Stepgar Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Really don't know what to think about this game. Arsenal seem to have got a bit of form and we are a mixed bag right now. I think it would definately take a point right now. Big question is what changes would you make assuming AL is fit agin.

S-Clarke Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Arsenal are an odd team, you can never really say what Arsenal will turn up. The Bradford result is a fine example. Take the game to them, put them under pressure, and they will buckle. Goals in this for sure - probably for both!
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 (edited) I think we can get at least a draw and are capable of a win. A point wouldn't be disastrous if you look at who the teams around us are playing: Swansea V Aston Villa Tottenham V Reading Wigan V Man United Chelsea V QPR And better include Newcastle V Everton. Saint Garrett Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Jesus Christ just seen the Arsenal result. Take it to them and we have a chance, however if their front 4 click like they did at the emirates against us, can see them getting an easy win. Dr. Kucho Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Think this game will be hit or miss. Or we will win quite comfortably or get thrashed, this wont be a draw. If we let Arsenal play their own game they will finish us, so think we should pass the ball around and play players with a bit of pace. Has anyone heard any rumours how Lallana is getting on? MOSaint Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Hopefully the team will have learned from the away game and we try to close down their midfield 3 rather than backing off all game and allowing them to pick out killer passes at will. If we can make it scrappy in midfield we can get something out of the game.
SNSUN Posted 30 December, 2012 Share Posted 30 December, 2012 From Sunderland, Fulham, Stoke and Arsenal I would have taken 4 points. 3 points after the Arsenal game would do. A point would be a good result on Tuesday, but I can't see it. Just a good performance on Sky please.

Saint Fan CaM Posted 30 December, 2012 Share Posted 30 December, 2012 We need to bully them and that means midfield 3 being completely on top of their game - anything less and we'll be toast. Mind you, it's going to take a real miracle to come away with any points from this game. They outclass us all over the pitch and play in a similar fashion with that quality - i.e. keep ball. Chances are going to be very few and far between which means clinical finishing. Oh well. Mmm, probably 1-5 or similar.

egg Posted 30 December, 2012 Share Posted 30 December, 2012 I don't fancy NA having to pick a team after yesterday. Guly, JR, RL would all feel hard done by if dropped but I think it's nailed on that we'll revert to 4231 with GR in the team and probably in the hole. I said before yesterdays game that we'll compete and I think tomorrow will be close. NA has wised up tactically and he won't play into their hands like we did at at their place. 2-

Saw some of the Arse-Toon game yesterday, most of it in fact, thought Newcastle were absolute junk in midfield and gifted Arsenal numerous free balls. Tiote was the prime offender, probably just dreaming him way to the ANC. Obertan however gave Sagna a pretty torrid time down the left for a while perhaps we could do that as well. Someone needs to get a grip on Wilshere, wind him up a bit, he'll get sent off if we do that, plays on Cork's side usually so that's his job then. rooney Posted 30 December, 2012 Share Posted 30 December, 2012 NA picked a tactically correct Team for Stoke to start but then spoilt it when 3-1 up against 10 men, by bringing on defenders when we had pace on the bench which would have done very nicely against a tired side. I only hope he gets it right against the Arse especially with OXO and Theo in the side and their parents in the Itchen.

Reckon GR was very doubtful myself, bench filler only to be played in dire necessity and I'm getting the impression that NA only played Mayuka a couple of games back under duress. Seems we have a couple of players that NA doesn't want here and he's determined to have nothing to do with him whilst he's picking the side. In my opinion he'll be gone if we get beaten on Tuesday anyway but I'm hopeful that we won't. Edited 30 December, 2012 by Window Cleaner

No doubt earning a shedload as well not to mention working with some of the best coaches in the land. Can't see anything ill advised about any of that. In fact I'd say to any of our players who get a decent offer from a top 10 side to go for it. Then again as most will know I'm not over impressed by what I see of our coaching. Saint Charlie Posted 30 December, 2012 Share Posted 30 December, 2012 Walcott and Chamberlain should both get good receptions. Both had the respect to come and clap the away fans at the Emirates and both have said how good their time was at Saints. Anyone who boos are probably the same wallies that boo our own players. Largely its a lack of intelligence I think.
Itchen_block4 Posted 30 December, 2012 Share Posted 30 December, 2012 -------------------Gazzaniga Richardson-----Fonte-----Yoshida-----Fox ---------------Morgan-----Cork --------------------Ramirez Mayuka--------------------------------Guly -------------------Rodriguez Yes, I know. Lambert had a good game yesterday, but it's an inconvenient truth that he's not especially fit. Arsenal like to move the ball around and we'll need to run very hard to keep up with them. A player who will tire, drift out of the game and give the ball away lots after 60 minutes isn't the sort of player we want to start.
