now we are half way through the season...what are your predictions for relegations and promotionI think the 3 that will go down are QPR, Reading and (sadly) Saints...please love to be proven wrongI think the 3 that will come up...Cardiff, palace and boro

My idea (for Saints) was survival.... and in the bottom half (at best). Looks like QPR and Reading and ...Villa?.....or Wigan?. Really don't think Newcastle can fall so low.....

Championship sides ?...maybe Palace, dont think Boro have got the depth...Cardiff have fallen at the final hurdle several times before...if Mc Gleish doesn't screw up O'Driscoll's hard work.(why did they sack him?)..I'd have them down for a spot.

If we continue to play like we're doing atm we will go down, we don't have depth in our squad. QPR will buy their way out of it, Reading + Saints then Wigan or Newcastle for me.

We need a reshuffle in our striking options, lambo isn't doing it, JRod is not worth his transfer value and leaves the untried Lee, i'm not even going to say that so called Brazilian's name. Ramirez needs to go back to the position he does well in (playmaker midfielder) and we need someone like Matty Phillips who can play either side of midfield so we have cover when Lallana or Punch is injured.

Saints, Wigan, Reading.

'Arry is going to spend a fortune in January, and they're only 2 wins off safety already. Plus QPR have already got a number of decent players, they're not quite as sh*te as their results to date suggest.

But if we sign a dominant centre back and a first choice winger who can replace Lallana while out and challenge/usurp Puncheon when we have everyone fit, we'll stay up and Villa will go down.

what worries me...is I think we have blown our home games so to speak..

played - wigan, sunderland, swansea, norwich and fulham at home and pick up 3 points is terrible...our away form is utterly terrible with that..

I think reading will put up a fight..they have to play pretty much all the teams around them at home...

QPR, Reading and Saints.

QPR will improve but they have too much to do with some tricky home fixtures left. Reading have some decent home fixtures but I don't think they are good enough to put enough teams to the sword.I think Wigan will edge it over us because they have more 'winnable' home games left.

If we invest in the transfer window we have a decent chance though. A top keeper is a must if we are to have any chance.

I still think we're going down, but at least with the pre-Christmas form we've given ourselves a bit of hope. More away fixtures than home, and the continued absence of Lallana will hurt us though. We need to pick up some unexpected wins. Strengthening the team wisely in the window is key.

Reading will be bottom, then it's two of us, QPR, Wigan, Villa and a surprise team like Newcastle, Fulham or West Ham IMO.

I think it will definately go down to the last game of the season,I don't think Harry will save QPR,I think reading will get a new boss in the next few weeks and will pick up a bit of form and I would like to see villa in the mix a bit more but our chances of staying up are not as good as some think.

We will see how serious NC is about staying up depending on the business that is conducted in January, the first thing I would do is get Luke shaw on a decent contract and give puncheon the deal he deserves.

There's still far too long to go yet to have any confidence but I do think we'll be in the mix come the last day.

Of the teams immediately around us Reading have a good '2nd half of the season' track record (as we know only too well), Harry will look to make some big changes to QPR so expect things to change there, Wigan are a tricky outfit that are well capable of escaping and Villa seem to blow hot and cold.

Also Newcastle could lose Denba Ba so the goals could be hard to come by for them and Fulham are in a big slump.

I also wouldn't rule out one of L'Pool, Wham or Norwich having a bad run and getting sucked in.

If I had to put money on it I'd say Reading and Villa and any 1 from the rest (including us).

Still think...

Safe before end of season

Still got funny feeling, as had all season, that we may well finish above west ham.

Really... I can't see us getting within ten point of West Ham. Relegation with Reading and Villa.

We'll be alright, all a bit too panicky on here.

We've turned into such a competitive PL team now (some people will disagree, but I think we're a different side to that which started the season). Bring on Arsenal, Villa and Everton. Points up for grabs there.

Need to spend in January to raise the 1st teams competency by 20% or face going down. Simple as that really. Too early right now to predict who will go down, however we will almost certainly be in the mix, as will the likes of Newcastle. Hold on to your hats people, it's going to be a rough landing.

Can you do a thread about changing your score prediction during a game...like predicting a 3 -1 loss

Reading almost certainly.

I

QPR probably.

Then one of us, Wigan, Villa and Fulham. On present form, Villa look a good tip for the drop.

This, though I would include Newcastle in the final list of possibles. Given current form and January spending power (guesswork, obviously) I think villa and Fulham have probably more to be concerned about, but I wouldn't say I'm brimming with confidence!

Newcastle are only 3 points ahead of us and showing no signs of improvement. Their midfield is weak without Cabaye and they are likely to lose Ba in Jan. Could be trouble for Pardew and the toon.

They lose a couple of players in January to the AFCON as well. Off the top of my head, Tiote (edit - forgot Senegal were disqualified)....and that's adding to the injurys they have to Ben Arfa, Cabye etc.

They're in trouble, that's for sure.
