, Villa and Wigan then we don't deserve to stay up.
Thedelldays Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Yep. Just like when Villa spanked Liverpool in their own back yard, that kick started a run of 5 straight wins for Villa and moved them well clear of the relegation zone. yet still above us
Jonnyboy Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Feckin knew it after saggychops was being played on the radio all day saying anyone could manage chelsea ffs.
Saint_clark Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 But they are beating Chelsea! Weird game is football, and that is why I am closing my betting account. What is the point. I won £60 after betting on QPR at 12-1 when it was still 0-0. Swings and roundabouts.
James Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 every team that stays up will have to beat a top 4 side...at least once What a load of crap.
kpturner Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 ****, the likes of Sunderland, Norwich etc beating Man C, Arsenal etc. ****'s sake, we should have won yesterday, we never seem to get a shock win, this is disastrous. Disastrous!! some serious bed wetting there!
badgerx16 Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Very bad result for Saints. Very. Don't see that - QPR are still bottom and their next 3 PL matches are Spurs (h), West Ham (a), and Man City (h). They are quite capable of getting 0 points from those games. We are 5 points above them with a superior GD, and they still have to visit SMS - we are in control.
Saints foreva Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 According to the experts on this forum, QPR are already down so why do we care about that result?

Jonnyboy Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 I need chelsea to win to bag myself £95 on my accy. come on Oops!
badgerx16 Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 According to the experts on this forum, QPR are already down so why do we care about that result? According to some, so are Saints !!!
Guan 2.0 Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 We will suffer the backlash at the weekend...great! In the cup? Careface Let's be realistic here: the newcastle and sunderland results are far more important to us. Neither are 'too big to go down' and we're now in a postion to climb up the table by dragging other teams below us. I doubt our coaching sessions consist of wetting our knickers over the results over a freak result for the bottom team.
Saint Charlie Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 if we had just beaten chelsea at the bridge from where QPR are right now....we would be going on about how there are plenty of games left, a transfer window and we can build on this....that puts them back into touching distance with loads of games left... every team that stays up will have to beat a top 4 side...at least once Wigan have spent 8 years in the Prem now and only got their first win against a top 4 team last season. Good win for QPR but we are effectively 6 points ahead of them.
badgerx16 Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 and quite capable of getting 9, if they can go to chelsea and win... As are we.
Thedelldays Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 What a load of crap. is that not true..? if we are to stay up...we are going to have to now......going to be interesting
Thedelldays Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Wigan have spent 8 years in the Prem now and only got their first win against a top 4 team last season. Good win for QPR but we are effectively 6 points ahead of them. they beat arsenal the year before that for a start

And if we're going to stay up we should only rely upon ourselves and not get all emotional with what happens between other teams. If we can't finish the season with more points than sides like Reading, Villa and Wigan then we don't deserve to stay up. Yes, spot on. QPR were always going to improve with 'Arry organizing them; they have too many quality players to be at the foot of the table. The QPR players look like they are playing for each other now, so different from the approach under Hughes' tenure. Mind you if Chelsea play so meekly when we visit for the postponed fixture then we might get something out of the game too.
badgerx16 Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 is that not true..? if we are to stay up...we are going to have to now......going to be interesting To get to 36 points we could manage with 5 wins and 3 draws, to get to 40 we would need 6 wins and 4 draws, so we don't have to beat a 'top 4' team'.
saintmatt Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 it is disastourous...it really is...whiilst we cant hold a lead..this was a gimme for chelsea...all of us down there will go there and get soundly beaten..they will probably beat us sat at a stroll..but tonight...ffs We've held on for 3 points (and a point) more times than QPR this season, hence why we're five points clear of them with a (seemingly winnable) game in hand. Moron.
Thedelldays Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 To get to 36 points we could manage with 5 wins and 3 draws, to get to 40 we would need 6 wins and 4 draws, so we don't have to beat a 'top 4' team'. that puts massive pressure on our away games. (where we are not very good) and home games against lesser teams...which just does not happen.. we can do it...we probably should have yesterday....but we will probably have to beat one of them.....I know the maths say otherwise but it does not always work like that
Saint Charlie Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 they beat arsenal the year before that for a start Was their first win versus a top 4 team. They stayed up 5 years without winning one of those fixtures. You said you have to win at least one. Usual bed wetting ******** from you.
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 It's incredible that despite the fact QPR have been woeful this season and are still 5 behind us, even after this shock win at Chelsea, that most on this forum are saying that we are doomed. The facts say otherwise at the moment.
Dr Who? Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Makes things even more interesting that's for sure.
Lighthouse Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 yet still above us Not the point. When you can win at Anfield then lose your next 3 games 15-0 on aggregate one result isn't the be all and end all. If QPR had beaten West Brom 1-0 the other week and lost 2-1 tonight nobody would have given a flying f**k. Swap the results around and suddenly it's 'disaterous' even though the table is exactly the same. If they go and get 7 points from their next 3 games, THEN I will be concerned about them. Until then, meh.
Thedelldays Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Was their first win versus a top 4 team. They stayed up 5 years without winning one of those fixtures. You said you have to win at least one. Usual bed wetting ******** from you. calm down.....just saying that after our distorted home games...getting 3 points from wigan, sunderland, norwich, fulham and swansea..puts massive pressure to turn over chelsea, liverpool, man city at ours... looking at last season, QPR and wigan both did (as a recent comparison as you can get) just an opinion..jesus
James Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 that puts massive pressure on our away games. (where we are not very good) and home games against lesser teams...which just does not happen.. we can do it...we probably should have yesterday....but we will probably have to beat one of them.....I know the maths say otherwise but it does not always work like that You sir have unfortunately lost the plot. QPR have gained a great win tonight but they are still 2 wins from us and we have a game in hand. Their win tonight makes absolutely no difference to our ability to win our remaining games.
CB Fry Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 According to the experts on this forum, QPR are already down so why do we care about that result? I'm an expert on this and I say QPR are down already. Too much to do and they need Euro-form to stay up. Stop panicking everyone. I have spoken.
CanadaSaint Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Only a matter of time. QPR are nowhere near as bad a team as their position would indicate, and 'Arry will get them together. They'll also spend a fortune this month I agree with all of that but I think the mountain might be too big for them to climb. The good thing is that there's no shortage of relegation candidates this year, and Newcastle are about to move solidly into the mix, especially if/when they lose Ba. I've already restructured the "strugglers table" twice and probably need to do it again.

