Crazy Diamond Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Football_Agent9 5:08pm via Web Was talks today between S'oton and Cagliari..this will probably drag on, think S'oton want to offer 8 but Cagliari want +5/6 in guarantees
Sour Mash Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 How reliable is Bleacher Report? "Cagliari's Davide Astori Rumoured to Have Agreed Move to Southampton" http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1468682-southampton-rumoured-to-have-agreed-deal-with-cagliaris-davide-santon Think it's been generally accepted for a while that the player has agreed terms, it's the negotiation on transfer fee between the clubs that is taking it's time.
jamesfp1 Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 (edited) When you're laid on the floor and your legs feeling sore, that's Astori.. When you're on the attack meet our big centre back, that's Astori.. Edited 8 January, 2013 by jamesfp1
Stepgar Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 When you're laid on the floor and your legs feeling sore, that's Astori.. When you're on the attack meet our big centre back, that's Astori.. Ha....brilliant tune to "That's Amore"
Ed Rooney Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 When you're laid on the floor and your legs feeling sore, that's Astori.. When you're on the attack meet our big centre back, that's Astori.. Love it
latter day saint Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 When you're laid on the floor and your legs feeling sore, that's Astori.. When you're on the attack meet our big centre back, that's Astori.. excellent! take a bow lad
Saint Garrett Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 When you're laid on the floor and your legs feeling sore, that's Astori.. When you're on the attack meet our big centre back, that's Astori.. Now we just need him to sign....
supergoose Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 When you're laid on the floor and your legs feeling sore, that's Astori.. When you're on the attack meet our big centre back, that's Astori.. Top quality!
Saint-Armstrong Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Tancredi Palmeri on Twitter: "Napoli contacted Cagliari for Astori. Still in stand-by the bid from Southampton"
Saints foreva Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I'd imagine he'd prefer to join Napoli over us.
Dig Dig Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I'd imagine he'd prefer to join Napoli over us. His agent said he'd like to play in the premier league. Don't under estimate the allure of the PL.
S-Clarke Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Tancredi Palmeri on Twitter: "Liverpool contacted Bologna for Ramirez. Still in stand-by the bid from Southampton" all you need to do is swap the names and clubs around, nothing is different.
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I seem to recall Tancredi Palmeri saying the same thing about Spurs contacting Bologna in the summer about Ramirez, after we were rumoured to be in talks over a deal. It's probably true but remember he's an Italian journalist and it gets attention. However, no one would be surprised if a bigger club came in for Astori.

It's probably true but remember he's an Italian journalist and it gets attention. However, no one would be surprised if a bigger club came in for Astori. Compared to us, I can't see an Italian club offering more than we are. Might sound far fetched, but there's no money over there anymore. The money and opportunities are abroad, which is why many of that leagues big names are moving away. You only have to have a look at the AC Milan squad to realise how weak that league has become. It's not the pull it once was.
buctootim Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 His agent said he'd like to play in the premier league. Don't under estimate the allure of the PL. Dont underestimate the allure of the PLs wages more like. I read somewhere Astori was on 10,000 euros pw at Cagliari. He'd get five times that or more here.
sfc4prem Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 When you're laid on the floor and your legs feeling sore, that's Astori.. When you're on the attack meet our big centre back, that's Astori.. Superb. He'll definitely sign now.
theyin Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 If HE prefers signing for us over Liverpool you know it's all about the money.
Olallana Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 If HE prefers signing for us over Liverpool you know it's all about the money. Yes, because we have met Cagliaris demands and Liverpool hasn´t....
Crazy Diamond Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Football Agent 9 or whatever just told me 'he'd be willing to join, I'm told.' So as usual, rumours about personal terms being agreed are balls, he's just 'willing to join.'
austsaint Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 When you're laid on the floor and your legs feeling sore, that's Astori.. When you're on the attack meet our big centre back, that's Astori.. James....that's top drawer stuff!!
Saint Garrett Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 By the sound of it he'd be willing to come, and would get a hefty payrise, however we havent yet agreed a deal with Cagliari. Sounds quite similar to a few deals where we basically want to pay so much, and want the player to basically go to his manager and say he wants to leave, forcing them to drop their asking price. Isn't this what happened with Matty Phillips but the Blackpool chairman was being a bell end ?!
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 It seems like another long transfer saga. Because of our obvious defensive frailties earlier in the season, I had hoped the club already had 'irons in the fire' in terms of signing a CB and lined someone up ready for the opening of the window.
theyin Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Yes, because we have met Cagliaris demands and Liverpool hasn´t.... Then given the lack of interest from elsewhere, I'd suggest we're paying too much. As I intimated, if HE decides to go for us over Liverpool then you know it's all about the money.

