Saint Charlie Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Unbeaten at home this season will be interesting to see how they do vs Liverpool - a defeat might dent confidence slightly. Looks like Shawcross and Wilkinson might both be on 4 yellows. Jones preferred to Crouch at the moment.
Dangermouth Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Don't see Stoke as a confidence team. Would like them to win and get complacent, if they do react in any way to the result and it has an effect on Saturday's game.
Saint Charlie Posted 26 December, 2012 Author Posted 26 December, 2012 Shawcross out vs us. Great news. Defintely a boost. Upson will probably come in, or one of the fullbacks will move to CB and Shotton might be back. Either way good news. If Wilkinson also gets a bookong that would be nice.
SuperSAINT Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Shawcross out vs us. Great news. Lovely. Will take that.
Saint Charlie Posted 26 December, 2012 Author Posted 26 December, 2012 Wonder if Richardson might play vs Stoke to add height over Clyne and maybe Guly on the left too.
Dr Who? Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Stoke do not give you any time on the ball, blimey they work hard.

Looks like Shawcross and Wilkinson might both be on 4 yellows. Jones preferred to Crouch at the moment. You could look at it the other way. If they win today they might underestimate us?? Yeah I know, impossible to know now, easier on saturday night..
Dr Who? Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 You could look at it the other way. If they win today they might underestimate us?? Yeah I know, impossible to know now, easier on saturday night.. We all know there is no logic to football, and football results!
Crab Lungs Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 The defence has been much improved but to think of Shaw, Yoshida and Davis up against this horrible lot isn't filling me with confidence. Big Jos time?
skintsaint Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Good to see Villa tonked again. Their GD is now horrible and could cost them.
Dr Who? Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 The teams getting thumped are changing all the time, us, sunderland, reading, villa.... Who's next. Also it looked like villa had turned the corner, and I hope we continue to look like we have. Can you imagine on here, if we lost 8-0 at stoke and 0-4 against Arsenal. Melt.
Saint Charlie Posted 26 December, 2012 Author Posted 26 December, 2012 3-1 Have to stop Jones winning the first header at all the set pieces somehow. Even though he has looked hopeless this season maybe Jos would offer more height and power at the back?

S-Clarke Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Don't agree with the idea of changing the back 4 around. It's working now, so why change it? We look more assured that we have done, and they've hit off a decent partnership back there. Only change it if one is injured.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Expect Guly will play to add height at set pieces.

Stopping the crosses is as important as defending them anyway and both their full backs are able to be attacked and the central midfield doesnt keep possession all that way. Just need to quieten the crowd and start well.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Expect Guly will play to add height at set pieces. J Rod is 1.85m Guly 1.89m Gaston is 1.83
Turkish Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Expect Guly will play to add height at set pieces. Because he defends them really well doesn't he, like at Fratton Park.
Turkish Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 We will lose and probably quite heavily. They'll bully us out of the game.
S-Clarke Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 The only chance we have is if they're knackered by the time they play us. But if they play anywhere near their level, then it's an impossible game for us to get anything from. We just don't have the players to contain their play, so we just need to hope that they're off it on Saturday.
Dr Who? Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 We will lose and probably quite heavily. They'll bully us out of the game. They are a very physically strong team. Not the sort of team we match up well against!
VectisSaint Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Because he defends them really well doesn't he, like at Fratton Park. One mistake, I guess you have never made one. As usual just because of who it was against you blow it out of all proportion. Troll.
Turkish Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 One mistake, I guess you have never made one. As usual just because of who it was against you blow it out of all proportion. Troll. That hurt. I don't know how I'll ever recover from such an attack. I actually don't mind Guly actually, he is just not the man to bring in for the sole reason of defending set pieces, so pipe down sunshine.
Golden Balls Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 J Rod is 1.85m Guly 1.89m Gaston is 1.83 So you agree Guly will add height to the set pieces?

Adkins has said himself that he's brought him on as a sub to defend set pieces before.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 So you agree Guly will add height to the set pieces? Yes
Crab Lungs Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 You can add all the height you want, if you're sh1te in the air defensively then there is no point in making that "tactical" switch.
Saint Stimp Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Shawcross out vs us. Great news. Cameron is suspended too so they'll have to switch their defence around a bit.
Smirking_Saint Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Honestly ? I reckon we will get hammered by stoke. And our team as it is ? I cant see anything that coukd answer their blunt physicality. Seeing how Lambert has played against taller defenders this season though Id be inclined to go with J Rod
Saint Fan CaM Posted 26 December, 2012 Posted 26 December, 2012 Switching defence around against Stoke would be like an formal invite to muller us. Mind you, this is not a game we will win - a draw would be a great result.
