Davide Astori Southampton target?

I watch quite a bit of Italian football, have kept an eye out for Astori since our link last year.

He's played in 15 of Cagliari's 17 games so far, no goals and 1 assist. Not been a stand out in any game ive seen so far, id use the word "steady" to describe him.

Surprised he didnt move on in the summer as Cagliari were always going to be a lower/mid table side this season and this may cost him his place with Italy in the WC

I'm not too sure I agree with you mate. I went to see Cagliari v Torino when visiting friends in Sardinia last year. Although Cagliari won the match it was in-spite of him rather than due to him. He was awful, Cagliari won 4-3 but he was at fault for two of the goals, poor in the air, weak in the tackle gave away a penalty and then got sent off. He got run ragged by a very average Torino forward player and couldn't handle their big man up top who was flicking it on. I really don't think he'd cut it in the premier league. My Sardinian friends call him ' Il ciuccio' ' the ass' he's also been called the Italian Titus Bramble.

so not a glowing reference from someone who's actually seen him then. Mauricio said we weren't interested, that's good enough for me.

Reports coming out of France was Lovren was a bit of a dud player and look how that turned out

but that's wrong, he was a good player playing in a dud club with great expectations and a tea-boy manager. Last season Lyon were 3rd in the championship but this season they're about mid-table and look absolutely fokking awful. Aulas decides who's good and who's bad and the bad players are usually those he can get most money for and the good players are usually those who he pays the least.. Aulas is a knob on a par with Tan, he had absolutely no reason to sack Puel but he wanted better for less so he sacked Puel and got the tea boy in, took Puel about 3 years in the courts to get what he was owed.

Glasgow has watched him regularly, so I'd defer to his judgment on this one. True it's on the record GS wasn't convinced by the signing of Lovren but everyone has an off day.

Is it possible to watch Cagliari regularly in Glasgow, streams perhaps but it would seem like not a very likely thing to do to me.

I mean you'd need a reason to do that wouldn't you so perhaps Glasgow would like to enlarge on that for us. I mean I could look at whoscored and come up with the stats and stuff and give an opinion but that wouldn't be like actually seeing him in a stadium would it.

i gave my opinion on Lovren because I'd actually seen him play 5 or 6 times, it was far more accurate than most who believed crap written on OL websites.

The "idiot" is such a congenital liar, that I seriously doubt he has ever set foot in Glasgow. However, your point is well made.

well yes because I'm still waiting for an admission that he made many "friend requests" that he says he didn't make and that no-one had ever refused although loads of people had them sitting in abeyance to prove him wrong. I do feel that if he were proved to be so sparing with the truth again in such a way as he was deflecting every discussion away from any realistic basis then the admin would in fact have to do something about him.

Someone must also make a pile of commission selling stationary and office supplies to afford all those euro scouting trips.

A popular and well connected guy with friends all over the place. You should try it instead of jealously tapping away on mongboards. You'll need to get yourself a personality first though.

even so if you're quoted she can but see it. Ignore is a pointless function because quoting makes a post visible to all but those who have the quoter on ignore. It's just a gadget to make you think you have some control over what you see.

So she read my post anyway. Why would you do that if you have someone on ignore? Surely you'd see their name and move on.

Well in theory you could do that but then that would probably mean not reading the reply in question either because you wouldn't know to what it refers. Tis a silly function really. The only real ignore function on this forum is not to log in at all.

Just a bit odd that's all. Not only to read it but then to post reply to it commenting on it when she claims to have me on ignore. Its not like its the first time either. Bit odd if you ask me.

I wouldn't worry about it, in my idea there's no real reason to put anyone on ignore at all, it's a football forum, if you can't take a bit of joshing or a bit of utter foolishness then you'd best leave it alone. However some do make life tedious because it's what they set out to do but only a banning will solve that.

Nah, it's not joshing, and I did it some time ago when it was getting tiresomely like bullying, and that was my response. Utter foolishness I can put up with: never had Bearsy on ignore and even swapped some banter with him.;-) As it happens I think CB Fry is far more unpleasant than Turkish, who at least talks sense about football, even if his style is also unpleasantly belligerent but I can't be bothered to change it now, and it gives Turkish something to worry about. His response was amusingly inevitable.

Oh believe me Suzy, if you think I'm worried about it you've got an even greater sense of self importance than I thought you had.

I love how you've been to see every player we're linked with "while visiting friends in the area". I never had you down as being so popular Turks.

And each time, they've scored an own goal, got sent off, conceded a pen, missed a sitter, been subbed early etc etc, inviting comparisons with one donkey or another over here....

Side-splitting stuff,

Not at all. I take it you never saw the copy of the email I posted that I sent to tellrupert after seeing Schnidelin play for Strasbourg?

A psychiatrist or sociologist would have an absolute field day on this website.

They'd probably laugh at all the dinlows that take it all so seriously and scream and cry when they see something they don't like. Once they've picked themselves up off the floor they'd see it as symptomatic as the soft, pampered, me first generation of losers. The type of people that would quit university when the going got a little tough.

Did he singlehandedly win the game for Strasbourg? Even at that tender age, he carried the relegation-threatened team on his back, never letting the opposition's main playmaker out of his pocket. Was unlucky not to score the winner himself with a pile driver that crashed off the bar which you and your mate were convinced had crossed the line (later vindicated by replays) but managed to win a last minute penalty with a beautifully timed late run into box. Your friends from Strasbourg called him 'le schneider' which means 'tailor' in German because of his defence-splitting balls or the Alsace-Lorrainian Roy Keane and Paul Scholes at their prime etc etc.

Maybe I did see that one.
