Davide Astori Southampton target?

Regardless of the clause's with Milan to buy him back or Napoli supposedly interested there are two key factors here:

1. Milan have not got a pot to **** in and even if they could stump up the cash Italian clubs are well known for offering very little salary wise. (they're a few exceptions to this of course)

2. Both Astori and his agent have stated that his ambition is to come to the Premier League.

I wouldn't get to worried about the length of this deal. As others have said its now the norm it Italy to drag these deals out so the selling club can get the best deal possible. Cortese will know this, even more so from the Ramirez deal this summer. He isn't stupid and if things did get too ridiculous he is an intelligent business man and will know he needs to pull the plug.

In my opinion I think we will get our man but can't see it happening until the tail end of this window.

The real question here is do we wait and get the man we want or get somebody in sooner to fill the void left by Jose.

AC Milan sold Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva last summer to PSG for 60 million euros so yes they have money to do a deal

Well they also got huge debts and I think Berlusconi has taken those money back to his pocket rather than they are in the clubs bank account....

If it goes that long we are better looking elsewhere , We need a centre half now, to many points at stake before final day

Bit dramatic, Fonte and Yoshi have improved massively since early days of partnership. Not Astori quality but good enough

Doesn't sound like the kind of thing Cortese would stand for. Either take the money or stick it

If Cortese won't stand for other clubs bidding on players we are interested in then we'll never sign anyone unless they are so sh*t no one wants them.

According to Tancredi Palmeri on twitter, AC Milan are going to line up a bit for Ramirez in the summer. Could be interesting.

Will be gutted to lose him so soon, still hoping to keep him until 2014 where Uraguay will have a cracking WC IMO, then let him leave after. Clearly above our level at the moment, we would need to make some serious signings to keep him here. IF we stay up and interest is shown from G14 level clubs like Milan, his attitude (which up until now has been impeccable tbf) and our Chairmans actions will be very interesting.

Apparently we're going to up our bid to their asking price. 12 mil euro + 3 mil in bonuses, so 15million euros! or 12 million pounds in total. It's speculation, but comes from Italian press so I'm inclined to believe it more. Surely that'll be our limit. Milan wouldn't go that high with what they've already got.

It actually says that foreign press (UK) are reporting that we need to up our offer to beat off interest but doesnt say we will do that.

Basically nothing new.

The big bit inour favour. Is we have an italian leader. so we do not need interpreters to act as a go between.

NC knows his stuff. In NC we trust

I trust Nicola Cortese as much as I trust any banker, I would imagine a modern footballer looks at the City, club, clubs history, clubs future, money, sponsorship and endorsements over whether someone at the club speaks Italian.

Yoshida

Rodriguez

Mayuka

3 for a start, at best Yoshida is a squad player for a premeirship side, Rodriguez the same, its abvious Adkins agrees with me concerning Mayuka.

Yoshida is growing into a great little CB for me, his reading of the game is great and works V well with Fonte.

Rodriguez shows me flashes he will be a good player, he needs game time.

Mayuka ? Has a decent name for himself as up and coming player, looks lively, Ill reserve judgement but yeah concede its a little dissapointing.

Then you have Clyne who is fantastic and Ramirez who is or will be V soon easily our best player and arguably too good for us.

Ive read a few of your recent posts Bazza, 11.30 is a bit early to be on the sauce Dune.

He could grow into a great centreback in the championship, wheres is Mayuka? Game time for Rodriguez? Where will he play? Clyne is good but still young and needs competition, Ramirez is a good players but falls over a lot and has he been worth he transfer so far? No he needs time to bed in but we dont have time do we?

Well Milan seems to have some Cash after all...Graeme Bailey ‏@GraemeBailey

AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has admitted that Newcastle United's Davide Santon is on his radar. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8387055/Newcastle-United-s-Davide-Santon-admired-by-AC-Milan-owner-Silvio-Berlusconi

they've shipped out Pato and Robinho haven't they, plus all that folding they got from PSG for a couple of lightweights last year.

As I keep saying skintness in football is only relative.

They still have Robinho, trying to sell him back to Brazil but the deal broke down.

@Milanello: Sky reports that Milan are ready to offer €8.5m for @DavideAstori. Cagliari's president, Cellino, wants at least €15m.

@Milanello: The pact that Milan and Cagliari made for Astori was only valid if Milan wanted to buy him back within a year after he was sold. [sky].