Crazy Diamond Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 It's dragged on has it? This is day eight of 31. If it was the final week of the window, I could understand. But right now? Please.
Dalek2003 Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 We need to get this one sorted out soon. For once it would be nice to show a bit of urgency instead of our usual fannying around.

We do have games in January though. It's not like everything stops for the window. The sooner the better for transfers because we need to get points, especially in games like Villa on Saturday which we go into without Fonte by the looks of it.

As I intimated, if HE decides to go for us over Liverpool then you know it's all about the money. Don't under estimate the influence of the Southampton Way DVD which they play to potential signings. It brainwashes them into thinking we are a big club with a stadium that will be expanded soon due to our massive die hard loyal support and will soon he sampling champions league football. How can you turn that down:)
Olallana Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Transfer Central @CentralTransfer Liverpool are said to be closing in on a deal for talented Lazio defender Modibo Diakite. (Metro) Have they given up on Astori perhaps....??
S-Clarke Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Half of these twitter transfer feeds are rubbish, so I'd ignore anything you see from them. Only worth paying attention to journos with validated accounts tbh.

Saint Garrett Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I've heard this Diakite deal from other places actually,
Saint-Armstrong Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Tancredi Palmeri: "Cagliari will put in stand-by both Napoli and Southampton according to Sky Italy, waiting for bid from Milan that would match the Saints one"
Thedelldays Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 i hope we have not put all our eggs in his basket....
EBS1980 Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Tancredi Palmeri: "Cagliari will put in stand-by both Napoli and Southampton according to Sky Italy, waiting for bid from Milan that would match the Saints one" If true surely Milan will win the race then. I'm sure we have other options though
itchen_dan Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 It seems that when Astori was sold to Cagliari from AC Milan, they included a buy-back clause - €8-10m. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gianlucadimarzio.com%2Fcalciomercato%2Fmilan-ce-un-patto-col-cagliari-per-astori-i-dettagli%2F Milan, there is a pact with Cagliari for Astori: details A pact to give Davide Astori Allegri. Cagliari defender really like the coach AC Milan, the Milan now try to take it all. The president Cellino try to resist, but there is a deal between the two companies, dating back to when there was the transfer to Cagliari entire card of the player. At that time, Milan snatched an agreement to which for 8 to 10 million could resume Astori, if he wanted to. A moral pact that Milan will claim in the negotiations, looking for a defender.

MOSaint Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Seems like Cagliari are trying to start an auction, our offer obviously isn't as much as they would like but where they need the money their only option is to try and draw another club into a bidding war. In the end it will boil down to which club will offer them the most money.
Saint Charlie Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Seems like Cagliari are trying to start an auction, our offer obviously isn't as much as they would like but where they need the money their only option is to try and draw another club into a bidding war. In the end it will boil down to which club will offer them the most money. Sounds like we will offer the most but Milan will try to use this buy back clause. When you are in for good players there is bound to be competition, its a sign they are coveted. Im sure we have a backup incase it cant be done, just like Sharp last Jan.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Yeah it is a case of wanting a better offer. As said by Jake Wuttz on another forum: "This house is on the market for 280,000, but we've already received several offers around the 278,000 mark, so you would need to match the asking price in order to ensure acquiring the house. I smell bull****."
Nexstar Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Tancredi Palmeri: "Cagliari will put in stand-by both Napoli and Southampton according to Sky Italy, waiting for bid from Milan that would match the Saints one" Doesn't sound like the kind of thing Cortese would stand for. Either take the money or stick it
Saint Charlie Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 As S Clarke has said many times, it is so similar to the Ramirez deal, trying to get other teams to bid...
SaintNeil90 Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Personally don't think we will be signing this guy.
Saint Charlie Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Tancredi Palmeri just said to me the clause is not a contractual one, just moral - so Cagliari will sell to the highest bidder surely.
Saint Charlie Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I reckon Cortese loves negotiating these deals, hope he gets this one through.
