kwsaint Posted 26 December, 2012 Share Posted 26 December, 2012 Draw probably a fair result. We could easily have been 2 or 3 down inside the first 20 mins. Much better second half taking the game to Fulham, and had the better of the play and the chances. One of those days when through balls just did not quite reach the target, but then got the penalty. Nearly won and lost it at the end with Ramirez's shots that Schwarzer seemed to take over the line and the Fulham header at the end. Good day out. Fulham fans are unbelievably quiet
Saint Garrett Posted 26 December, 2012 Share Posted 26 December, 2012 Game.... Pretty bad in the first half. Have them far too much room and didn't get in their faces, let them pik out passes and let Berbatov stroll around like he owned the place. Second half was much much better. Hassles them, and helped each other out. Punch actually did something and Gaston had a few good moments along with some **** ones. Lambert was absolutely toss today I thought, and was surprised he wasn't hauled off but glad he got the goal, wouldn't have wanted anyone else to have that. Davis had a shocker for the goal, and Shaw had a few nervy moments today alongside some exceptional play. Thought Yoshi and Fonte actually dealt with their front two quite well, although thought Yoshi's passing was pretty woeful. S Davis was very average, and thought we looked far far better with J-Rod on te pitch. Fans.... Good, then crap, then superb. Second half we were very noisy and was good to see, felt like we contributed to that goal!! Onwards and upwards another point closer to safety. QUOTE] won't contradict you too much, but watching much of the game streamed on my computer, along with numerous replays..it seemed as though KD was unlucky with a swerving ball and did well to get a hand to it in the first place..... Shaw had a couple of devastating runs into their area, but like attacking full backs was caught out once or twice....but what do you want from a 17 year old ? . He looked very composed otherwise, and is up for MOM on this sites poll.
Griffo Posted 26 December, 2012 Share Posted 26 December, 2012 Boxing day games normally have a sh*t atmosphere. Fair play to us all, that was class from us today. Constantly singing 2nd half, spurred Saints to push for the equaliser.
Saint Lindford Posted 26 December, 2012 Share Posted 26 December, 2012 The only atmosphere was created by Saints fans, the home fans must think they go to a library not a football ground, really did not hear them even when they scored -truely appalling. Lucky we were not 2 or 3 down in first half which seemed to pass us by really. Davis at fault for their goal, should have done much better. Second half was much much better and got into their faces good chances for Puncheon, Lambert and Ramierz. Schwartzer very close to carrying the ball over the line from a Ramierz shot, got a deserved goal and did think we could go on and win the game, then came the free kick from which Hangeland nearly scored. Overall a good performance and a deserved point. Stand outs. Shaw - once again a solid game Puncheon - did OK but do wish he would take people on down the outside instead of coming inside all the time Schniederlin - very good in midfield Not so good Davis in first half - better in second half Cork in first half - far better in second half MOTM - probably just Shaw for his overall performance. Our Claus Posted 26 December, 2012 Share Posted 26 December, 2012 Playing Ramirez out wide is such a waste - we looked a completely different team when he moved into the middle late on. Steven Davis worked hard, but was asked to play a role that just isn't his. The team in general - and the midfield in particular - look so flat without Lallana. Today and Sunderland have highlighted what a massive job he does for us. It's not just his ability, but he sets the tempo for the whole team, brings so much energy. We are missing him badly. Special mentions today for Morgan Schneiderlin, who bossed the midfield in the second half, and Luke Shaw yet again.
Appy Posted 26 December, 2012 Share Posted 26 December, 2012 Fans were excellent second half. First half was average, but that's the loudest we've been for a while in the second half.

eurosaint Posted 26 December, 2012 Share Posted 26 December, 2012 Don't often do away matches but was impressed by our support today as they out sung Fulham big time and did a lot to raise the spirits in the second half ! As against Sunderland the conditions were difficult and a crisp passing game was almost impossible ! Our CB's did a good job as did Cork and Morgan, winning a lot of ball down the middle. A bit toothless up front, Punch gave them some problems and Rickie kept at it ( don't agree that he was sh#t !), Gaston was disappointing but did improve late on ! Sadly I think that Kelv is a liability and whatever happens we must sort out the goalie situation in January ! Good point, good day out, enjoyed it !! Just mentioned that he did make a couple of mistakes that could have cost us HOWEVER he also made so brilliant runs down the line too.
Appy Posted 26 December, 2012 Share Posted 26 December, 2012 Didn't like Puncheon sulking at Clyne towards the end when he could of chased the ball.

Graffito Posted 27 December, 2012 Share Posted 27 December, 2012 Thought the midfield pair of Cork and Schneiderlin got a grip second half and we took the game to them. Pity about the final ball. Clearly miss Lallana. Must get Ramirez on the ball more. Play him in the hole.
