Rumour - West Ham to bid for Rickie Lambert

Ian 'Moose' Abrahams for talkSPORT:

"I am hearing West Ham could be about to make a bid imminently for a Premier League striker - more as and when I get it"

"The name of the player in question is Rickie Lambert - lets see what happens. Separately I've heard 2 Prem clubs interested in @Grantholt31"

Obviously this is from the Moose, the man who seems to get an awful lot wrong - but he does have contacts at West Ham. Or thinks he does.

Anyone remember the debacles where he was told he was making lies by the Palace owner/chairman, by West Brom's official Twitter and by a Tranmere player?

Can't see it at all, although I can see West Ham trying it on.

Those criticising Mr Abrahams, if I'm not mistaken, he called the Carroll to West Ham transfer long before it happened, was a good week before the original deal (which then stalled) became public knowledge. He isn't all just hot air. It's been doing the rounds on the internet for the past few weeks now.

I don't think Lambert will leave in January, but every player has their price, and if the right amount of money is offered, I'd sell anyone

Every Saints player has a price. If anyone bid 10m for Lambert I am pretty sure we would take it. Not saying that is what I would want to happen, but every price, including Messi, has a price.

And i bet Stoke would take half that £10m for either Crouch or Jones. Again, not saying I want either, but we could get a short term replacement.

so if a club offered £15m-£20m for him you wouldn't accept it?? We could replace Lambert

Don't think you've understood.... Because of lamberts age, no club will be bidding more than a few million which wouldn't be appealing to us because of how important he is for us

They aren't reliant, but all clubs have best players don't they. Rodriguez could do a good job, but clearly saints have more chance of staying up with Lambert here and playing.

Then I don't understand the comments about certain relegation without Lambert. He is one of our best players for sure, which means we should not sell him, but that doesn't mean we would be relegated without him.

It's the Moose.

He is the most partisan and unprofessional journalist this side of Neil Allen.

He would make a mountain out of the merest molehill as far as West Ham are concerned. I wouldn't worry.

THIS. So biased its stupid. He doesn't even try to hide it. He's the pundit everyone expected Gary Neville to be

I don't agree....What price is Messi worth to Barcelona? The income generated by him alone makes it a very big price...However to sell the best player in the world means they would be admitting the club that bought him are bigger and better than Barcelona, therefore at the moment there is no price worth selling at for Barcelona. In effect he hasn't got a price.

As for us the £10m for example is only a good price if we have a better chance of staying up without him than with him, otherwise in the long run it could cost us a lot more than that. EG Ramirez, J Rod, Clynne, Morgan, Cork who would get offers the minute we went down and we would struggle to hold on to them.

What do these people have for mindset?.- Sell Lambert...or Shaw?

Mirror /Sun " hacks" who think we will bow down in obedience to the "so-called big clubs" (already steeped in big debts), who think they can do a deal by waving a million or two in our direction.

I suppose It's understandable if it's some amateur journo, but if that's really Big Sam's thinking, then he's more daft than I thought.

Seems incredible to me, last season Wet Sham were colleting strikers like they were Panini stickers. Where have they all gone? Why on earth would Rickie go to them anyway? If he really wanted to leave (which I doubt) he could choose better i think.

I think the only club that would A. at a stetch realistically bid for him and B. he would go to is Liverpool.

None of Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Everton, Spurs etc would bid, the rest of the prem is a much of a muchness I think to Lambert.

Also his age would prevent us getting anything close to what he is worth to us.

No way this will happen.

Lambert will not leave in the transfer window, but may do in the summer I think.

Would put us in the world of do do....

The summer may well be the time to move on. He has served his purpose fantastically well, getting two promos and hopefully keeping us up. He may well want a last (and probably only) pay day and we will then invest in the future. I would imagine it would be him taking the pay rise rather than us shifting him though.
