Saint Charlie Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Some more Liverpool links today, need to get this one over the line. Coutinho would be a bonus if it came to anything but this is key to our survival chances IMO.
jawillwill Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Alan Nixon appears to be trusted on this forum, why not Alex Crook? Do you really need to ask?
Sour Mash Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Some more Liverpool links today, need to get this one over the line. Coutinho would be a bonus if it came to anything but this is key to our survival chances IMO. Hopefully we're lining up a couple of other bids for similar quality CBs to 1) Push Cagliari along and put the pressure back on them. 2) To ensure we do get a quality CB in sooner rather than later.
Bucks Saint Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 The Times says we "appear likely to beat Liverpool to the signature of....Astori". Must be true then
Greenridge Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Digressing somewhat but you don't see too many Italian players making the move to (or a success in) the Prem? I guess it's the same with the lack of British players in the other direction.
CaneNero Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I have a feeling this one's not going to work out.
surrey1saint Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 We will have to up our offer to land this guy....

jayrivers Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I think you're mixing up your £ and € there mate. Those are the figures quoted on the sky article http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/8385342/Southampton-s-offer-for-Davide-Astori-some-way-short-of-Cagliari-s-valuation
Saints boy in Leeds Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I think you're mixing up your £ and € there mate. Don't think so bud, sterling.
Window Cleaner Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Don't think so bud, sterling. they want 15 million €, about 12 million £, won't let him go for less because they've other offers which may get bumped up in the next few weeks
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 they want 15 million €, about 12 million £, won't let him go for less because they've other offers which may get bumped up in the next few weeks He won't come to Saints.
Dig Dig Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 He won't come to Saints. Unlike Ramirez who did sign when you spent all your time saying he wouldn't. The trolls don't even put in any effort any more. It's dissapointing.
Avenue Saint Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Unlike Ramirez who did sign when you spent all your time saying he wouldn't. The trolls don't even put in any effort any more. It's dissapointing. Very true.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 There is competition for both Astori and Coutinho however I have heard from someone ITK on transfers in general (not saints specifically) that Saints are well placed on both fronts. Not to say we wont be gazumped along the line but as it stands both deals are progressing well it seems. Be good to get a CB in asap as we are fooked with big Jos in the team.

Danbert Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 We will have to up our offer to land this guy.... Maybe, but do we really want to be outbidding Liverpool for players?
Dig Dig Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Maybe, but do we really want to be outbidding Liverpool for players? Why wouldn't we?
Turkish Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Maybe, but do we really want to be outbidding Liverpool for players? It's not 1995 anymore and we are no longer at the Dell!!! DIdn't people say Kevin Keegan would never sign for us!! This is a massive statement of intent! And here are a few of his finest moment! [video=youtube;YmXWl-Jixeg]

Not sure about the Italian rock music in that video though.
Turkish Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Good grow to like the new positive Turkish. KUTGW. Not sure about the Italian rock music in that video though. It's Turkish release v13. New IOS upgrade has adjusted default mode to be "postive" rather than "sarcastic". It also has a "serious discussion" mode which automatically gets turned on when discussing new players, finances, chariman and transfers. There was a glitch in that v13 still slips into "p*ss taking" when discussing things such as fancy dress or other mundane and pathetic subjects. "Sarcastic" is still an option but needs to be selected rather than an automatic shift in mode whenever the mood takes.

tajjuk Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Maybe, but do we really want to be outbidding Liverpool for players? Not really sure Liverpool are serious competitors in this, they have Agger and Skrtel, plus carragher and cates as backup and I doubt they would spend £10 million in area that doesn't really need improving. If they sold one of those maybe, but I think they need improvement in other areas. Plus they have a recent transfer history of buying overpriced english players so it's in those cases we don't want to be outbidding them.
Wade Garrett Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Being the spoilt bast*rd that I have become since Marcus invested in the club, I would be disappointed if Astori doesn't play on Saturday.

They're struggling to stump up the cash for Ince, so doubt they would be looking to spend £10m on a back up CB.
Turkish Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Liverpool cannot compete with us in the transfer market. Fact
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Liverpool cannot compete with us in the transfer market. Fact We priced them out of Gaston...
iansums Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Being the spoilt bast*rd that I have become since Marcus invested in the club, I would be disappointed if Astori doesn't play on Saturday. Just disappointed? Alpine will be 'disgusted'.

pingwing Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Liverpool cannot compete with us in the transfer market. Fact Spent all their money for years on magic beans (and overrated english players). They couldn't even stump up more than 2m for Clint Dempsy... Indicates they have no money up front and are getting laughed out the show because of it.
DT Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Sign on, sign on, with a pen in your hand You never got Gaston Sign on sign On And you'll ne-ver get... a loan you'll NE-VER get... a loan

Barry Sanchez Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Decent As a Saints fan who lives in Liverpool I can safely say thats ****e and as old as the hills, parts of Liverpool are crap but there are also lovely parts, Southampton has ****e parts in fact an awful lot of ****e boring drab parts , in fact Southampton is drab lets be honest.
Barry Sanchez Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 WHEN suarez goes..they are in deep shyt I hope so but their squad still is far better than ours and they pay stupid wages, 2nd or 3rd highest payers in the premiership.

Pipe down Brookside wannabe plum plank lemon melt.
Turkish Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 I hope so but their squad still is far better than ours and they pay stupid wages, 2nd or 3rd highest payers in the premiership. Martin skertel is no Maya Yoshida FFS
Barry Sanchez Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Says the man with a dead midget as his avatar and he goes by the name of Turkish, why would I want to be a scouser? I dont want to be a scouser at all, I am a Sotonian and a proud one but one who happens to find Millbrook, Thornhill and Shirley as ****e as parts of Liverpool, the difference is th ****e parts up here there are things to do and nights out that dont revolve around getting hammered before 2200, thats when Southampton closes doesn't it?
Barry Sanchez Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Martin skertel is no Maya Yoshida FFS No. no he is not, he is a good defender now.
Dig Dig Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 No. no he is not, he is a good defender now. But he'll be too old in the future
Millbrook Saint Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 Says the man with a dead midget as his avatar and he goes by the name of Turkish, why would I want to be a scouser? When I went out in Liverpool it was about the same as any other city centre, maybe a tad cheaper than here but the same drunk people, police, same bars and clubs really, just a tad bigger. Bristol is a better night out IMO Agree though there are some sh*t parts of Southampton, just like Liverpool, Liverpool is just bigger so it's crap parts cover more area, you can get lost in the crap. Whereas the areas around Soton are better. Their squad isn't much better than ours, or at least it's not performing much better. Very reliant on Suarez who is a class above and an aging Gerrard. The likes of Agger, Skrtel, Reina aren't performing to to their usual standards.
Barry Sanchez Posted 8 January, 2013 Posted 8 January, 2013 yeah because we're always hearing about the shootings in Southampton, and the innocent kids being shot in the crossfire between gangs. Thats true but we are always hearing about randow beatings whilst being drunk and the like, up here its a straightener and its pretty much sorted out, just look at todays page of the Echo, Liverpool's Echo no diferrent but its a far far bigger City with an outlying area of over a Million people, parts are rough but other parts not.