Crazy Diamond Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Said on another thread that you write QPR and Reading off at your peril. Told you so.
Saint Charlie Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 calm down.....just saying that after our distorted home games...getting 3 points from wigan, sunderland, norwich, fulham and swansea..puts massive pressure to turn over chelsea, liverpool, man city at ours... looking at last season, QPR and wigan both did (as a recent comparison as you can get) just an opinion..jesus I'm calm. You are the one who called this a 'disastrous result'.
trousers Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 The good news is that our game in hand is now against a team that QPR beat #warpedlogic
Guan 2.0 Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Can someone buy this as an early new years pressie for the forum? Ta.
Dig Dig Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 QPR will now get smashed in their next game. FACT!
NickG Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Don't think there's any point worrying about Newcastle. They'll be fine. Newcastle have lost 5 out of the last 6 games. The only victory was a 1-0 home against QPR. They have conceded 18 goals in the last 6 games. They are only 2 points ahead of us with a worse goal difference. Remember how poor our results / goal difference was for the first 1/4 of the season. They have just lost their best player (radio tonight described Ba as their best / most influential player in 10 years) Their next 3 games are against struggling teams, if they lose any / many of them they are in for a relegation battle for the season. Also think Norwich and West Ham are in danger of dropping bit further than they currently are.
Appy Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 QPR will now get smashed in their next game. FACT! And then Delldays won't post.
S-Clarke Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Well, I never saw that coming. Football is a weird game. One of my main frustrations this year, so far, has been our inability to get a shock win. We've come so close, but never quite made it. Think we'll need to get one before the seasons out if I'm honest.
badgerx16 Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Are people writing off our chances of ever beating the top teams at SMS ? We were an oustretched Guly away from beating Arsenal, and history provides plenty of examples from our previous PL tenure.
The Kraken Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 I agree with all of that but I think the mountain might be too big for them to climb. I've already restructured the "strugglers table" twice and probably need to do it again. March and April will be massive for them; 8 league games, and 7 of them against teams that occupy the current bottom 8 along with QPR. By then they should have bedded in some new signings and could well be well on their way to safety. That's how I see it anyway.

James Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 jesus...all I said was that was a disaster of a result really as I believe QPR have enough decent players to catch us....whether they will is a different manner.. our game in hand is at chelsea........ A) it's not a disaster at all. We are still 5 pts ahead B) our game in hand is against a team that just lost at home to the team that are bottom of the league. We could easily get something?
Thedelldays Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 A) it's not a disaster at all. Saint Charlie Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 Way to secure staying up is to finish above Wigan, Villa and Reading. Then what QPR do or don't do is irrelevant. One result doesn't turn a poor team into a good one.
James Posted 2 January, 2013 Posted 2 January, 2013 get something..maybe..easily, no way these results at the bridge, eithad, OT dont happen often Exactly, which is why it's a freak result and exactly why it doesnt turn QPR into the all conquering team that are now certain to catch us up that you seem to have concocted.
