What a match. Just got back to Coventry.

That first half. Unbelievable. Cork, Morgan and Do Prado ran the show. We deserved to be ahead even if it did take some calamity defending.

Second half, we had worn ourselves out and Stoke needed a worldy to earn their share of the points.

True entertainment, a point I would have killed for before. Got my money's worth today.

To all of our lot who went today, well done on upstaging the loudest fans in the PL for much of the game.

In a game like that, support can make all the difference between buckling down and caving in.

Call me a masochist but I really enjoyed that. Does help that it's only 16 miles away.

If he had a player like Huth we'd effortlessly stay up.

Whilst Guly had a good game it was an absolute dolly he missed!

Disagree with last bit. He should've scored but it was an awkward height - certainly no dolly.

Kenwyne's miss on the other hand...

Enjoyed the game, but once Guly missed to make it 4-1 you could sense it coming. Anyone who says they don't hoof it are talking absolute rubbish!

Jonesy and I looked at each other straight after the miss, looked at the clock and just knew.

Guly is going to get some pelters on here but other than the miss he had a pretty good game today, he defended well and really helped out at the back at set pieces.

Punch did well, JRod worked hard up front, in fact everyone worked hard and competed well. Deserved a point, imo, though maybe take draw was the fairest result.

Shame Nige didn't make a change up front to stretch them and try to hit them on the break for the last 20 mind, but hey ho.

Oh. The first half was Guly's best spell in a Saints shirt. Him, Morgan and Cork ran the show.... and themselves into the ground.

MOM for me was Guly.A close second Yashida. He gets better with every game and is not afraid to get stuck in.Don't knock Guly for his miss.It happens.

No lambert was motd. Had a hand in all 3 goals put j rod through for potential fourth Nd held ball up better than rest in the words of merson

Nice to hear from those who were there rather than from the angry pussy whipped erectile disfunctioning set of middle aged tosspots who spout their usual bile on this site. A very good point earned by a team who are working their nuts off at the moment.

Decided to go today on a whim this morning, got there with a minute to spare and was without the best decision of my Xmas so far.

Fantastic away support assisted by the lads on the park keeping the home fans quiet (Christ they were loud when they did go for it!). MOM for me was Jack Cork or Yoshida, both were tireless and tackled well.

Great performance, shame it's only a point but onwards and upwards! COYR!

Would have taken a point pre match but can't help but feel gutted that the game was won if Guly had scored that open goal at 3-1.

Feel for him a bit as he was outstanding the first half but the helmets who boo him who weren't at the game will reflect only on the miss.

What sort of aircraft is this .....whim... you speak of? ;)

I too thought the Saints away support sounded great:)

Cork and Schneiderlin worked tirelessly today as did J Rod who had his best game for us I think. Excellent spirit to go to the Britannia and try to deal with their aerial bombardment, no other way to describe it. Cracking atmosphere and a terrific game, really enjoyed it.

Gutting after being 3-1 up but as plenty have said we would have taken a point. So annoying that Jerome pops up with a goal like that when he's not exactly known for those! Quality in the first half with Guly in particular really good. The miss was pretty bad but only thing he may point to was that it came at him at reasonable pace and an awkward height.

Stoke really are as long ball as their critics say they are but to be fair their fans were easily the loudest from the aways I've been to this season.

Don't see how. Can barely remember 5 times we properly got going all game.

Well since I live in Staffordshire and know plenty of clayhead season ticket holders who were quick to text I guess they have a different perspective.

Don't think our support today was a patch on the 2nd half at Fulham. Stoke were the loudest opposition fans we've seen this season.

Thought we played very well. Their last 2 goals we couldn't have done much about. Especially that third. That was a top finish. We deserved more than a point but that's more than I expected. Impressed by: Guly, JRod and Yoshida. Thought Lambert was top class as well today. I don't feel that anyone is to blame for that 3rd and us only taking a point as sometimes you just have to say it was a great goal and not down to a mistake.

That's not hard to be fair. I've been to Fulham, west ham, arsenal, Liverpool, QPR, Everton, and they've all been absolutely silent.

It's quite nice to just step back as say.....'we couldn't have done anything about that, top finish'!

Said this on other threads, but since we have sorted ourselves out after the terrible start to the season, I am really enjoying competing at the top. You know what, I think we are going to be ok, bring on 2013! More of the same please.

To be fair, I've done every away game for the last few years and they're probably the best we've seen that I can think of.

Yep, definitely. Thought Huddersfield were good a couple of years ago and Leeds are generally pretty decent too.

Well I watched it on stream and support sounded really good. Just after Stoke got their equaliser all you could hear was a loud OWTSGMI.

To be fair to Guly, he put in a great shift today, and that's exactly why he was picked to start. Was very impressed.

With Lallana out, he's not a bad shout to continue there. Playing out of his normal position, also special mention to Yoshida who was not out fought, gave as good as he got and was pretty comfortable. Seems to be getting better, week upon week. I haven't been 100% convinced by him, but today's game has answered a lot of questions I had.

Great game! Thought Lambert was brilliant, despite being manhandled throughout with no protection from the officials. Guly was strong all over the pitch, one of his best performances in a long time...I don't blame him entirely for his miss as Jay Rod should have put away the first chance. Defence looked solid despite some of the most obvious long ball I've seen since West Ham last season. I'm not 100% sure about KD in goal, and as the game went on we were getting increasingly bullied off the ball in midfield. Stoke deserved an equaliser on the balance of play and it was fairly obviously coming...great strike to nick a point.

Overall, great day out.

Stoke fans don't seem to impressed with our support on their forum.

Also that's the most long ball I've seen us play in a very long time. Worked in the first half but I can't help feeling we wouldn't have scored the 3 first half goals if they didn't have Shawcross and Cameron out.

Really ? They only made any noise when they came back to 2 - 3. I have to say that when they get going at least the whole ground sings, but it doesn't happen very often. I remember Blackpool away 4 years ago that seemed louder to me but again only for short bursts.

Just back - one word sums up our performance although we lacked it.......... "composure" and that is why we only had one point instead of 3: More composure with Guly's miss and Jay Rod's wild over hit cross to Lambert would have delivered.

In a local pub after the game the Stoke fans said they were impressed with our support.

Posted

Having said that, despite their fans being loud, they carried on the theme of having a chip on their shoulder as a hard done by side with the authorities against them, crying about every decision from the officials.

Really? So the only other one you can think of is Blackpool, 4 years ago - which sort of proves my point.

They do seem to have the mentality that the whole world is against them, similar to Liverpool.

That was stoke singing 'oh when the reds'.

Re Guly's miss: I tell you now. Had the ball ended in the net, then the ex pros on MOTD tonight would be telling you just what a difficult skill that is to do. Alas, it was off target and the forum posters can use the missed chance as another stick to beat him with.

FWIW, I was more disappointed with the initial shot from Rodriguez, which was right at Begovic, when either side would have made Guly's chance irrelevant.

Posted

It's that mentality that keeps them up. They have an ethos of "club, players, fans" that seriously binds them together.

The fans understand that it's their job to make the Britannia as intimidating as possible and the players are made fully aware, by the fans, that the represent "them" and the club really is at the heart of the community.

Pure speculation - move on.

I'm suprised by the amount they left out from the match of the day highlights. Didn't show their offside goal or the moment when their player threw the physio's bag off the pitch! Looks like we were a bit fortunate with the fonte handball decision.
