When I was a kid I always craved a pair of Gola boots, but because we were not loaded I had to put up with a pair of Winfield specials.........................................Eventually when I was about 10 my mum bought me a pair of Adidas & I thought I was the king of the world. My dad still does not know how much mum paid for those boots!!!!

I had some Golas, my first screw in stud boots. Remember flashing them to the assembled masses in the changing rooms at Taunton's sports ground up Stoneham Lane. Scored in my first game with them as well, toe punt IIRC, ouch, soon learnt not to toe punt any more.

Why don't all the players just wear these?

It would probably also stop the players from messing about with the ball, passing back all the time and mightr encourage them to get it forward to Rickee. FFS.

Ramirez was wearing those when he first signed for us, albeit the updated version, not in a kids' size like your picture, and in blue. These have a mixed sole plate which are fairly atypical :

He's since changed from Tiempos to Vapor VIIIs :

This is what you need for that

I remember playing in boots like these when a stud was usually lost after each match. I was then given a pair of Manfield Hotspur Continentals where the sales pitch was that you had much more freedom of the ankle movement. I think these changed the style of boots forever.

All this soft ground/hard ground configuration is bullsh*t.

Soft ground, 6 screw in studs, 2 at the back longer. If really soft put longer studs in.

Hard ground, moulded boots, and not that Blade sh*t.

Good enough in my day, and we didn't slip like we were playing on ice. If I was Adkins, I'd sort it out.

I hated playing in studs due to the inevitable screw pressure blisters in all conditions. Have worn FG boots (usually blades) in all conditions since 98 and have never had any kind of problem with slipping that wasn't directly caused by a design defect. Studs and blades are equally useless in a quagmire because studs hold mud on the boot causing grip loss, and blades don't dig in as much.

St Mary's was fine in blades when I played there too...
