Zlavik Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Kelvin looked really bad today. Had no control on the ball and everytime he went up for a duel he lost it.. Boruc next game please?
S-Clarke Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Very flappy, not the sort of GK you want against the aerial bombardment that is Stoke. We were lucky we didn't lose that in the 2nd half. Not too confident with him.
DT Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 He had nothing in his legs with which to leap or get down quickly, and his reactions were very slow. It's age. Time for the knacker's yard (League 2)
Si the Saint Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Really poor on the 2nd goal. Should have saved it. Let stoke back in it. Agree let's see boruc for a run before the window opens.
Edmonton Saint Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Was a nightmare. Flapped and flapped and gave me no confidence whenever the ball was anywhere near him. But can't see Adkins dropping him. Our goalies have already cost us lots of points this season and he has done nothing about it.
Crab Lungs Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 He's not a Premier League keeper, it's simple. We've got someone who was once touted as one of the world's best goalkeepers sitting on the bench. Use him, ffs.
JackFrost Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Can't see why anyone thinks he's better than Gazzaniga. NA must have one good reason for keeping Boruc on the bench. A keeper in the window is a must.
Mr X Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 like someone said on here if we don't sort the goalkeeper position out in Jan I can see it single handedly costing us our premiership status

ProDirectSaints Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 He looked bad in the last game too. He is a half-second too slow reacting, nearly gives me a heart attack whenever the box is in the 6-yard box. Also he can't seem to hang on to the ball, nor punch it! There were at least 2-3 corners which Stoke could easily have scored had we not had a defender in the way, due to his crazy positioning on the corner

madruss Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Agree with this, he was absolutely woeful: panicky, flappy and nervous, it's no surprise that the back line was in a state of panic with him behind them. If Boruc really isn't the answer, then we need a new keeper as a priority in January
DJ_TOAST Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 To be fair that save at the end he could have easily flapped for us to loose so that was something decent.

S-Clarke Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 not really sure how you could say that about Boruc..not done a great deal wrong I'm also confused about the reputation Boruc has got. Simply, it just seems to have stemmed from the altercation he had with our fans??? Because when he palyed, he didn't do much wrong. Not sure why he doesn't play. Saints foreva Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Davis is never going to make it as a Premier League goalkeeper, he was terrible at this level for Sunderland - Some of their fans even rate him as the worst keeper they've ever seen. He hasn't been that great this season, beaten at his near post a number of times and is so slow to get down to shots.
ART Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Adkins biggest mistake was not subbing Kelvin when he got an injury. Already it was clear Davis was losing it and the injury would have been the diplomatic way to bring him off. Kalamity Kelvin lost us the 2 points together with the latest Adkins losing the plot substitutions. So so

CanadaSaint Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 I'm not a big fan of Kelvin (as a keeper) but I'm not going to rag on him today. There's a lot of people posting who have absolutely zero idea of what it's like to be a keeper when you have four big guys piling into your six-yard box trying to get on the end of a high ball, as well as a bunch of your own guys trying to get back there as well. Stoke are excellent deliverers, whether it's by foot or throw, and they're great at hitting the "soft spot" between the keeper and the back four. Yes, we need a quality keeper but let's not just keep whacking Davis just because he's an easy target for abuse.

Chez Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Can't see why anyone thinks he's better than Gazzaniga. you must have the shortest memory in the history of football. Gazza lost his confidence completely after some terrible performances and in the end was a complete liability. He was a busted flush. The Norwich game is right up there with Ian Andrews at QPR as one of the worst displays I have ever seen from a Saints keeper. Thank god NA dropped him. Davis struggled to deal with Stoke's giants. Check out their goals over the last few seasons and see how keepers struggled in exactly the same way.

I can't make a judgement on Boruc, but the fact that he hasn't claimed the jersey speaks volumes. Our keepers have been a liability this season. We need to sign someone soon, otherwise they'll continue to cost us points.

Dr Who? Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 I would stick with kelvin until we get a new keeper in January. I feel that Arsenal at home and maybe Chelsea in the cup, will be the last time he plays for us. Boruc is not fit, but sure Nigel is working on it! MOSaint Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Odd to want a 4th keeper when we signed one most didn't think we had a hope of getting and he hasn't had a run in the team yet. If Boruc isn't being given another go now despite the poor performances of Davis/Gazzaniga and the numerous goals their mistakes have cost us, you have to wonder if the club has any intention of using him again. Alain Perrin Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Just watched the highlights on the ESPN app, shocker for their second. The goalkeeping situation is going to cost us our prem status if it hasn't already ! Sorry that just isn't true,. He was blinded for the second and it went through someone's legs. Many a keeper would let that in - and those that didn't would have just got lucky. I don't think he's the best keeper in the Premiership and agree he doesn't control his box well, but many a team has struggled against the strength of Stoke up front - that's what they're good at. pingwing Posted 29 December, 2012 Share Posted 29 December, 2012 Kelvin had 2 jobs today, make easy saves and control the tempo through his distribution. He did neither. Even Gazza could sodding well take his time properly over a kick and put it to the right player (bar that Swansea moment). Our weakest player today was Kelvin because does not do what any good keeper has to do and command the team around him. Thankfully that is the last game out the way before we can get someone new in (if we are not going to wack Boruc or Gazza back in) as this is the one area we can't seem to train anyone out of the problem.
